Happy birthday!

Sorry for your loss. My deepest condolences.

That was what I was saying. James Bond's story was not race specific. His race doesn't change the story. The only true requirement for the James Bond story to work was that he had to be a British citizen. Bruce Lee had to be Asian because you're talking about a real life person. But Hollywood don't care. They've done it several times already. Tom Cruise in "The Edge of Tomorrow" is based off of the book "All You Need Is Kill". In that story, the main character is a "young Japanese recruit" by the name of Keiji Kiriya. But rather than cast such a actor, they changed the name to Cage and used Tom Cruise instead. But it plays well because the race of the main character does not effect the story. But the real one that takes the cake is the movie "21". It is based on a real life actual person name Jeff Ma. For the movie, they change his name to Kevin Lewis and used a white guy.

Bad comparison because Bruce Lee is an Asian male. James Bond is a British citizen which could technically be of any race. Or in the case of Scarlett Johansson, any gender as well. Financially, they scoffed at the idea but after the success of Marvel's Black Panther, I think they're now opened to the idea.

And Jesse Owens wasn't American?

What's the coldest temperature you can remember hunting in
Elmo replied to Hunter007's topic in General Chit Chat
-4 F. Sterling Forest. The tube to my CamelBak froze solid. Even with the cover. I stopped using CamelBaks for hunting after that. -
I don't like too much stuff on my dogs. To me, if you have a good dog, you don't want to mask the flavor too much.

Grays Papaya recession special. 2 hot dogs and a coconut champagne drink. Not really dinner. Just a snack on my way home. Maybe this belongs in the hot dog thread? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Does your wife, girlfriend or daughter - hunt, shoot or fish
Elmo replied to rob-c's topic in General Chit Chat
My wife likes to be in the woods but isn't into the killing part. She'll look away on the shot. And leaves during the processing. She'll come to the range when she cans. She doesn't particularly enjoy shooting but feel that it's a skill she should know or be comfortable with. -
You could be mugged flashing jewelry around. Not too many cat burglars are going to haul out a full body elephant mount.

And most likely you have to be single as well. "No, hon, I am not driving a mini-van and we are not getting a second car. Oh, by the way, I'll be in Africa next month."

I too am in the "if it's legal, why not" group. But just to play devil's advocate, on one end the legality of something is almost always determine by politicians with little concern of the subjects that the law applies to. We also know that politicians can be bought. On the other end, I also believe in the laws of economics and free trade. Once monetary value is placed on an animal, greed and supply and demand will take over and assure that there will be ample supply to maintain the industry.

I'm no scope expert so I'm asking the question myself. Isn't it the recoil that rattles a scope? Are "22mag" scopes not designed to handle the recoil of say a 300 winmag? Wouldn't the scope rings be just as important if not more so than the scope then in this case? I don't know if any of this is true but that's what I use as my basis on deciding on scopes for my rifle. I figure a 22LR just doesn't produce enough recoil that any scope would do. I have a Simmons on my 10/22 and save my coins for better scopes for my higher caliber rifles.

Wife and I are so close to being empty nesters we can taste it
Elmo replied to rob-c's topic in General Chit Chat
Me and my wife are close to being empty nesters too! But by nest, we mean room. We'll move the youngest one's crib out of our room the moment he can sleep through the night. Woo!!! -
Climate change isn't about it being hot today and cold tomorrow. It is the temperature of the entire planet averaged out over a prolong period of time. If it's on average 2 degree warmer in Africa the last couple of years, generally, it's 2 degrees warmer every where else during the same period of time. Yes, ice cores won't tell you how hot it was in Africa on January 7th, 1157 but it'll tell you on average the temperature of the world as a whole was in around 1157 https://www.americangeosciences.org/education/k5geosource/content/climate/how-do-scientists-use-ice-cores-to-determine-past-climates https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/how-are-past-temperatures/ .

Leonardo was a child actor. He was most likely a millionaire before he could even legally drive. He had no need for school. I am not proclaiming him to be a genius but by him deciding not to finish school but instead to focus on his career doesn't give me enough facts to say for certain that he is "dumb". Basically you're judging him by his cover. Also the argument that most actors are dumb is a generalization in itself. Denzel Washington graduated from Fordham University while Mira Sorvino and Natalie Portman are both Harvard grads. But lets go back to the chain of the conversation. Someone said Leonardo is on the climate change bandwagon so he can earn a fancy plane. I responded with a "no he didn't, he actually donated money" to which you responded..."oh yeah...he's dumb anyway." That's a red herring argument. What does his intelligence even matter when my statement was on whether he is for or against climate change for profit. Heck, I myself haven't even stated whether I believe in climate change or not. (Which by the way, I do believe in climate change but I also think it's being overly used to blame some things that are not a result of climate change.) Another.."by the way". Natalie Portman, who having graduated from Harvard, is a climate change believer.
