1 buck can breed about 5-6 does a year.... with them staying with a "hot" doe for up to 3 days.. in most cycles they will only catch maybe 3 does.. then wait 28 days for the next cycle.. fawns concieved after the second breeding cycle have a low survival rate... So anything over a 6:1 doe to buck ratio is no gain in deer populations...

Thinking of getting this caliber in a barrel for my T/C Pro hunter... Anyone ever have or use one??? Thoughts or comments on it??

Did not need hearing protection.. But it was still a bang for sure... less than a 22.. like a fire cracker..

It was actually a 30-06.... She shot it a lot better than mine, less recoil and noise... so we took that out after the Blesbok...

Leapord are up there for sure.. .flew over with a guy from Alaska, he was going on to hunt leapord... I'll stick with plains game... Kudu, Nyala, Red Hartabeest, Eland... Got two more trips to do them in... I'll be ready... Getting a 338-06 I think for the bigger stuff... thinking of taking the 50 cal muzzle loader barrel over too...

Air fare was $1700.00 round trip per ticket.... Yup... but it is a 15 hour flight... I got the hunt (5 days, 3 animals) at an NWTF banquet for $2000.00 (Deal of the century!!! Got the 2014 hunt for 5 days 2 animals for $1500.00!! STEAL!!) add in the 2 extra days (1 before and 1 after required) and the 3 days we wanted to do the tourist thing @ $200.00 per day each person... (Includes food, laundry service daily, room, etc) The Zebra was just under $1700 and the Gemsbok was just under $1800. So... I'm thinking with everything it was $10,000.00 But 6 animals.. 10 days in Africa... Next time I won't have the tourist days so that will knock the cost down a lot.. figure I've got the 2014 hunt and then save for the 2017 hunt...

Went to Africa this past August 19th for my honeymoon... I can't begin to tell you how amazing it was!!!! All animals were shot with my T/C Pro Hunter, 30-06 Nikon 3-9 with the BDC reticle, Federal Fusion 180 grain slugs.... (The wife used the outfitters rifle) All animals were one shot kills... Most went straight down... furthest one traveled was the Zebra, went 75 yards... Then it goes down to 15 yards... Here is my first EVER African game animal.. a gold medal Blesbok.. Took him at 220 yards, dropped in his tracks.. My gold medal Springbuck, shot at 160 yards... The third animal taken was my Zebra Stallion... Great hunt.. the only animal that stopped my slug.. found it 1" in on the opposite side... Then, after many failed stalks... And working 1.5 hours to stalk this one... Finally took this Silver medal impala at 130 yards... Then... After way to many stalks to count... Almost giving up on getting one... I found this 34" Silver medal Gemsbok bull, took him at 309 yards.... And don't think the wife is not a natural born slayer.... LOL Her Gold medal White Blesbok taken at 110 yards...

I tried it on my green and yellow beans in my garden... nothing sprouted... was not thrilled with it... not sure if maybe the seeds were bad??? It was a brand new packet... and for nothing to come up???? Next year I'll do control groups... see if there is a difference...

I think I've said this before... I personally believe if you want to help the herd and make hunters happy.. it should have been put to a 1 buck rule.. period.. no restrictions other than that... you want to shoot a spike.. shoot it and your buck tag is done..

Trust me.. I've put hundreds of rounds through this gun/scope combo.. took a great deer in Alabama with it at 286 yards... No clue what happened.. I emailed the company this morning to see how they want to handle this... Thanks for all the advice...

As some of you know, I'm gonig to Africa in 4 weeks for my honeymoon/safari... Donig some plains game hunting... So I've been shooting my T/C Pro Hunter 30-06 every weekend.... Well this past Saturday... While shooting it I make one last adjustment... 1/2" down to be at 2" high at 100.... Well... I make the adjustment.. smiling away.... I sit down to take the next round... look into my Swift Premier scope and the internal lens are cracked....... So I now had to fly to Cabelas in Ct. to buy another scope (Nikon with the BDC), mount it and get it sighted in... I know I have 3 weekends basically.. but still Glad it happened now.. going to contact Swift and find out if they cover the scope... But wow... Hope nothing else goes wrong later... Anyone else ever have that happen???

Shot 4 does last year and 1 2.5 year old buck.... I would be in the woods for sure...
