  1. A biscuit is capable of shooting just as tight as a drop away. Dont let the marketing fool you lol. Plus, theres nothing to break or go out of timing for any reason. I can also lay my bow across my lap in the stand, pick it up to take a shot and not worry about what position the arrow is in. Now that I have really started tuning the sight in, my arrows are laying against each other at 20 and 30 and my groups are down to 1 or 2 inches at 40. Its good enough for hunting, plus I can play around with it a bit more and as I shoot more it will get batter. You have to remember I havent shot in almost a year lol.
  2. I have emailed and havent heard anything back. I am very interested and would like to talk to you about this. Thanks.
  3. Shes all sighted in and good out to 40. The sight has 5 pins, but Ill be taking 2 off. I might move one all the way up to be a 10 yard pin just for the heck of it though. My last sight has .029 pins, this one has .019 pins and it makes a huge difference. At 20 and 30 yards my groups tightened way up, but that might be because Ive shot a few times and my form is getting back to where it needs to be. I know I can see alot better with the smaller pins though.
  4. I ended up trading one of my older trailcams (Moultrie D40) for a new (to me) sight for my bow today. I got a 5 pin Copper John Dead Nuts Pro with the 3rd plane bar. It has the optional flip cap and light on it. I took my old 3 pin Tru-Glow sight off and put it on my fiance's bow. I just got my bow sighted in the other day and now I have to do it again lol.
  5. These guys are trying to turn Deer hunting into Bass fishing. Its a bunch of crap and will not catch on. The two sports are way too different. Look who has a big part in this, Kevin VanDam, a Bass "pro".
  6. Um, not sure if you were aware but trees do not grow up ;D They grow from the top, they grow out meaning they have a growth ring year to year making them bigger around but nothing you attached to the tree will be any higher than it was 50 years before. Haven't you ever seen a wire fence going through a tree? Is there an echo in here?
  7. I always think about it, just havent gone in the fall yet. I might give it a try this year.
  8. The balls were sitting on the dirt embankment. Some of them were pushed into the dirt a bit, I dont know if this one was or wasnt. I think VJP is right, it hit the core in a manner that slowed it down enough to stay in there. I have another one that went right through, but it wasnt in the core, it stayed in the outside layer. These were FMJs, Remington UMCs to be exact.
  9. I have one, its one of the big, squareish ones. I have seen deer out of it, but havent taken any yet. I use it mostly for taking my daughter out. I am going to try shooting my bow out of it this year.
  10. Oh I could hit another one, thats not that hard lol. I just meant I probably couldnt hit one just right so the round stayed in it. Most of them that I was shooting would go flying up over the berm into the weeds and we couldnt find them, others would roll to the top of the mound and then back down, but the bullets went right through, but this one didnt.
  11. It was at 100 yards. I couldnt believe it. I hit another one at 200 that went right through the ball. I dont know why, but this one just hit the ball the right way to get it caught in there.
  12. A buddy and I were at the range today with our 223s just burning some time and ammo. He had found some old golf balls laying around so he put them up on the 100 yard mound. I put a few up at 200. I started shooting them and when we went to check them I discovered a shot that I had made that will probably prove to be once in a lifetime. I shot a golf ball at 100 yards in such a way that the round got caught inside of it. I found the ball laying at the bottom of the berm wh a small hole on one side and big bulge in the other. I brought it home and just got done cutting it open. The following pics are what I found. Pretty cool. Heres the ball, you can see the entrance hole and the chunk I cut out. also the bullet and a casing... Here are a couple shots of the bullet... And one more of the inside of the ball... I probably couldnt repeat this again if I tried.
  13. No, I already have a climber and another ladder stand besides my 2 man stand. Mobility isnt the issue, in this particular spot theres only 1 tree that I can get a stand into and I cant get a ladder stand in there. A hang on is a bit more expensive, but its the only way I can get into the spot effectively.
  14. That's a pretty iron-clad definition. I don't think that leaves a whole lot of room for interpretation or question. I do think it would have been clearer to straight out say that if it is a food attractant, it is automatically assumed to be illegal bait or food for deer. Right, its completely straight forward, just like I said, if its not for the deer to eat, its legal. Urine (scrape) scented soil would fit the definition since its not made for the deer to eat. Same goes for a scent dripper as long as you arent dripping c'mere deer (or something like that) out of it.
  15. For bow season, Ill shoot any 8 point or better this year. I just want to get an archery buck under my belt. Ill shoot just about any doe with the bow.In fact, the first doe to walk by is getting whacked.
  16. Shedding maybe? I actually see alot of deer with patches like this during the summer.
  17. Ill be in my stand on opening weekend (sat, sun, mon) 1 hour before sunrise until I either shoot something or it gets dark again. After that, it depends on what the activity looks like. I have different spots I like to sit in the morning and afternoon.
  18. Thanks for the heads up guys. Doe, that stand looks ok, but I want something with a bigger platform. Ive been looking at one at Dick's that has the large platform, shooting rail and is only $69 on sale. I have a coupon to use there as well for 15% off. http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4286149&cp=2367438.2367824.2292572.2292573 Last time I was there, BassPro had the Gorilla or API steps for the same price.
  19. As deep as you can afford to go lol. The deeper the gravel, and better the drainage, the longer it will last. Make sure to mix stone dust in with the top layer of gravel, and have it rolled in with a big roller, it will help keep it together. My dad had a gravel drive way that was 10" deep rolled in with a pretty big roller and then did the stone dust and it lasted a little over 30 years before it started getting a few potholes in it. The potholes really only happened after the town dug up the end of the driveway to put in a culvert. He paved it after that happened.
  20. Id say 120s for that last one. The sparring pics are awesome! Nice pics!
