  1. Mine had a little hole in one side but not like yours. Those are really pronounced. Pretty cool.
  2. I got a hp photo scanner printer for 79 bucks at walmart not too long ago.
  3. North and south end of Canandaigua lake froze pretty much overnight last week and was about 3" thick. Saw a guy duck hunting and he was in waiters trying to break through the ice to get out to one he got I think. However the wind, rain and warm temps broke it up. We have had cold nights here and with the upcoming week of colder temps during the day the lake could start to freeze up again. only takes a calm night with cold temp to skim over and then it builds up. How thick is safe ice?
  4. Get a desktop and buy a tablet.
  5. I just bought my first vac sealer and will be picking up my sausage at the end of the week. Will chime in again then.
  6. never smelled fox urine. All my life smells seem to be stored in my head and when I smell something like them again it reminds me of the time I smelled it first. Smelled this today and it reminded me of being around the buck I shot this last season. Do fox urine and buck tarsal glands smell similar?
  7. I was out in the woods today in a place I've only walked through once before. I came upon a spot where 4 or 5 high traffic deer trails were crossing and I couldn't believe the musky smell. It was almost overpowering. I slapped a cam on a tree and got out of there as fast as possible so I didn't leave any more scent. I can't wait to see what pops up on the cam. Could the smell be left over from the rut or do bucks continue leaving such a strong smell now? Or am I just crazy?
  8. I have numerous winches for sale. I have a couple brand new 3000 pound cap 12v with wireless remote control for $100. I also have some other odd used ones. like maybe a 5000 and a 10,000. Let me know if anyone wants more specifics.
  9. I once saw a squirrel fall out of a tree still holding the branch it was walking on. It hit the ground, dropped the stick and took off.
  10. When I had to wear steel toe I switched to a composite safety toe. not sure if your job allows them but they don't get cold like steel and are a lot lighter.
  11. From what I have learned...PA and Texas are the only two states that will allow a non resident to take their complete online hunter safety class. A NYS DEC officer told me that New York will honer any out of state certified hunter safety course. I have never had enough time to take a course here in NY mainly because of poor planning but also because of work being very seasonal. I would definitely rather one of my kids take a hands on course than the online course or maybe even both as I did learn a ton in the online course. I took the Online PA course friday before opening day of gun in the morning, took 5 hours, went and got a license, a crossbow and a shotgun that afternoon. Went out afternoon of opening day. I, fortunately had two decent shots at two deer during the season and started my hunting obsession. However I would be cautious letting a youth out with little to no experience and probably should have taken a step back and looked at myself and what I was doing. Fortunately everything worked out ok and I have some decent mentors. Every kid is different.
  12. I would not let this issue go I just got a double stand so my 5 year old and I can sit outside some in the off season and just observe nature. After reading this I'm gonna check how it's connected to the tree every time I see it just to be safe. A good reminder for everyone since straps can fray and sometimes straps can dry rot out in the elements.
  13. So what I'm gathering is that you may only see the spot that the antler was attached for a short while. So I should be looking at everything else other than the antlers to try to identify something unique. I looked back at some pics of mine and noticed a couple deer with wounds. One looks like something took a chunk out of its back. Wonder if that hair will stay messed up or heal over completely. I appreciate some pictures of potential before and afters. looking online didn't give me a ton of before and after photos. Thanks WNY Bowhunter Anybody else have some?
  14. Thats a good one. This must be a hard thing to figure out.
  15. alright alright so I'm really new to this. I have only been able to recognize deer in pics so far from there antlers or a couple that have had wounds. Does anybody have any pics of say a deer with antlers and then without? Before and after pics of the same deer?
  16. You're life is about to get TEN TIMES.....Better!
  17. I'm super new to this but would love to know when certain bucks that I have been trying to learn about (through trail cams) drop their antlers. I have a really cool little buck that my son named Forklift on camera that we would like to find his antlers together. They are really tall spikes with a fork on top. Can someone give some insight and pictures on learning to identify individual deer and what to look for after they drop the antlers. Pretty easy before they drop but after they drop I'm struggling with a little. Thanks! These pictures may be button bucks but one of the pictures looks like a larger deer. I don't know why all my pictures post differently than in the actual file. Some upside down, some sideways. I switch it in the file and it is even something different yet.. Oh well sorry
  18. So far pretty much only during hunting season when there is a nice deer in front of me.
  19. Nice pictures. Did you find his sheds last year? Would be cool if you had the sheds and then got him next year. I would be looking all over.
  20. Now that's thinking outside of the smoker. I love sitting by a campfire and was hesitant this year because of the smell but your right everyone around lights up a wood stove or fireplace in the fall. I like it.
  21. Those are some nice pictures from cabin fever. I like the one where he looks like he's snarling.
  22. This was over my gut pile of the buck I recently got. You'll have to do a handstand
  23. I once pulled a guy up on my boat who's boat sunk. He still had his pole in his hand and we helped land his trout that apparently pulled him overboard and sunk his boat. He was frozen. medics said maybe 15 more minutes in the cold water and we'd have pulled him out with a different outcome. No ice yet this year so make sure you wear your life jackets when on the boat. His probly saved his life.
