I did a small game one in Vermont my first year hunting. Had a little experience camping but no experience hunting so we didn't catch anything. Went with my bro and a buddy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I would do a back country hunt but I would need a whole lot of advance notice for that. My son it too much for one person to handle by themselves for extended periods of time.

Hopefully we can keep it a "all HuntingNY" league because otherwise it would just turn into any random public league and that wouldn't be any fun.

Hunting Etiquette/Unwritten Rules when around other Hunters

Ditto on the scope for binos. Buy a simple monocular if you have to. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Hunting Etiquette/Unwritten Rules when around other Hunters
Elmo replied to uberyan's topic in Deer Hunting
Generally, if I see another hunter but they're facing the other way, I leave them alone and stalk in a different location. If they facing towards me, I'll wave my hat as a "hello" and stalk in the opposite direction of whatever corridor it looks like they're hunting. I'll even use hand signals to let them know which direction I'm going to walk towards and give them an opportunity to express objection. Some times, I'm so close to the hunter before I even realize they're there that I start a conversation with them. Ask them what direction they're hunting and I'll walk in a direction so that I might kick deer towards them. Whatever you do though, don't make a lot of noise to scare/alert the animals. If you show proper etiquette, most hunters won't have an issue with you. It's public land. Everyone has just as much rights to be there and no one expects to have the whole place to themselves. -
I use Winchester #6 steel shot. Have never had to take a second shot ever. I tend to use the Ruger 10/22 even in early season as I'm more interested in the challenge than reaching a bag limit. I do bring the 12 gauge the next time if I strike out 22LR.

Every time Tapatalk refreshes, all the threads appear unread even if I had just read them. Makes it almost impossible to get to the threads on the bottom of the list. Every time I open Tapatalk, I have over 60+ unread threads. -
HuntingNY of course.

Oh, that sucks. I'm really sorry to hear that. Some times when I'm down in the dumps or if I'm really peeved I head out into the woods and the calming effect of nature helps me re-center myself. Glad you're back though. Let me know whenever you setup a group hunt.

I'm in. People need to name their team name after their screen name so we know who's who. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Great event by the guys at Suffolk Archers. Had a wonderful time and learned a lot on deer calling from NFA-ADK. Thanks for hosting. -

New York Presbyterian has multiple outer locations but their main location is in upper Manhattan. If she is at the main location then Crown Heights is a really long commute for her. She would find comparable living in the west side of Washington Heights. They completely gentrified the west side of Washington Heights and tried to get the name changed to Hudson Height but was successful in the name change. The other option would be the west section of Inwood or any where in Riverdale. That is of course if she is at the main New York Presbyterian. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

When I first got into hunting/shooting, I asked my brother (who is in the military) for his opinion and he suggested the Remington 700 in 308 due to his familiarity with it in the military so that's what I went with. I picked the VTR trim because I thought it looked cool and unique.

My deepest condolences to you and your family. So sorry to hear.

Happy birthday, little one!

Pretty much all of Manhattan is either government subsidized (ghetto projects) or luxury apartments. Brooklyn and Long Island City has become the new hipster areas. As BK said, Crown Heights isn't bad but it's also not the best place to stumble around drunk and pass out in a corner either. A little common street smarts and Crown Heights is perfectly fine. My SIL and her husband live in Crown Heights. Both are pharmacists.

I got married at the wrong time. My single friends use the upgraded feature on Tinder and are killing it. I had to do things the old fashion way back then.

He has a girlfriend. I suspect he was out cheating. My theory is that he tried to swing a ménage à trois. While one girl kept him occupied, the other went through his belongings. Now he had to come up with a story as to why his wallet was missing when his girlfriend caught him stumbling back in the morning.

I'm assuming that's a typo.

Don't really hear much from him. Last time I texted him was over a month ago and he told me he might not hunt much this year because he's been so busy.
