  1. And just like that, I’m in a blind. He’s still in the plot. If he heads for the pines and thick cover, he should come right through here.
  2. And just when I post That, pics of a shooter in the plot come through.
  3. Woke up to no power this morning. Got the generator going and plugged in the essentials. Power came back about an hour later. Looked through cameras, no movement since last night around 11 pm. I think I’ll be sitting this one out today. Gonna shoot the crossbow a bit and put the compound away today. I’ll see how things look for the evening sit, but I think That’s a wrap for the vertical bow for this year.
  4. Just had about 15 turkeys come in to less than 20 about 25 mins ago. Could have taken any of them. All hens though.
  5. This morning I was Out for a while, saw plenty of deer, just no shooters. The rain cleared up a bit so I’m back out again, this time in a ground blind in the woods above the plots where the camera nearby has shown good evening action with a couple of the big boys. Figured I’d try a couple of scent wicks, as there’s been some good cruising and chasing going on here lately.
  6. Today is day 1 of my huntcation time this year. From now till early December, I’m only working 10 days. Had to take my son to school so I’m a little late getting in. Cameras have been showing a ton of mid day activity, with bucks cruising and pushing does each day. I have had a few bruisers popping up during daylight for the last few days. Hopefully one of them steps into range.
  7. Probably had nothing to do with sighting in his rifle. Looks like it was a long range shot, rounds hit high, so he wasnt doing his part with the correct hold over. Ive shot deer at longer range (250+) and had the other ones near them just look around. Deer dont know what gun shots are. When I used to shoot alot of skeet and clays, we would have deer wandering around while we were shooting, sometimes at 100 yards or less.
  8. Nothing for me today. Heading back to the house. That’s a wrap for me until I start my vacation Wednesday the 30th. Off to Nashville late this week and next weekend.
  9. No ag here other than a hay lot about 1/2 mile away. He did just cut it and baled most of it. Nearest corn or beans is 2+ miles away.
  10. I’ve been out this afternoon and have seen nothing. I dont know what happened around here, but my cams have been dead since Friday afternoon. No does, fawns, nothing. It’s like a light switch, I went from a ton of activity to nothing at all. Not even at night. Strange.
  11. My cameras have been going nuts since yesterday afternoon. I have pics from one of my cell cams of both of my target bucks hanging in my clover plot for over an hour this morning, less than 40 yards from one of my stands.
  12. My cams take over 100 pics a week, sometimes in a day or two. Like I said, I have both. The Spypoint costs me quite a bit more to run and the pic quality and setting options arent even close. I have a Go Cam that’s over a year old, and has been running the entire time. Battery life is insane. A year on a set of lithiums. Can’t say that for my Spypoint. It’s on its third set in the same amount of time with less pics. I also Have a Ghost that has been great for the couple of months it’s been running so far. Burned by Spartan? That’s something I have never heard of. How did you get burned? Didn’t you say in this thread that you were “jumping into the cell cam world”? That makes it sound like the SpyPoint is your first one.
  13. I have A SpyPoint cell cam. They are inexpensive but the service isn’t cheap. Buying a Spartan would save you in the long run. I have 2 of those. Great cams. Light years better than my SpyPoint.
  14. Ive seen some sparring, mostly with young bucks so far. Also, young bucks bumping does around here and there. Most does Im getting pics of have their fawns with them still. Rubs and scrapes are ramping up. 8N
  15. Young bucks are bumping does around right now in my area. Mature bucks arent doing that yet. I grunted at a mature buck Saturday, trying to get him to come to me, he turned and looked, but then just walked away. Snort Wheeze had no effect. I dont think its time quite yet.
  16. I dont mess with them either. It just educates them if they bust you playing around.
  17. Looks like the chilly temps this afternoon had this young buck feeling frisky. The doe, not so much haha.
  18. The only thing about this rifle that I could Take or leave is that it is extremely loud. Not surprising though with the short barrel. Smooth shooter though.
  19. This morning I figured I would Stay out of the woods to keep the pressure down at my place, so I spent A bit sighting in my 6.5 Grendel. It did pretty damn good and after dialing it in a bit, I put Some real nice 2 and 3 shot groups in there. I. The pic, the blue circles are benched 2 shot groups and the red and purple are rested off of a deck railing. The last shot that the blue arrow is pointing to was after the final scope adjustment on the bench. These are 100 yard groups with 123gr Hornady SST loads. Should be plenty good for deer season.
  20. She took 10 mins to walk the final 25 feet into the plot. Crazy.
