Survival Lint for Sale
Steuben Jerry replied to moog5050's topic in Non Hunting Items For Sale and Trade
Need a supplier? I have a friend who runs an industrial laundry. Mostly hospital laundry items so it's of the highest medical grade. Might even be able to arrange deliveries by rail car. Of course a commission structure would have to be discussed.. -
That looks beautiful Rob!

Normally takes me about 1 hr and 45 mins. I've had snow days where I made the decision to go for it and it took 3+ hours. Needless to say I have learned from those decisions!

That's my thought as well only I've been saying Tractor Supply. I'll save you a spot at the break table!

I hear you. My daily ride to work is usually a Honda Civic unless my wife's schedule differs. I fill my tank every other day, get an oil change every 5 weeks and snow tires last me about one winter. I do about 43000 miles a year just to work and back. So the car is shot after 4-5 years and just about useless for trade or resale. Going to be glad to get past that!

Haha - well aware of the timing! Financially, there's always a reason for me to keep extending it. It'll be thin, but I'm pretty sure I can pull it off, although no extravagant lifestyles are in my plans. In my family, on my father's side they drop dead in their 40's and 50's. I seem to have passed that milestone. On my Mother's side they either have terrible physical health through their old age or they get dementia in their 70's. I have no physical issues whatsoever except being fat and balding so I'm determined to get as many years in as I can before that kind of decline, if in fact that is in the cards. Although I am planning on bucking all those family trends!

Well, I dropped the news on my boss that I’m planning on retiring very soon. I turned 62 a month ago and as much as I could use the extra couple years of income and saving, I’m looking forward to getting out of the daily grind I’m in. I’ve got a handful of projects that I need to finish up this year but from those timelines it looks like that I’ll be sliding out some time around October to December. I will not miss an 80+ mile one-way ride to work, and I will not miss getting up at 4:30 am and getting home at 7 or 8 o’clock in the evenings. At this point in my life, I’m reduced to working, coming home for a quick bite, and then off to sleep. No more of that! I’m going to plan on finding a part time job just to keep me somewhat active and supply some extra pocket cash, but 20-ish hours a week will feel like nothing after 10-12 hour days for the last 40+ years. I’m not even sure I know how to live when I have ample time to myself, but I have a feeling that I’ll be able to figure it out quickly enough!

When it starts to drag on like it is, I like to remember that this miserable cold crap is why we have less venomous snakes, less hordes of disease ridden ticks, no scorpions, and of course no alligators to bother me when I'm kayaking or fishing a marshy shoreline.. just sayin. -

Go for it! With a little luck, I'll be in that situation by the end of this year. -

Getting a little tired of it myself. Today's drive in took 35 minutes longer than normal. I thought maybe I'd get one of the ATV's out yesterday just to see if I could get it around the property. Got it high centered in the first 15 feet, boooo! -
Wow!!!!! Great job and great buck! The same member took both of those? Were they ever posted here before?

Beau rides along when our daughter takes her daughter to pre-school. Today he jumped in first and waited. Guess he wants the car seat once in a while. He’s such a good natured boy! -
I've been following these projects for a while and am fascinated by it all. Wait until the Artemus program really gets going. NASA Artemis I hope, hope, hope this administration doesn't shut it down to redirect the money. When I was a wee little guy I watched every second of TV coverage from the Apollo missions (I was 10 when man first stepped on the moon). I really thought we be on Mars before I was 25. Artemis will get us there after 50 years.

An old memory popped up from when I was an apprentice toolmaker. Had a guy running a production job on a Bridgeport next to me. You had to account for your good parts and your scrap parts. I had probably the expected amount of scrap each day but "Skip" (i don't recall his name all these years later) never had scrap. Of course he got the good feedback and us lowly makers of scrap were told we need to "tighten up". Found out later that he made lots of scrap, but he would pocket it and throw it out his car window on the way home. Inventory control was not a strong suit of that first shop I worked at. So these look like parts made on a Swiss lathe. Maybe old Skip got a job down in Luberhill's neck of the woods? @Jeremy K whatchya think?

Hey this could be of use in the landlocked land thread. Think of a big drone with an ATV being lowered down onto the ground. Winner! In all seriousness - remarkable technology! So glad to see the space program advancing again. 'Murica!

My feelings exactly. Astorino's campaign was the first political campaign I ever contributed to. Still follow him on Facebook. I like his ideas. -

Agreed. None of this takes food off my table or harms me in any way. Although I do reserve the right to think silently to myself that it's weird. -
Great work as always WNY! I hope I get one nice enough next year to bring to you!
