  1. The DEC allows turkey hunting 1/2 hr before sunrise. If we can make out a beard, we sure as heck ought to be able to see antlers on a deer or another hunter walking by.
  2. 30 minutes before sunrise or after sundown is still bright enough to see. Just about every state does this.
  3. Really? This is how you make a compelling argument?
  4. Well, at least in my neck of the woods, I thing this is a good thing. After opening day of rifle, the hunting activity in my general area steadily declines. By muzzleloader season, there's only a few folks out and that's over 1000 acres. I think the bonus week will have no more than the few diehards in my area that happen to have a tag left. There's been times where I've had a leftover tag and been kind of burned out by the end of muzzleloader. The bonus week would have probably gotten me out a couple more times.
  5. The twitter-verse is a vile place.
  6. Passed in the Senate and to the Assembly now. NRA-ILA | New York: Senate Passes Pair of “Ghost Gun” Bills
  7. Their attorney claimed he would be successful too. And he was, he successfully chiseled $20k out of an older couple.
  8. In my case, that didn't work for them as neither I or the neighboring properties were ever part of those parcels. They are big parcels too, totaling 118 acres. I and the surrounding landowners consider it a big sanctuary.
  9. I can say from personal experience this isn't the case or at least it wasn't if some new laws passed recently. I'm pretty sure I've told this story, but here's a condensed version. Back in the early 1980's, behind the property I now own, a couple from Rochester bid at tax auction, on two parcels of land. This was part of an estate that had 5-10 adjoining parcels and the other parcels that were on frontage sold during the auction (not to them). They bought two land-locked parcels and spent the next 20+ years trying to convince the surrounding landowners to give them a right of way. Everybody said no, and the purchasers trespassed their way in until the neighbors put a stop to it. When I bought a neighboring parcel they approached me - with a terrible style to boot. They told me I had to give them a right of way for free as they claimed "easement of necessity", but they of course were willing to cover my legal costs. How generous. I told them to get lost and they proceeded to trespass on me until I (DEC) put a stop to that. According to the surviving widow of the couple, they spent over $20 grand on trying to gain access before they gave up. They found no legal recourse in over 25 years to gain access. Maybe they should have just bought a helicopter.
  10. I’ve got one of these, leftover from 15 years ago when we had just a camper here, but run extension cords. How much was just the transfer switch installation?
  11. All the bird feeder spillage is iced over.
  12. Updated pics with youngest granddaughter and Beau. He's grown a bit! I have such a soft spot for spaniels.
  13. I only heard a soundbite, didn't hear any context to it, but the snippet I heard was that weasel saying the nursing home staff brought the Covid into the homes. There has to be some important context I missed? Even slimy Andy wouldn't blame the staff for the deaths, right?
  14. Thanks, wife's uncle actually. She wasn't close with that part of the family. Almost a blessing as he had dementia and according to family reports, was fading fast.
  15. This thread is about Cuomo (the name in the thread title) sending Covid positive people into nursing homes and infecting the residents causing deaths to otherwise healthy seniors. Just like my uncle who died because of exactly that reason. You can leave Trump out of at least this somber thread and keep on topic, right?
  16. Among other things, Biden is starting his push for a federal ban on "assault" rifles. This is what Democrat voters wanted, to take away the most popular rifle platform in the USA. Thanks a lot. Statement by the President Three Years After the Parkland Shooting | The White House
  17. Would make a pretty classy reloading bench! GLWS
  18. As sad as I am over the deaths, this screengrab is making me feel giddy. Huuuge GTG at my place if this happens!
  19. Sure is getting hotter today for Dick-tater Andy!
  20. I've been wondering about @philoshop. Had the pleasure of meeting him at a GTG a couple of years back in Geneva that Philo arranged. Unfortunately I don't know his last name. I've messaged a few times to see if he was OK and never got a response. He was regularly active and then nothing since 2019. Makes me think the worst
