I have one that I have used for my daughter and I to go hunting together. Now that she can do treestands, I havent used it yet this year. One of the reasons I havent used it is because theres no orange on it, I am going to get one of the blaze roof caps for it over the off season and start using it again next year. They are great as long as they have been there for at least a couple of weeks before you hunt out of it, and you brush it in some.

Once I have the details worked out, it will be open to everyone on the site. Im waiting for replies back to emails to a bunch of places looking for group rates and available dates.

Heard some grunting and movement a few mins ago. Got turned and binos up in time to see the big 8 skirt the bedding area in some thick thick brush. Tried a grunt, no luck. Hopefully he comes back through.

This sapling was amazing, it jumped right in the way and caught the bullet mid air.

Finally in my stand. Just wiffed an a doe trying to sneak out. Stupid sapling.

Im getting ready to get in the shower then head out. Gonna take the climber and see if I cant bust ol Hayrake lookin for does near the bedding areas. Looked outside and noticed the weatherman was wrong again. I was really looking forward to a couple of inches of fresh snow on the ground this morning...

I came up with this way of making baby food using venison steaks and left over steamed veggies, etc. Basically, you take a pound of venison steaks and throw them in the crock pot along with 2 or 3 cups of water. Let them cook in the crock pot until they are done all the way through. Take steaks and put them in the fridge to cool completely, throw out liquid (will make the baby food too strong in taste). Once steaks have cooled, cut into smaller pieces and put into food processor. Chop in food processor until you get a grey, almost powdery consistency. Separate into 3 or 4 portions (or how many kinds of food you want to make). Put venison and fresh veggies or fruit into food processor along with small amounts of water at a time until it becomes the right consistency. If you add too much water and the mixture gets too thin, just add some rice or oatmeal baby cereal to thicken it up. So far I have made venison with corn, peas and apples, and my son loves them all but the apples is his favorite so far. Next time Im going to try sweet potatoes and carrots.

Fresh rubs and scrapes all over the farm here right now. 7J hit the nail on the head, and I am thinking that the warm weather during the main rut kept alot of the does from being bred. If this cold weather holds up, the next week or so should be fantastic. I had the biggest shooter of the year in front of me today, stupid property line kept me from pulling the trigger. Saw a few doe this evening as well, just couldnt get a shot. More action today than in the last 2 1/2 weeks.

LMAO Pat, why doesnt it surprise me that your checking out porn in your stand!

Well, just before it was time to pack it in, I had 2 nice does feeding 60 yards out. Couldnt get a shot at them. Back at it tomorrow...

First deer of the afternoon is feeding toward me. Buck fawn, he gets a walking pass...

I still have time Elmer. The rest of the guys that hunt the farm are pretty much done so the pressure has gone way down. Hopefully I see him again and on the right patch of dirt. For now im at my honey hole, the stand I missed a monster out of last year on the last weekend of gun. Hoping to see a nice fat doe....

Sorry to hear about the miss Joe, keep at it!

So you DO have a variable power scope! HA!
-
Yeah man, that was gut wrenching to do. Hayrake is the buck in my avatar. Hes a brute, and one of the biggest deer Ive been in range of.
-
Oh, and I found out that the big drop tine I named Picklefork was taken about a mile away.
-
Just came in the house for some eats. I had the buck I named Hayrake in my crosshairs at 80 yards this morning. I could not shoot, as he was about 40 yards over the line onto a farm I dont have permission for. I thought long and hard before I let him walk off. Tried grunting to him but he wasnt interested. Im bummed, but will be back in the area I followed his tracks through tomorrow morning. Gonna head up to my fathers land for the evening sit.
