  1. Bird hunting with the GSP and scouting new property for next archery season. Trail cams will be going up for a month to see what makes it through. Taking down stands, experimenting with BH209 for better groups with the mzldr. Purchase nice scope for .17 and get my soon to be 9 yr old daughter ready for PA mentor deer season next yr. Cant wait - If you ever have a chance to take a kid hunting do it - Pay it forward
  2. I'll be loading up GSP and 20 ga and heading for PA day after XMAS. Have a couple hot spots there - wish I could find similar spots in WNY
  3. One of the newer models - funny you ask - my father has an old 1958 model - Ithaca 16 ga - and is smooth as silk - but the newer guns can't touch the older models
  4. Looking to replace 2 scopes this off-season. 1 for the TC Triumph and 1 for the .17 - don't want to break the bank but looking for some ideas for both. Presently have old Weaver mounts for both but looking to update - thanks
  5. I have the Ithaca model 37 12 ga and very disappointed. Had to take it to a local gun smith to replace the ejectors - after shooting had to remove barrel to eject spent shell. This gun never gets out. Also have 2 pump 30-06's - 1 model 760 and 1 7600 - both nice guns but if considering Rem go for the model 700 more accurate. Have it in .270 and love it. One mans opinion.
  6. That was a great hunt. Where were you in PA? I do a lot of hunting in Forest and Clarion Counties. Congrats
  7. thanks hunt6246 - I'm going to break down and buy a decent scope next yr
  8. tc triumph 250 gr shockwave 100 gr 777 Good luck all and be safe
  9. shot five rounds through the tc triumph @ 65 yds after mounting scope. All shots were close but not as tight as I want. Wet patch after each shot and let barrel cool before the next. Shooting 2 777 w .250 shockwave. Any ideas?? Think its my junk Bushnell sport view 3x9. Good luck Sat
  10. thanks for the info - i have terrible time removing breach after storing away from previous season. After removing and cleaning, able to remove with fingers - not tools. do they sell replacement plugs? thanks again
  11. I shoot the triumph and I send a wet patch down after every shot. Loads like a bitch - the power belts load easier but are all over target. T/C shockwaves 250 grain with 2 777 shoot the best but you gotta wet patch. PS - clean well before storing away for the season and grease breach plug or it will seize-up.

    ALL DAY HUNTS

This wk looks like the wk to kill a big boy. How many will sit all day??? I know it can be mentally draining when they aren't moving but you gotta stick it out. Saw 2 big bucks this wk at 12:15 pm and 12:50 pm in food plots.
  13. I used the can last night and he came in on a string unfortunately at full draw my coat fell off the stand. Gotta love it!
  14. I have fear of heights and bending down to find the boot strap always scared the crap out of me. Put on the stirrups and they are GREAT!! I put them on 5-6 yrs ago and was one the best purchases I've made.
  15. WesternNY where you at? I'm in 9h and also saw some chasing during the last hr today. Hope early tomorrow will be good before the storm hits. good luck all - be safe

    Elite archery

if anyone interested in Elite archery - send me a mssg with your contact info. Good friends with a member of the company.
  17. AR has worked in PA. We are starting to see really nice bucks every yr. Understand "trophy" differs from hunter to hunter. Personally - if you want better/more bucks in NY then only kill one. You get one buck tag-you pick the method: gun/bow/muzzldr. This would instantly improve buck #'s.
  18. Spot i hunt in PA has lots of grouse. I know they are there but they still scare the crap out of me when they flush in the early A.M.
  19. Try kischel scents mock scrape kit. Works great. I've been using it for yrs with cameras. If you know a traditional scraping area, open the scrape first and refreshen 7-10 days. The kit is glandular spray, interdigital, preorbital, and tarsal. They love the preorbital on the licking/ overhead branches. I like to have the scrapes open prior to bucks hard horn in early September. Good luck and hope this helps.
  20. Shoot whatever deer you want. The trophy is in the eye of the beholder. The problem is the too many bucks are killed per yr in NY. License holder should only be able to kill ONE buck per season.
  21. When he came to your home - Game on!!
  22. In Elk County PA, where they have free ranging wild elk herd, saw 6X7 bull mount cow during the rut. Kids wanted to know why they were wrestling!!!
  23. Saw mother woodcock and little ones during Spring turkey season - very cool
  24. 9h was the worst first day. In an area where deer typically seen, not a deer all day on stand.
