OK... update.... We we leave on 10-12 for our moose/bear hunt up in Newfoundland... Can't wait.. wifes first bear hunt, and I get to cross off a bucket list hunt by going for moose... So the wife surprises me with a 338 Win Mag. barrel for my Pro Hunter that I've been wanting for years... She gave it to me last week so this past weekend I was out and about getting all tgoodies for it... Nikin BDC scope, ammo, dies to reload, slugs, mounts, etc... Should have it all done up and out to the range this weekend... Trying Federal Fusions 225 grains... Thinknig they will handle a newfie moose welll and will also do well in Africa next year on a kudu bull... I'll post pics of the range report this weekend...

TONS of them..... Everywhere I see apple trees they are loaded... Makes up for last year, my trees had none.. not 1 apple on them.. late frost I'm thinking..

The farmers tractor road comes up right behind the blind... If you look, you can see the 3 acre corn field behind the blind he put in for me... As for easy in and out access, thos two spots are VERY quiet to get in and out of... As for blowing deer out, my thinking is, they won't spend hours there, they might use it for staging before going out to the fields at dark... At least I hope they do... LOL As stated, this is a first attempt so I'm hoping to learn a lot...

Thanks... Yeah.. it was a lot more work than originally thought... But glad we did it... Hoping it will grow well... All of Sept. before we get anything remotely cold I'm thinking then figure 1/2 way through before the first real frost... Fingers crossed... Next year I'll be planting earlier in August...

Yeah... we picked areas that the farmer has no use for... Trying to give the deer something that will draw them to after the crops are cut.. so we will see...

Then, after doing soil testing, added lime and fertilizer to the plots... Set up a ground blind and a ladder stand and this weekend we will till and plant the Green Patch Plus....

After spraying, we hacked them down and then weed whacked to get it to bare ground... My wife on the left.... Another hunting partner on the right... Yup.. 2 women.. They work as hard as I do... ;-).. The guys I hunt with decided not to do this... Got it down close as we could...

Going to do my first ever food plots this year... Already sprayed and removed the weeds.... Limed and fertilized this past weekend and now I am going to till and plant Green Patch plus... Anyone plant it in NY before??? How was it for deer?? Did it work later into the season??? I'll post pics later... But hoping my first effort works....

I shot one when they first came out... I've got friends at T/C and we took out a "sample".... Shot the 308 and the 223... VERY nice shooting rifle... VERY easy to change over to other calibers... I'm a Pro Hunter lover and use single shots almost exclusively.. but if I were to EVER buy a bolt, it would be that rifle right there... Hoping they come out with a camo stock (rumored) and I just might have to add it to the other T/C's...

Not just the choke tube that deermines it, also the load being fired... Hevy shot will kill at longer ranges... a lot more money per round though...

I would rather see it go to 1 buck per year over AR's.. but if AR's were to come in, I would welcome that over what is current... 4Y & 4Z

Deer season I was seeing multiple flocks, some numbering over 50 birds... This winter should be mild enough to date to keep them going strong...

Didn't work when Clinton banned assault weapons.. At the peak of that ban we had Columbine, guns used were a side by side shotgun, a pump shotgun and 2 pistols, non of which would be covered.... Can't fix the problem by trying to work on a symptom.. the problem is we are over medicating our youth.. We allow them to play violent video games showing no reguard for life... Then let them watch movies where everyone gets shot up.. It is a society issue, not a gun issue.. My rant is over.. Can't believe how the media is all over the town, the people and fillnig the news with it.. We live in a sick society that supports therse news channels.

Just wondering.. is it illegal after the season??? Was thinking for some reason you can up till 2 weeks prior to the start of the season, it's that way here in Ma..

I saw more hunters than EVER this past weekend... Never saw a deer... 100 turkeys though...
