I agree, I was just using the low hanging fruit as a quick, easy example.

Even when they "go nocturnal" they still have to be somewhere during daylight hours. You need to be able to find that somewhere and figure out how to approach it, or get there before they do.

Yeah, i have big feet for a shortish guy. Sounds like you had a great day as well. I forgot my cards so didnt run the cams today. Gonna head down tomorrow and swap cards and move the cams quick. Yep, plots are doing good, we have great soil. Zero fertilizer on them this year BTW. We were thinking of doing some fertilizer but i dont think we are gonna bother. Maybe next year. Next weekend i am going to finally break in and sight my 308. Everything will be ready to go after that. -

Spent the day at the farm today. Checked the plots, they are doing pretty good. Few pics, first one is the Ground Hog Radish and Dwarf Essex Rape plot... Next one is the Evolved Habitat Great Lakes mix... Last is the other buck in a bag mix. It has peas, beans and some other stuff. Cant remember exactly. I also threw some ground hog radish in there.... I hung two new sets as well. Just need to move two more stands and trim lanes for two others and we will be done. Found some good size yote tracks in a creek bed. I wear a size 11 shoe for comparison... -
Anything that could reasonably be stopped from increasing the rate of spread. Killing off every wild deer isnt reasonable. Stopping people from shipping the disease to new areas with deer pee and farm animals, is completely reasonable.
-
The difference is the food plots are there for a long time, and provide longer term quality food, unlike a bait pile which may or may not get replenished regularly.
-
Theres nothing illegal about being in the woods with your rifle after dark. It is illegal to shoot a deer after legal shooting hours, if you havent done that you have nothing to worry about.
-
The thread isnt even talking about NY. Its talking about baiting where its legal.
-
I couldnt tell you. The only state I can find that has banned it is Alaska. Most likely bad info/politicians have to do with it, but I have read info that says it can be spread through urine. Like I said, if it can be spread through urine, then it should be banned from use.

My thought is its fine unless they prove otherwise

Then that answers why I said what I did about transportation of semen vs deer. Has nothing to do with your favorite analogy.

Does semen carry prions?

How many pounds does your crossbow draw?
WNYBuckHunter replied to Lawdwaz's topic in CrossBow Hunting
Im pretty sure most crossbows are marked with draw weight. Or they can just google them from their cell phone. -
I quoted it so it was known who I was talking to. I was laughing at the "deer piss challenge" notion, mostly because I am sick of the friggin ice bucket challenge. I dont have anything personal against you up until the point where you start handing out the personal shots. We can disagree on the QDMA and CWD things all day long, and theres no issue with that IMO.

Funny how every other group is lying besides the one that has the biggest monetary interest...........
-
Wow, personal shot at me and I didnt even make the comment, just laughed at it. Keep it classy...

First off, your industry should be footing the bill. Second, heres to your "never been a CWD death on a deer farm" claim... http://www.lehighvalleylive.com/northampton-county/index.ssf/2014/04/chronic_wasting_disease_leads.html Go back and read what I said about high fence and why Im against it. Try again...

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Thanks for the injection of humor!

Happy Birthday Eddie!

Come on FSW, Just because some of us dont agree with high fence hunting, doesnt mean we dont think certain types of deer farming has its place. Scents, meat, etc etc is just fine by me. What gets my goat is when they are producing genetic freaks that are shot behid a fence, in a small enclosure, and they want it to be legitimate in some way. The CWD thing is a little different, though it is connected with deer farming and high fence hunting. Particularly the open transportation of animals between farms all over the place, many of which have been found with CWD present. Its a problem. CWD is being spread more rapidly because of the movement of infected farm animals. You want to sell tubes of deer sperm, by all means, but stop moving the damn animals around. Alot of that movement is because of (suprise suprise), high fence hunting, not meat or scent prioduction. I am open to all of the info on CWD you can feed me. Its something I am interested in learning about, and I like to get info from all angles so I can sort through the nonsense.

trail cams... which ones?
WNYBuckHunter replied to LET EM GROW's topic in Trail Camera Reviews and Info
Ive had Wildview, Wildgame Innovations, Moultrie, Coverts, and Stealth. My Moultries were pretty darn good, but my Coverts are great. Best bang for the buck out there IMO. The other three I wouldnt buy with your money. -
For the others that might want to take a look at his blog... http://betaamyloidcjd.blogspot.com/2010/04/new-connection-between-alzheimers-and.html

Terry Singletary — A retired machinist and high school dropout, Terry Singletary suffered the tragic loss of his mother to “sporadic” Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) in 1997. Desperate to find an explanation for his mother’s death, he has devoted himself to the sad and fruitless task of connecting her death to her diet. Various reports confirm that Mrs. Singletary’s life was claimed by the most common sub-type of CJD (one that accounts for 70 percent of “sporadic” cases). Sporadic CJD, unlike its newer “variant,” is not linked to meat. As the self-appointed international coordinator of CJD Watch, an organization he co-founded with social worker Deborah Oney, Singletary is cited in media reports as an apparent expert on tracking mad cow disease. This despite his lack of formal education and the absence for support from any credible academic, medical or scientific authority. His sensationalist allegations about the safety of U.S. beef have found their way into hundreds of newspapers and broadcasts. Singletary moderates a mad-cow discussion forum run by a vegetarian activist group; his contributions account for more than half the traffic on the “BSE-L” mailing list, which is generally read by real scientists. Animal rights activists and other food-scare artists frequently refer to him as “Dr. Terry Singletary,” apparently an honorary degree as he has yet to finish high school. Like many activists, Singletary ignores overwhelming epidemiological and laboratory evidence that rules out a connection between sporadic CJD and beef. Relying entirely on shallow circumstantial evidence and frequent repetition of claims which have been publicly refuted as false, he also blindly insists upon a mad-cow with Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and Lou Gehrig’s disease. His specific allegations have been clearly refuted by Centers for Disease Countrol and Prevention scientists in the journal Neurology. That guy? Ill do some reading, but at first skim through, his blog is full of PETA back patting and all kinds of things that raise my eyebrow.
