Could anyone tell me, assuming normal/average growing conditions, how many days it takes for the soybeans to grow to the point that a) the deer will start eating the leaves and b) the plants will be fully mature/go brown? Trying to figure out when I can plant these next year. One options is to plant them "early", and then plant something else for the fall, or maybe I can plant these mid-summer and have them through some or all of gun season. I'm open to suggestions in general in this regard. Thanks.

For the hell of it, I ordered the Modern Hunting with Indian Secrets. I really enjoyed a book called Survival Arts Of The Primitive Paiutes. I am hoping Modern Hunting with Indian Secrets will be in the same vein.

Other than his wikipedia page, have you found any source for his death? I can't find anything on google, nor Karamat or morskochanski websites. Odd. Wikipedia pages can be hacked, so I am wondering if it could be fake news.

You are missing out. For arboreal forest survival/bushcraft, he is the expert. We are fortunate, though, that he did a lot of youtube videos.

Given the dwindling number of shotgun days, I may try to hunt from the ground one day later this week. It gets very windy in Porter, unfortunately. I bought a folding three legged stool with a small back support I've been meaning to try out.

Is the texture "rubbery" when you cook it like that, or does the muscle "loosen up" once cooked long enough? I have four hearts that I am trying to figure out what do do with. One idea I have is to grind the meat and make chili, but I'm worried that they will turn into little rubber pellets.

Finally breaking out the snow camo. Only two inches of snow, but it is wet and heavy and sticking to all the branches. Going out this afternoon. -
Anyone wear solid orange or orange blaze pattern? I'm thinking about getting solid orange for the next set of jacket and bibs I buy. I know it's far from a sexy camo pattern, but I wear an orange vest anyway, and I figure the orange on orange will make me less visible if I move my arms around in front of me. That, and it will make me safer in areas where there are other hunters . . . .

A guy I hunt with does that with latex gloves from his work. As long as you use the whole finger length, you shouldn't need a rubber band.
