"Since the Kyoto Accord was struck in 1997, Energy Department data show, U.S. output of greenhouse gases plunged 7.3%, even though real U.S. GDP over that time has grown a whopping 52%. We're greener today than we have been in decades. Go figure. For all this progress, we can thank the fracking business. ... Here's an idea: If the Nobel committee geniuses really want to reward those who've done the most to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, they should give Gore's Nobel to the U.S. fracking industry." —Investor's Business Daily

NY bill proposal for firearm insurance
Rattler replied to reeltime's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Putting a tax on exercising a constitutional right is also unconstitutional. Remember the poll tax on voting? They got away with forcing people to buy health insurance under Obamacare by saying it was a tax, but that was probably because the Left may have had some dirt on Roberts and threatened to make it public unless he sided with the Leftist judges. If that wasn't the case, Roberts suffered a massive brain fart when he ruled on that one. Most of the gun laws in America are unconstitutional. The only reason they are still on the books is because they don't go before the SCOTUS at all. There are major forces in this country, on both sides of the political aisle, that do not want 2nd Amendment rights exercised the way the founders determined they should be. -
I wanted to go into great detail here, so we all know what is really going on. In its ruling, the Fourth Circuit Court referenced District of Columbia v. Heller, in which the Supreme Court declared weapons that could be classified as "dangerous and unusual" do not fall under the protections of the Second Amendment. In other words, the Supreme Court ruled that fully automatic weapons fall outside the purview of the Second Amendment — or at least these firearms and magazines can be heavily regulated without running afoul of the Constitution. Never mind that the Armed Forces have never issued AR-15s. For SCOTUS, the concern was primarily the function, not the form. The justices weighed it based on the type of firing system — semi-auto vs. fully automatic. The Fourth Circuit Courts deliberately conflated this distinction. If it looks like a military grade weapon, then it must be one, seems to have been the "logic" employed by the erudite Fourth Circuit judges. The Maryland law also bans folding stocks, flash suppressors and grenade/flare launchers — items that may make a rifle look menacing but do not make it functionally any more dangerous or unusual. Besides, if semiautomatic rifles are "unusual," then I don't know what constitutes "usual." The AR-15 is the most popular rifle type in America. Judge William Traxler wrote in his blistering dissent, "The majority has gone to greater lengths than any other court to eviscerate the constitutionally guaranteed right to keep and bear arms." They did this by inventing a new test: whether a weapon is "most useful in military service." I hope this case makes it to the Supreme Court so the justices can finish what they started with Heller — that is, protect the Second Amendment. Until then, Maryland can trample constitutional freedom, and appellate courts will be left to defiantly dismantle Heller one ruling at a time.

NY bill proposal for firearm insurance
Rattler replied to reeltime's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
So, if someone is poor and cannot afford said insurance, they no longer have the right to defend themselves against armed attackers with a firearm? Doesn't that make the right to armed self defense a luxury that becomes the realm of the elite and well to do? Isn't that preferential treatment, class warfare, elitism, pay to play and infringing on a Constitutional right? Isn't the author of this bill a Democrat? Where is the support for working class and low income citizens here? Isn't that what the Democrats always say is their main purpose for existence? -
It really make you wonder how our appeals court system operates under the law. Some appeals courts, find bans on commonly owned AR type rifles are constitutional and some appeals courts find they are unconstitutional. Are these courts all reading the same US Constitution? They are, but some believe it's open to interpretation and some believe only strict constitutional reading, meaning what the founders had in mind at the time, applies. I believe any judge that thinks they can imply what the founders had in mind when they wrote the Constitution, should be impeached for violating their oath to uphold it. There is a huge amount of historical documentation from that period that expands on the intentions of all of the founders regarding the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, that there is no question about their intentions when they wrote it. Arms that are in common usage are completely protected under the 2nd Amendment and every sitting judge knows it. Any decision banning them has political motivation, and any judge ruling that way does too.

Core Democrats be.......
Rattler replied to Rattler's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
The GOP obstructed Obama because everything he did was geared towards turning the country into a third world hell hole. The man hates everything that is good about America because he feels it is the cause of all of the world's problems. His supporters feel the same way. The Democrats are obstructing Trump because they don't want him to correct any of the damage Obama did, while trying to get back into power in the 2018 elections. They're smear campaigns are aimed at retaking the house and senate, so they can stop the Make America Great Again movement. They don't want to see America become great. They want to see it destroyed. -
Well, took a hike up to the cave again today just to see if the bear had returned. No sign of any animal activity at all in the old snow around the opening. Had a good flashlight with me this time and peered into the cave with it. The cave is half full of water. Otherwise it's empty. Guess I won't be telling the DEC to come out when they call me back in March. I was really hoping to see some cubs there.

A perfect example of a Leftist Progressive. She spouts what she is told to think. She obviously never bothered to look into any of the facts before spouting off. They are told what to think and believe what they're told, because that's the way they want things to be, ignoring the way things really are. -

The GOP is not my party, but I'm giving them a lot of credit for fighting off the constant attacks and smears coming from the Democrats, who wholeheartedly intend to destroy this president so he cannot implement the promises he made to the American people that will make America great again. Know what I think the GOP does best? Defending the 2nd Amendment. It's just too bad that they even have to waste time doing that, thanks to constant attacks from Democrats. The GOP does a lot of things well. Everyone who supports them knows what they do well. What I try to do is show people who support Democrats how wrong they are. -

I think they stretch out their wings like that when they are wet and they are trying to dry them out. I see them doing that after every rain storm around here.

and another stupid bill
Rattler replied to rachunter's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Forcing gun owners to pay for liability insurance is just one more attempt to make gun ownership more expensive, thereby causing some current gun owners to give them up and also cause many prospective gun owners to think it's too expensive to get into. When you get down to it, the government is trying to make a Constitutional right too expensive to exercise. That, in itself, is an unconstitutional infringement on that right. -
Make America great again

Trump is correct to call out the mainstream media for its continued negative, antagonistic and dishonest reporting. Much of the media has become little more than a leftist propaganda machine and a willing accomplice in what may best be described as Barack Obama's shadow government. -

To paraphrase an old saying, "Put brain in gear before putting fingers to keypad." The man needs to think about what he's going to put out into the world before he sends it out. He's not having an argument with someone on an internet forum. He's talking to the entire world when he tweets. It's beneath the dignity and importance of his position as the leader of the free world. If he's going to do it, it better be reserved for important messages, not responses to stupid attacks about his daughter's clothing line. -

Every Leftist entity, including the leftist media, is involved in a conspiracy to destroy this man and his entire administration, so he cannot accomplish anything he said he would. The things his supporters want, are also the things the left wants to prevent. He needs to realize half of this country hates him and they don't follow any rules, have no ethics and have no limits, when it comes to their agenda. I swear if all else fails, they will have him assassinated. He is making a mistake by underestimating his enemy's resolve and viciousness. He's not going to win this thing by playing their game or playing fair. He needs to begin a laser focus on policy and ignore all the static that is surrounding him. Be smart enough not to let the media and the leftists make him look bad. Stop giving them ammo to use against him. Play to your political base and anticipate what your enemies will be able twist to their advantage before you make a move. There's a way to get things done when you are being attacked constantly. Start by learning how Reagan did it and follow his example. I didn't want a politician in office, but I did want a man who knew how politicians played the game. -

He should give up posting tweets. He should also ignore the media when attacked. He needs to forget about personal insults and focus entirely on the country and making it great. -

Care to elaborate? I hate Hillary and Democrats and believe Trump was the lesser of two evils, but I have to say, he's no Ronald Reagan. He's just the only viable choice we had to return to the rule of law under the US Constitution. As President, he's making mistakes. I just hope he is as fast a learner as he's said to be. -
American Experience - RUBY RIDGE

I found it, for anyone who wants to see it. http://www.guns.com/2017/02/15/pbs-american-experience-ruby-ridge-video/?utm_campaign=trueAnthem:+Trending+Content&utm_content=58a56d9704d30166be1b0f2d&utm_medium=trueAnthem&utm_source=facebook They also claim he illegally sawed off a shotgun by cutting the barrel less than 18". In fact, he refused to do that, and told the under cover agent it was illegal and he wouldn't do it. He cut them to the minimum legal length. When the UA brought the legal length shotgun barrels to the Feds, they simply sawed them off to an illegal length and had the UA swear Weaver did it. At that point, the Feds became the criminals and they had no concern about taking it to the level of murder, because they could do it and get away with it. The thing I find interesting is how the Feds in the video act like they didn't know what they had done and it was all a mistake. That lost all credibility when, just a few years later, a similar situation played out at Waco, TX. Seems the only difference was, no survivors were left to tell their side of the story in Waco. -
