Rifle spotting scope
WNYBuckHunter replied to Merlot's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
I had good luck with cameraland, but stopped using them since they stopped carrying Vortex -
They are restructuring, not going out of business

So you slice the backstrap into 1/8” thick strips about 4” long, put a spoonful of the jalapeño cream cheese on each strip, roll it up, then wrap the opposite direction with a strip of bacon. Put them in a 9x13 pan, bake at 400 for 20 mins then set the broiler on high, move them to the top rack and broil till the bacon is crispy. Pretty easy.
-
I did Them in the oven this time. Usually I do Them on the grill
-
Bacon wrapped blackstrap filets stuffed with home made jalapeño cream cheese. Mashed taters and green beans for sides

That’s right about what I was Thinking. 10ft transport disc. Already started looking.
-
Are you using a 3pt disc or a travel disc?
-
Yep. We need it. We’ve been stranded back on our 1/2 mile private road for 2 days twice this winter. Plus I want To buy loads of logs for firewood and I’ll need to move them with the tractor. It really surprises me that none of the neighbors have a tractor back here. We’ve only been here for a few months and realized it’s a necessity.
-
I’m looking to pick up a 6 foot brush hog and a disc this spring. I have To do a little looking on what size disc this will handle. A snow plow setup is also something we need.
-
4 wheel drive of course!
-
The sales guy said that Kioti is bringing their full hydro out for 2018. I’m not a big fan of hydro trans on any tractor bigger than a lawn mower.
-
It’s not a full hydrostatic transmission, just hydro for the forward/reverse shuttle. Gears are all manual. Same type of setup as the JD I use At the farm.
-
This morning we made a deal on a tractor. We ended up buying a leftover 2017 Kioti DK4510 HS with a loader from the local Kioti dealer. The paperwork just has to be finished Monday morning and they will be swapping the commercial tires out for AGs and loading them with rim saver, which is actually beet juice. Should be a perfect setup for us. Can’t wait to have it delivered and start getting to work with it.

What do you think is the best rifle ever made?
WNYBuckHunter replied to Hunter007's topic in General Chit Chat
It was the R93 that had the issue, and the R8 isnt anywhere near 8 grand. Unless you are talking about their "professional hunter" or one of the other super high end damn near custom models. You can get into one for around $3500 new -
things are looking up!

You are a little ways from me, but I have an extra set of those rings laying around, though they are low height. You could still use the clamps and screws, then mail me the ones from the replacement you get from Cabelas later. I wont need them for a while.

That makes my mangina hurt

Well Mycek is a vegan and looks like Gollum, so I have no interest in listening to her ideas on what is hot or sexy.

Id have to look at a topo map, but having an idea of the area you hunt, I can kinda guess at how it lays out. I tried not to get too crazy, but here are some spots I would definitely at least want to look at. Exact stand placement would depend on what I saw in that area once I had boots on the ground, of course. All stands would be 25-50 yards from the field edges inside the woods Red star - In the thick stuff near the super thick crap with a predominately WSW wind and a point sticking into a crop field. That looks like a good situation to me. Blue star - Sounds like you have a bit of a ridge in that area that runs between bedding and crops, plus the inside corner. I would probably have another stand a bit South and East of that one in the same general area to cover the edge of the thick and open hardwoods. Orange star - Similar reasons as Blue, but would have to wait for an Easterly wind for that one Purple star - Im guessing that deer are going to be crossing from the woods in the upper left corner, over to your section of woods. I would want to cover that area at times. Access would be a bit on the tough side, and definitely only with the right winds. Yellow star - Inside corner, alfalfa field, looks like pretty low impact access.

I have a Viper and love it. One of the nicest scopes I have ever looked through. I have and have had a bunch of Crossfire and Crossfire 2s. They are very nice glass, especially for the price. I havent looked into anything in between the two yet, but I have a few rifles that need better glass, so thats why Im curious.

Ill be interested to see how you like the Diamondback HP. I havent had one of those yet.

Frost seeding clover, oats?
WNYBuckHunter replied to sailinghudson25's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
I have frost seeded clover a few times. I do it right about now usually. I try to time it so that the seed hits bare-ish ground, but Ive spread it on top of snow before, and it works just fine. I have never spread any fertilizer with it. -
