  1. Nice Pics. That 4th one is cool, the main beams are so tall and almost touching. Give that deer a couple more years and he should have a really cool looking rack on him.
  2. I shoot mine every year before the season. If the gun falls or gets bumped hard for any reason, I throw a couple of rounds through it to make sure. With my slug gun, I would shoot it more often if it wasnt so darn expensive. I shoot my TC Encore every time I go to the range as its not expensive to shoot and requires more practice than my shotgun.
  3. Yeah Im thinking I may have the guy make another string for me and Ill put it in my archery parts bin. I stopped over at Bullzeye today and dropped off my bow and started looking at some of the bows over there. Ive been looking at the Elites, but they do not carry them there anymore, though the owner wouldnt say why. After talking to him for a while, I think Im going to stick with my original plan of buying Hoyt. I shot the Maxxis 35 and my lord its nice. I am thinking that will be the one I go with. I might get the Alphaburner if I find a good deal on one.
  4. Doc Im just replying back to the notion that renters have some kind of advantage over owners, thats all. Sice you brought it into the discussion, I figured it was fair game. Im not trying to start any argument here, just throwing my 2 cents in.
  5. Well, with the season getting close, the guy was swamped. Took just over 3 weeks after we figured out the exact measurements. I was starting to wonder though. When I do get another bow, this one will be my backup, and I will practice with both of them regularly so that I can shoot just as well with either one.
  6. I got my new string and cable today and they look great! I am taking my bow in to the shop tomorrow to drop it off so they can string and tune it. With any luck, Ill be shooting next week! Ill be putting some serious practice time in since I havent shot in almost a year. The lesson I have learned from all this is that I need to own at least 2 bows!
  7. Doc, you need to look up the facts, a multi family residence is assessed at a different rate. Regardless, the notion that renters "skate by" and have any advantage over someone that rents is just plain silly. If you call never owning equity in something an advantage, just because you are not directly paying taxes, then youre right. Why dont you rent by the way? Oh and your income tax based system can never work out, you may want to do some reading on the fair tax plan. Its the real answer to our nation's financial woes. Letting the retired individuals that have run through their retirement get by without paying taxes makes no sense.
  8. Pretty good show. D&DH is probably my favorite hunting show at this point.
  9. I dont think thats necessarily true. Those guys could be out there hunting for a week or two or even more, you just see a few minutes worth of film when they either saw or shot a deer. When I hunt my area, a day doenst usually go by without a sighting or two. Now if I get a shot, thats a different story. Once in a while I go without seeing anything, but not that often.
  10. How the hell do renters skate by anything? Those who own (in reality lease from the government) acquire equity in the property. Renters are paying more than the taxes on a place and they end up with nothing in the end. LOL, thats the funniest thing Ive seen in a while.
  11. Not just arguments for us everyday folks, but they could use the data to create a better foundation when they make or are proposing a law change or new regulation. Add mandatory harvest data (accountability on all tags) before you get your new tags, and youve got a great system to pull stats from. Thats another thread though....
  12. I agree but when does science go out the window and opinions take over. Im not saying that they should take the poll data and directly use it to make law, but what the people want should be taken into consideration. I just said that they could stop the bickering by asking the same exact question of everyone that hunts, not just 500 or less people.
  13. I hear ya. You might call the local DEC office and just run the question by them and see what they say. Id be interested in hearing that answer as well.
  14. See, the DEC could stop all of this bickering and just have people take a 5 or 10 question poll when they buy their license each year. They could ask everyone the same set of questions each year and change up what questions are asked from year to year. That would be the one and only way that they could get a true feeling for how the hunting community really feels about certain subjects. If done correctly, all of the data could be broken down by WMU that the people live in and many other ways.
  15. Yes, I am pretty sure it is. There is no mention of FMJ ammo in the regs, at least as far as I can find.
  16. Its for hunting in Africa. Ill have to post another video of people shooting some elephant guns if you liked that video....
  17. bubba, I am sorry, but I am getting mixed signals from your replys. In your first reply you stated ( careful noodle one next you will be stupid) . What doses that mean? ( lacking intelligence, dull, senseless, pointless). In your next reply you stated that you actually were siding with me. I in no way enjoy attacking individuals, but when someone insults or attacks me ,I DEFEND MYSELF.When a group of people try to inpose their wants and ideas on others and I feel it is wrong, then yes, I do speak up. If there was a misunderstanding on my part, then I am sorry. Im almost 100% sure Bubba meant something along the lines of "Be careful what you say or next thing you know, some one will call you stupid". He wasnt attacking you, Bubba doesnt underhandedly attack anyone, he comes right out with it when he does it.
  18. I use the Rocky base layers, just as good as UA and less than half the price.
  19. LOL, just because its possible, doesnt mean you should do it.
  20. Its not about "feeding deer", its about what is legal and what is not. Food plots are legal, C'mere Deer is not.
  21. Well, then you have the Finger Lakes/Western NY area, which isnt much like SE region. Lots of ag out here and plenty of big deer. Lots of hunters though.
  22. I always like this one 60 CAL. PISTOL (600 Nitro Express Handgun)
  23. How about this guy? Bullet Ricochet Nearly Kills Shooter
