    Sorry to post this hear but really need an answer and was hoping for sum help. I used enough cure for 9lbs of meat. Had 7. Read instructions wrong. Am I good or should I toss? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Sad. Sorry to hear. doing something he love to do is have to say at that age. Didn't deserve that. Please guys and gals be safe out there. Put ur harnesses on. Come home at night. This is terrible. Prayers to his family for sure

    I have a love/hate relationship when it ends. I hate the fact I can't hunt the awesome whitetail deer for 9months! Love the fact that they get a rest! Can't wait to start getting ready for next year. Putting food plots in in the spring. Some corn this yr. oh well got a few more days anyhow. Oh and I almost forgot. Coyote hunting! Going to try to take a little more pressure off the deer in my area.

    Good stuff. I feel the last few years I've sat back and take it all in. I use to get so frustrated with not seeing or taking deer. Not I just enjoy my time in the woods! It flys by. I took my 9 year old out with me durning archery and we got to see a doe with 2 little ones in tow at 15yrs. I let them walk and has to explain the little ones needed her still. It was still awesome!

    A few years back I shot what I thought was a doe. Ended up being a buck. Good size deer. I'm thinking prob 2.5 yrs old. Both horns busted off. One side of it was missing a piece of its skull. Never seen anything like it. All I could think is how bad that had to have hurt.

    Tree guy I had a rough gun seaso too! Hunted every day. And only seen deer opening day. Oh well! I'm a bow kinda guy anyhow

    so I was checking cams last night and got a decent 8 point on cam. And as hunting pressure is almost none now I was wondering who here gets pics of bucks and sees them the following hunting season?

    Nice job! He's hooked!!! Awesome. At 12 can't he hunt with one of the cross gun things? I know they can hunt with a real bow. Even if not still cool to have him with u and see some action. I had my 9 year old out with me durning archery this October and we seen mom and 2 little ones. I let them go but they were 15 yrds and put on a show for us. He can't wait till he is 12. Good stuff

    Bionic I hear u. I have had big bucks on my cams a few times and have tried to kill them and have only had a chance at 2 of them thru out the yrs. all I can say is u can kill them from the couch. And I agree with u. At this point try something new. They didn't get that big by being dumb. Good luck to u! Post some pics when u do lay ur hands on them antlers!!

    I have to say you have 1 of two changes to kill this buck. 1st!! And most likely ur best bet. Rut! They slip up then. 2nd and idk how u can pull it off. Have to find his other spot and catch him there. Idk. I have same problem with a buck I've been hunting for bout 5 yrs now. I'd love to catch him

    How big was the corn field? And if they cut it and left lots of ears and corn on the ground the deer will eat it

    I keep them whole. I us a tote in the fridge. With a rack about 2 inches off the bottom. So blood can drain. And I use 1 inch sticks to keep the top about an inch off the tote so air can circulate. This has worked well for me. Put it in there 5/7 days.

    I'm not arguing at at! Cause not into fighting with any of u! I will disagree with this. If u hit the deer in the shoulder and it didn't go thru! Well u can push that deer for a month. If u did make it thru well then ur into the vitals. And if u back out and let it lay! U will find it! Again it's just my .02. Please do what works for u guys. Wounded non recovered deer suck!

    I have to tell you! I hear all of do's and dont's. If u hit it good u will find the deer within a 100yrds. Had sum big deer go close to that with double lung shots! If u don't hit them good or u have to question the shot! Back out! Wait! Nothing worse them pushing a wounded animal! It will go places u wouldn't believe! I wish I would have known that when I was younger!

    I hunt hard man. I think I've been out every day since October 1. At least for an hr or so each day. And if I only have 20 mins of legal shooting light I'll run out behind the house! Can't kill them from the couch. And I have passed many of deer this season. Small bucks, doe with fawns. And I really was asking the question to see what others thought from a deer management point. I mean I prob could make the 3 deer in my freezer last! But one more won't hurt! Will not go to waste. But at the same Time I don't want to kill off the population in any of my hunting spots! I love to Hunt whitetail deer!!!
