Started off with a smooth bore Ithica 20ga. Featherlight deerslayer....didn't kill a thing with it....I borrowed it from my buddies dad for a season or two. Then I bought a 12ga mossberg 835 and then put a rifled barrel on it with a cantilever mount. Great turkey or goose gun. After years of hunting in a Rifle County I switched by to shotgun only area and since then have used a 20ga mossberg with a rifled barrel and for the last 3 years I have used a 20ga savage 220 and probably won't stray from that gun as long as I keep hunting a shotgun county. Question......so if we have powder and want to use what we already have.....do we need to match that powder to a specific bullet. Last night Jason looked up the Hogdon Varget powder he got and it said to match with an 80 grain Hdy Gmx bullet. Or can you match thay power with any 80 grain bullet? That doesn't always fly as a reason.....it may even say not to use that reason on the Erie County form that you use to amend your permit. You need to state things like your a responsible gun owner.... belong to a club and participate in safety classes. Opened my muzzleloader case last night that had been stored in the garage. Wellll let's say the little bit of moisture from the last day sit was starting to cause some issues. Barrel was good.....powder was dry but rust was forming all over the trigger assembly and wherw the scope was mounted.
