  1. My 12 yr old's first bird. Got him on Sunday in Youth Season. Thanks for the youth season - my kid's hooked. 9" beard 1" spurs
  2. It is anticipated that Charles Alsheimer will do a presentation at Eden High School - Eden, NY later this year (09/14). Come listen and form your own opinion. Regardless of your point of view, his presentation should put all in the mood for 2014 archery season.
  3. Doewhacker - Love your dog. I have a GSP. nothing better than watching your dog work. Is that a Browning Lightning? Happy hunting
  4. Wanted to see how my fellow pheasant hunters did this yr. Got 9 roosters so far with my GSP in 9H.
  5. I put a 3-9 Bushnell on the 17. What In forgot to mention in my previous post for all you is that I was shooting 4" clay birds with my 11 yr old son at 100 yds so he could get instant feed back on each shot. I realize that a 4" clay bird is a very generous target. Merry Xmas!!
  6. the Glock 22 and 27 are both .40 cal. Model 22 is full size (15 mag capacity) and 27 is compact (9 mag capacity). Shoot both from 50 yds prone - amazing accuracy - stock - no modifications
  7. I just finished putting a scope on the .17 hmr. Amazed at the accuracy!! Set up clay birds at 100 yds and shattered them every time. Fun little gun - bring on the yotes.
  8. I have Glock 22 and 27. Both shoot lights out and are a dream to maintain. 27 is perfect for everyday carry with ankle holster.
  9. 5 - I have two children that are interested and I spent more time getting them ready than hunting solo. I must say this was one of my favorite seasons because I got to share it with my kids.
  10. If you're near PA - Tall Tales Sporting Goods (Russell, PA) selling Muck Boot - Arctic Sport $109. That's a smoking deal!!

    youth gun

Started my kids with chipmunk 22 and then progressed to full size 22 and 17. To get them ready for PA youth deer season - they both had to shoot 1100 20 ga to prepare for the 243 recoil. Both children @ 9 shot the 20 ga and 243. Proud to say my son, now 11, just harvested his second deer today in PA with 270 (reduce recoil 115 grain ammo). good stuff!!
  12. So I go out from 3-5 pm today thinking I'll sit and not see a thing and I don't bring any calls. From 4-5 I'm covered in deer and one is a big 8 chasing anything that comes his way. I tried calls with my mouth but no luck - needed bleat can!! Lesson learned.
  13. Smokepole (TC) removed the bull @ 75 yds and touched it at 50 yds. I was pressed for time so I made each shot count. Good luck and remember why we do what we do. Relax/have fun/be safe

    Elite Bow?

If you're interested in trying one out before purchase send me your info. I know a rep in the WNY area.
  15. Doc - love my .270 and will be passing it to my son for the first time this yr for the PA season. He's been using .243 but has grown enough to now handle the additional recoil. Since getting the 700 Rem 20 yrs ago, I've switched to left handed shooting (left eye dominant) and think it's time to buy a new left handed .270. Good luck all
  16. Couldn't agree more. Was off this wk and the wind was terrible. Saw 5 bucks on Sunday, 11/3, 4 bucks on Monday, 11/4, 0 deer Tuesday, 11/5, 0 deer Wednesday, 11/6, 1 buck Thursday, 11/7, and 1 buck today. The wind killed deer movement here in 9h Tuesday-Friday. That's why it's called hunting. Good luck all!
  17. I hunt a lot in PA and the AR has improved the buck population IMO. Jr. hunters (12-16) may harvest any buck as long as it has a 3" spike but once you graduate from the Jr. ranks the buck must be 3 or 4 pt minimum per side. I practice QDM but think any deer with a bow is a trophy. IMO the biggest problem in NY is not AR but the practice of killing more than one per season. They will grow bigger if there are more to grow.
  18. Shot this guy opening day of PA season, 10/5, under same tree I missed last yr. Sweet redemption!! 30 yds double lung and watched him fall!! Now trophy hunting in NY - 9H.
  19. Diamond Elite - adjusts 5lbs - 70lbs and 21"-30" draw length. Got one for my son - great bow
  20. ar in 9h and only one buck per season. you'll see instant improvement by limiting each hunter to 1 buck/season. just one man's opinion
