  1. "Over? Did you say over? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the German's bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no! And it ain't over now! Cause when the going gets tough.. The tough get goin'. Who's with me?"
  2. And now I realize that I am even dumber than I previously thought when it came to deer hunting. LOL. Great post! thanks for taking the time to explain your thoughts on the weather and it's effect of deer movement. I will definitely read this a few times and use it in future practice.
  3. I did an experiment a couple of years back as I always take a ton of time to make sure there is no fat, silver skin, connective tissue etc. in my ground because I always heard it affects the flavor. Anyways that year I trimmed up the fat and what not but not to the extent that I normally do and honestly I could taste the difference in the meat and I did not like it. I still ate everything but I did not look forward to it like I normally do. Now I am back to spending way to much time trying to get nothing put pure meat for my ground. Some still makes it through and I am sure I am wasting a bit more than others but it's how I like it. Everyone has different taste buds so what I experienced others may not.
  4. Bob - thank you for sharing their story and make sure you tell them it’s much appreciated. Makes you remember what it’s all about. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I agree with everyone else it’ll be fine. One day isn’t enough to offset the cold we had. On top of that you packed em with ice. I always panic as well when the temps get in the 40’s but it’s always ok. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. It's a baby squatch. It hasn't learned how to walk yet. I'd approximate age at 2-3 weeks old and 74 pounds.
  7. Oh man I cant believe you all report late and chance it like that. I report it as soon as I fill the tag out. Wouldn't want to get in trouble! Kidding I'm like all y'all slackers and have a tendency to report it late. This year was only 3 days after so that's a win!

  10. If I cut them any bigger I can’t eat it all in one sitting then they get reheated which sucks. I cut them to this size get the cast iron pan nice and hot then maybe 2-3 min each side and they are a nice medium rare. Allows me to have them seasoned a bunch of different ways as well. I finished up the entire buck today. 52 packages of vacuum packed goodness. I didn’t weight it to see how much I got. Hardly ever do. Just count the different packages. 13. Today’s butcher block episode is brought to you by the letter “V”. “V” is for vodka as in someone had to much of it last night as was not waking up to go hunting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Do it you won’t regret it! I started taking mine at 5 years old. Don’t have any high expectations of seeing deer or staying out long but it’s a ton of fun. Bring snack, books, headphones, hot coco. Anything to just get a little more time out of them. I hope to get one of mine out this afternoon for a sit Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Dark to dark in the rain didn’t see anything but at least I stayed dry with the tree umbrella. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. This just feels like the right thing to do. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  18. In comes the rain. Looks like I’m stuck under this umbrella for a while. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Try putting a single light bulb in the refrigerator that’s always on. I use a work shop style with the metal guard. Something about the warmth of the bulb is enough to warm the fridge occasionally and make the compressor kick on and keep the freezer working. I’ve done it with a compact fluorescent and it worked for me. I’d assume LED would not work because they really don’t give off heat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Awesome! Can’t wait to see some better pictures he looks like a beast! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    First buck

I wish I had some of your guys memories! Pretty sure my first buck was a tiny 5 pointer. Probably one of the first non spiked bucks I’d seen in the woods. I couldn’t tell you what year let alone the date. I can tell you I shot it with a Remington 1100 because that’s the gun I’ve been hunting with for years ever since I had a 20ga 870 stolen the day before opening day. 23. Luckily I don’t have to deal with yotes. 5-6 hours is a lot of time with yotes close by. I’d stick with your original plan. Good luck! Post up the outcome Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
