Yeah it looks like a bag of dicks, but fish seem to love them. Mostly the females...

Yeah this is getting me a bit hyped up for the water to open up! Im gonna end up sitting around going through my tackle bag this weekend lol. My buddy bought a new bass boat at the end of last year. He just bought a linked bottom and side scan setup for it. Ill probably be at his place helping him install it as soon as it comes in. One thing his new boat has, that I would highly recommend after using them, are power poles. It sure is nice to get into a spot, drop those in and stay firmly planted not having to use the trolling motor. Plus if you want to stay there, but just adjust the angle of the boat, pull one up, leave the other in and use the trolling motor to spin on a dime, then drop the second pole back in when you have it where you want it.

Yep, I do that as well, in the weeds. The colors I usually use are the Bama Bug, Baby Bass, Pumpkin and Watermelon. I have a bag of Chartuse with green flake that I picked up on sale last year, just havent used them yet. When Gander Mountain was still around, their brand stick worms were awesome, work just as well as Senkos for alot less. It was the only thing I went there to buy with any regularity. My buddy has molds and makes them as well. He uses quite a bit of salt in his, plus adds short hairs on one end. The bass love them.

Yeah I have a couple of prop baits, but I like buzz baits better than those. They sit in the box, dry as a bone most years.

Having the weight placed on the hook with a wacky rig gives it a whole different action. The weight is extremely light, like 2 grams, so they slowly kind of flutter down, they do not sink fast at all. I havent had a ton of luck with Spro frogs, although I always have a few in my bag. For topwater I generally use the Rapala Skitter Pops, BPS frog Poppers and sometimes a Moss Mouse. Buzz baits do pretty well on occasion as well.

Ill have to give that a shot. Love some smallie action. Heres a few pics from a spring day, I wont say when or where, but these are just the big ones we caught in the first 45 mins of being on the lake, in the same cove, all but one on wacky rigged Senkos, and one on a Senko that I had rigged kind of a Texas/wacky combo just to see what would happen. There were many smaller ones other than these as well.

Trust me, you can skip them with those hooks all day long. When my buddy and I fish, even in tournaments, all we do is skip these under docks. The small amount of weight gives them a really neat action as well. Just cast it, alet it drop for a few seconds with your rod tip down, then pull up on your tip a foot or two, reel a bit and let it drop again. Kind of like fishing a jig but very slow. Be ready to set the hook on the drop. Once you figure out what color they like, youll be hammering them like crazy. I shouldnt be posting this....lol

Try getting rid of that snap swivel and wacky rig them using these hooks. Youll only find them at Walmart, and they are cheap. You can do the same thing with a creature. You can thank me later...

.223 for deer how far would you shoot a deer with one ?
WNYBuckHunter replied to Hunter007's topic in Deer Hunting
In my experience, you have it backwards. That 1:7 twist barrel is going to like something around the 62 grain mark, the 1:8 might like a 55. 1:7 spins it faster than the 1:8 -
I live off the beaten path as well, its a 30 min drive just to F&S or Dicks but I used to go quite a bit. I too do a 35-40 min drive to BPS in Auburn. Its 25 mins to the nearest mall from my place. Im not sure what ...Rob's point was.

LOL, who wrote that? I remember helping a buddy work up loads for different AR uppers he had. One has a 1:7 twist, we ran some 55 grain through it once and at 100 yards, the bullets literally fragmented before they hit the target. Youd get all of these small pin holes all over, and the others would sometimes be like a side profile of the bullet. I think the best group of tumbling 55grain he got out of that barrel was for all of the shots to be on the 12"x12" target. Heavier bullets would be perfect round holes in nice groups though. The same 55s he worked up worked pretty well in my bolt gun with a 1:12 twist. -
This is the second year for this thread, very similar to the Live From The Woods deer hunting thread. Post in this thread using your smart phone (or other device you can get to the internet with) from your boat, stream, farm pond or wherever you are trying to fool those fish with your thoughts, current conditions, pictures, sightings, etc. Don't forget, the site is accessible via your mobile device and there is even an app - Tapatalk enabled! Lets see those pics!

Hes gonna need an adult coloring book after he sees this... -
Actually the age restriction has NOT been included in the bill that they presented at the federal level. Unless its something passed my an individual state, its not going anywhere.

How much Land do you own ?
WNYBuckHunter replied to JR60's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
I have 15 acres, mostly woods with a small creek and a couple of clearings that will become food plots this year. We just purchased it this year, and I have some information about the hunting around us, but no experience yet, so we will see. Supposedly the neighbors all hunt low pressure and are picky about what they shoot. It is not my primary hunting area though. -
In one year they have gone from 47.29/share to 31.92/share. How is that being in good shape?
-
Fine by me.

Saying that they "go above and beyond" is not the same as what Dicks has done. They have been outright calling for an assault weapons ban, among other things.

Walmart hasnt been making a public push for gun control. Thats my big problem with DSG. They can choose to sell whatever they want to whomever they want for all I care. I think its a dumb move on their part, but actively pushing for legislation? That to me is a problem.
