  1. I just hate it when wifey makes me all paranoid, and I can't even enjoy a steak. I ate 1/4 of it as a test. Tonight I'll eat the rest.
  2. I defrosted a steak. My wife says it smells bad. I say it smells like a piece of red meat you buy at the food store. She says meat should not smell at all. Last year, my meat did not smell at all. this year, my meat got a little warm. it got up to 55 degrees while butchering... for a few hours. She has me all paronoid. My nose is not the best. But I can't accept that's it's rancid. looks ok. Does your meat smell at all??? and if so, like what ??
  3. I have a few hunting rifles, and only 1 has a detachable magazine. It is so much SAFER to unload a rifle with a detachable magazine, than deal with the "contraptions" they designed to build a hunting rifle with non-detachable magazine. These democratic gun grabbers are certainly good at making the world a more dangerous place by trying to ban detachable magazines. My mossberg, to unload the rifle, I physically need to chamber every round, and unload it by operating the bolt, 1 by 1. That is so much more dangerous than just dropping the mag, and unchambering just 1 round. My Browning, has a drop out floor plate, and what a PITA is it to load and unload the mag, while it's still attached to the rifle. I even think it's a dangerous design, all to please the gun grabbers.
  4. I read more bang-flop stories about a .243, than anything else. And the.243 energy leaving big exit wounds. I still can't believe the slug stories. A 12 guage slug is BIG. and heavy.
  5. It's only a problem if your aunt or uncle go balastic. Then your 100% responsible.
  6. It was in stock today at Cabela. Not much left on the shelf, but they had the imported .223
  7. I was in Cabelas today. .223REM ammo, $8 / box. Not much left of it, and they do have a 10 box limit. But it was there. Most of the other ammo was almost sold out as well. Even .22LR.
  8. I think they will go after all semi-automatics. And come knocking at doors, at least in NY. This is not going away. Not with joe and bama in office. Whatever FB friends I didn't loose over the election, I am loosing over the 2A. People just don't get it.
  9. If CB's were legal in bow, I'd hunt during bow season.
  10. It's been so warm outside, probably the ticks are more active than the deer.

    DM A P

I had a DMAP tag for this season. Does that allow me to jacklight, and hunt after hours ? with any hunting implement ?
  12. I tried it, and seen deer run the other way.
  13. I still think it's a good bet. 1 shot at a live squirrel, at least 40 yards away. Does a squirrel jump a bow string
  14. We're NOT talking about my archery skills, I know they suck. We're talking about my $1000 on YOUR archery skills taking a live squirrel at 40 yards.
  15. Your going to bow a little squirrel ?? at 40 yards !!!!!!!!!!! I'd bet $1000 against it.
  16. Are the east end ticks still out with this warm weather ?
  17. Maybe I should carry the DEC #. last weekend, I heard guys who fired 12 rounds within 30 seconds. This happened more than a few times during the course of the day. I can't figure out what they are shooting. Maybe a pistol.
  18. South Hampton, East Hampton, Fire Island, all the same non-sense. Let there be 24/7/365 bow hunting. Problem solved.
  19. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/12/13/new-york-village-looks-to-contraceptive-to-control-deer-population/?test=latestnews
  20. On to the next hobby, I'm working on my car.
  21. The 1st time I ever saw a black squirrel was at the Bronx zoo. The entire area is populated with black squirrels. I don't see too many squirrels in the woods, as they seem more leary of humans than the NYC squirrels.
  22. ok, I'll check out U-tube. I was trying it upstate, and I was certainly thinking about being rushed by a pack of coyotes. especially since I ground hunt.
  23. Anyone hunt by Cox road, on state land ?? Iast year I seen a guy cut the back straps out, and leave the rest for the coyotes. 3M
  24. I don't commute, but I am a city guy, and live in the city. But I know many many people who do the 90 minute commute. They take their NYC high paying jobs, and build a mansion for $200,000 in Orange County.
