  1. It would help if we stated what zone. I saw NOTHING in 3J all season. (4 days) just some coyote scat filled with hair.
  2. It was so windy on sat; I doubt there was any lingering trace of orange men in the woods, or if so, it would have dispersed really fast. still no deer.
  3. There is a guide who gets $600 for a 1/2 day in a blind on the north fork. I was considering taking my son for his birthday, but it's kinda pricey....
  4. I hit the survey too soon. Deer in the woods, or deer crossing the roads ? crossing the roads since opening day, 13. deer in the woods, ZERO.
  5. They eat grapes and all the other farmers crops on the north fork. That's why the farmers get nusiance permits, and jack light 100's of deer every season.
  6. I just got home. Did NOT hear 1 shot all day, and I froze my a$s off. Zone 3. State land had 10 cars parked there. Drove home and passed Harriman state park. Plenty of cars parked there.
  7. They out smarted me today, AGAIN !! While I froze my butt off. and I did Not hear 1 gun shot all day. next weekend, I'll try again for the grand finally.
  8. Dogs and cats (for the most part) do learn how to cross the street, especially the feral ones who live their lives out doors. We have 100 cats behind our building at work, and none have been run down in the parking lot, or the main road.
  9. Then back to the original question: Why didn't they learn to look both ways before crossing a road ? Not that my 10 YO kid has figured that out yet, but eventually he will learn.
  10. I wouldn't stuff a deer in the truck with ticks.
  11. That sounds a lot more healthy than pork fat. My dad just had open heart surgery with a bypass, so the pork fat idea doesn't work for my family.
  12. where does the deer go on a hundai ?
  13. So how do I make a bambi burger ? I have a lot of different cuts from the butcher. one is marked "ROAST Meat" another is marked "STEW Meat" Which cut is best to put through the grinder, and mash them into patties ?
  14. I just read, the DEC issue's BONUS DMP's for certain areas. 1C being one of them, 3S is another. show them a doe, get another tag.
  15. I think a regular pot on the stove for many hours. The meat was well cooked, brown all the way inside. Wifey said she can cook it more.... maybe that would make it softer ? But we havn't done anything with it yet. I have another 10-15 lbs of "stew meat", that I have to do something else with..
  16. Free lunch for the coyote's. I would like to put a stand over a gut pile, and get rid of some pesky coyote's that are killing off all the fawns in Zone 3. I have seen much scat filled with hair, and no deer.
  17. I had a nice guy offer me his stand, (he was walking out, done for the day). I Thought about it, and said no thanks. If I fell out, I'd be laying there until he found me dead next weekend !
  18. Besides the poaching going on, I see more edvidence of coyotee's. I know of 1 guy that took a deer illegally out of DMP zone. He said he has the next zone across the highway, and didn't seem to care. I care because that could have been my first !!
  19. possibly, but I know they do that with the farmers nuisance permits. I didn't know they also do that with the 1C DMP's
  20. I thought it's archery only on Long Island, until January ?
  21. I tried the incents.... nothing. wasted my money. I tried the bottled stuff available in Dicks. another waste of money.
  22. I heard the Buffalo area was like world war 3 on opening day. In my area I heard 8 shots opening morning. then another 4 shots this past weekend. Then I heard 3 shots real close, like the deer was running. I normally don't like hearing that.
