  1. I'm back at it again. Haven't been in the woods since last Sunday. I'm going to hunt the morning then go get my daughter for an evening hunt. I already bumped as small one on the way in and had a buck pass by 100 or so yards away. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
  2. Congrats Larry! What a day you had. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
  3. Here's my pheasant hunting buddy. Much younger in this picture than she is now.
  4. She's in for a disappointing hunting future after that kind of start!!!!! It's another reason why I never shoot the monster bucks, I don't want to be disappointed the following year with a measly 10 pointer!!! KIDDING Congratulations goes out to her and her father great job and know doubt hooked for life now!
  5. When I first started hunting as a young teenager I really didn't have much money to go out and buy all new hunting clothes so most of what I wore was hand me downs from my Uncle and Friends. 20 years later I still wear a lot of those clothes by choice and by fear that if I change things up my luck will change in the field! I have upgraded a lot of the important gear to help me stay warm but I still wear the same old pants, turtle neck and long sleeve shirts.... Just in case
  6. Papist, everyone can learn from your shear determination to find this deer. I am so glad you found him after all of your effort and even though there will be no meat to enjoy you recovered the rack of this beautiful animal and will have a great story to go along with it to tell until the end of time. You not only made us hunters proud but you gave that animal justice as well. Congratulations are indeed in order!
  7. Oh man gotta love kids!!!!! They can make everything better
  8. I say wait for the morning unless you have a coyote problem in the area.
  9. Has he converted any of those cans into a telephone string we can contact him on? Lol

Every summer I camp inside the park and have always been interested in hunting it. I have only seen the tourist parts of the park as I am always with family but I would love to go explore off the beaten path. I live less than a hour away from the park and to me like someone already mentioned this would be like hunting the big woods of the Dak's without the far drive.
  11. I've always used a Semi 12ga shotgun. Just last year our area opened for rifle and I still used the 12ga all season. It's nothing special just a Remmy 1100 with a rifled barrel and a 1x red-dot scope on it but its incredibly comfortable and i'm completely confident in its abilities that I don't feel the need to switch to anything else.
  12. Nothing interesting for me either. Moho was/is my nickname from highschool due to my impossibly long Polish last name. I really don't get called by it much anymore but as a forum name I still use it everywhere. and the 81 is for the year is was born.
  13. I have also used a product called shoe goo to patch a crack in the rubber boot that happened mid season. I cleaned and scuffed the area then applied a few thin layers of the shoe goo and so far after a year of use it hasn't cracked and is still water proof. If i remember right I got the shoe goo at Dick's over in the shoe section.
  14. One pair of light weight socks for the walk out to the stand so I don't sweat then once at the stand the toe warmers and a heavy pair of socks go on for the day. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
  15. I wear 1000g Rubber boots and any temp below 40 I need use toe warmers to keep my feet warm. My next purchase is going to be the 2000g as well. Hopefully it works. I also have thought about buying electric socks but haven't seen any good reviews of those either.
  16. Maybe she can score me some of the lucky fireballs I've read so much about. Magic hour is upon us! Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
  17. Back at it this evening. Rain stopped about 45 min ago the temperature is dropping with just a light breeze in the air. Only thing missing is my daughter who picked trick or treating over sitting out in the woods with me. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
  18. I love reading these stories. It makes me happy seeing a dog do what it was bred for and the happiness that the dog has for doing it is priceless. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
  19. Absolutely beautiful buck! Congratulations! Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
  20. New guy here live from 8g. Nothing moving yet. I'm in a spot that seems to have a lot of activity around 9-10am I'm hoping this stays true. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
  21. I figure after almost a year of lerking on this forum I might as well sign up and introduce myself. I hunt in 8g and primarily for deer now. Been shot gun hunting for almost 20 years now and just this year got into bow hunting in fact I'm making this post from my tree stand trying to cure a bit of bordum. I'm looking forward to another fun year. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
