  1. We can't legislate or stop stupid accidents... Also... The cloudy day comment is another judgement call... The state is trying to legislate sportsmenship and ethics... it's impossible.. but in trying to accomplish this, it's preventing good hunters from hunting 1 hour a day and the ones breaking the laws are getting no punishment...
  2. Trust me.. In Africa... South Africa that is.. Without those high fences... You would not have game animals.. Theyt would be shot, trapped etc till there were none left.. To each there own.. but in terms of South Africa or exotics here.. I'm for high fence... I don't want exotics running around here and in Africa, it's better they have animals to hunt over barren landscape.. Also goes back to, if you don't like it, don't do it or watch it...
  3. I am trying to gain access in a town like this in my state.. Have a buddy in another town that wishes his town would go that route.. wondering your thoughts???
  4. First.... depends on the size of the property under the high fence control... In Tex we are talking thousands of acres... not really an issue, more to stop others from sneaking on I'm thinking with that much land... I hunted Africa in one concession that was 12000 acres high fenced... Think it was easy?? Heck no.. If it's 400 well then, my thinking is, if you want to shoot one like that and brag, that's your deal... I wouldn't...
  5. My thinking is... And I'm not trying to irk anyone on here... Is, people that are gonig to make stupid mistakes in life can't be avoided... in anything... Is this a worthy issue to go for 1/2 hour before to a 1/2 hour after by sportsmen or not... Do you think it is worth taking it to the state with facts showing blaze orange increases safety so let us hunt during all hunting light or not??
  6. Down off 7.... Shot a 3 point opening day... Big doe with the bow...
  7. Killed a few in 4Y.. 1 HUGE doe... well over 130 lbs.. .
  8. Personally.. I think we are just losing one of the best hours of the day... AND the fact others are breaking the law and I've not heard of many getting nabbed doing it... Every state is different...
  9. I'll stick with my T/C Renegade and my Pro hunter.... They are pretty to me and VERY accurate...
  10. I was just "guessing" the reason that shooting light is sunrise to sunset was for safety... Giving how effective hunter orange has been and the fact deer can't see it... I thought the extra 1 hour of hunting time each day would be worth it...
  11. Exactly... I can see PERFECT long before sunrise and long after sunset... And with mandatory hunter orange, safety is a non issue with the time... No clue why we can't bow hunt those times now... Unreal... Have your state bow hunter org's work with the state....
  12. To go with blaze orange during gun season and shooting times from 1/2 hour before sunrise to a 1/2 hour after sunset??? We all know guys are shooting at that time any ways... And the guys following the law are losing out... Other states around have it, even my backward azz state does it...
  13. I keep mine on my back pack... Not sure if I'm breaking the law.. but unless the game warden is coming out to my stand.. It will be visible when I'm walking and on me...
  14. 25-06... best whitetail round ever... they don't move and no recoil... Gave my wife mine.. she loves it..
  15. Nikon with the BDC reticle... Thing is amazing for long distance shooting... Took a 3 X 9 to Africa and dropped an awesome Gemsbok at 309 yards... perfect shot... it was all the scope trust me...
  16. I just slit the material to push the barrel out of it... Works great...
  17. These guys are old enough to know better....
  18. What are you swabbing with??? Dry patch or Hoppes???
  19. Their are bad hunters and great hunters everywhere... Lots of locals that hunt poorly, or without ethics... Had a local park in the filed I was hunting after he drove past my truck... Then when he finaly left, he sat in his truck 125 yards from my wifes blind till end of shooting light.. The deer would not come out in the field like they do every night, because they can see the truck from the woods... Wife was not happy.. and yes.. she did wave her orange hat out the blind window and then just left it hanging out so he HAD to see it.. just didn't care... Not worth confronting him.. it's still just a deer...
  20. Great week for sure!! Thanks!!!!!
  21. I've started weighing the charges of Blackhorn 209 instead of volume charging.... Anyone else doing this?? For the life of me off the top of my head I can't think of the weight but used 110 grain volume charge to start it... then just loaded up a bunch of speed loaders with it... Very consistent I've found...
  22. I love front stuffer season!!!! Can't wait to get out there!!!
  23. most states do 1/2 hour before to a 1/2 hour after... Plenty of light then for sure..
  24. I miss it.. especially after seeing some of the loons out rifle hunting.. driving through fields.. parking in fileds hunting out of their trucks.. just insane actions... Was one of the deciding factors in me shooting a 3 point that I passed up with the bow 3 days before... He would just get shot by one of these guys and figured better he be in my freezer than theirs.. I know, not the best management thinking, but my family only eats venison for red meat, we do not buy beef... I'm hoping muzzle loader has less idiots out...
