  1. Ive got the typical Rochester accent (over-pronounced R, etc) mixed with a little of my leftover southern accent from my Ohio (Kentucky border) and Florida days. You guys should have heard me when I first moved back to NY, I sounded like a life long Kentucky boy lol. Used to get made fun of constantly about it.
  2. BTW Elmer, you may have to run rkill and Malwarebytes in safe mode
  3. Elmer, do a search on another PC for a program called rkill.exe and download it to a thumb drive. Once you have it on the thumb drive, pop that in your notebook and save it to the desktop. Run that and it will kill any running malware services and processes. Once you do that, update and run Malwarebytes to remove the stuff. Then go through the list I posted and that should clean it up and get you back up to snuff. Man, you guys are making me give away my super special trade secrets lol
  4. Im just learning the ropes myself. This is my 3rd or 4th year of really going after them. Ive had mixed success. Baiting isnt usually a quick thing, youll want to use something along the lines of a roadkill deer sitting in a spot for a few days usually does good. I use rechargeable LED spotlights (ill get you the name of them later) and e-callers at night and add a decoy during daylight or dawn/dusk hunts. Get good camo (snow camo for when theres snow on the ground) and stay as still as you can, but make sure to scan the area with your eyes constantly. Also play the wind, they will try to get downwind of you ASAP, and you will not beat their nose with any amount of scent reduction, though I use it anyway.
  5. 22 mag would be ok up close, but if you have a 243, Id just go with that. Great yote round. I shoot 223 because its cheap to shoot.
  6. Interesting. Again, update Java first, that is the worst one for malware security holes. Heres the process that works the best. 1 - uninstall all versions of Java (through add/remove programs) 2 - uninstall any versions of Adobe reader and flash player 3 - download and install Ccleaner from www.piriform.com 4 - once Ccleaner is installed, look at the right side of the window at the options and choose all options for the first 3 sections except the saved passwords if you want to keep them, then choose IIS log files and windows update temp files (Windows 7 users wont have the win update choice) in the bottom section. Click on the applications tab and check everything. 5 - click analyze, after it is done, click run cleaner, click ok 6 - next click on the registry button, then scan for issues. Click fix selected issues when its done, click no, then fix all, then close. 7 - repeat step 6 until it scans with no issues 8 - download, install, update Malwarebytes (www.malwarebytes.org) 9 - run a full scan of Malwarebytes and have it remove any detected issues 10 - if Malwarebytes removed anything, open Ccleaner and re run step 6 11 - reboot computer 12 - download and install newest version of Java from java.com 13 - download and install newest version of Adobe Reader and Adobe Flash Player from www.adobe.com 14 - check for and install any Windows updates that are available 15 - if you run Firefox or Chrome, make sure you have the latest version That process removes 99% of any spyware, plus it cleans out your temp files, old registry entries, etc and gets all of your security updates taken care of. If you do not have a good antivirus, stay away from AVG or any free product out there, you get what you pay for or dont pay for I should say. I always use and recommend Vipre antivirus (www.sunbeltsoftware.com) to my clients for their home PCs. It only costs $40 per year for antivirus and antispyware protection and its a very good program that doesnt hog resources. I even have it running on a couple of HP Netbooks, which are pretty weak in the processor and RAM categories. Norton does a good job, but is a complete memory hog. If you have access to the newer versions of Symantec Endpoint Protections(12.1 and up), go with that.
  7. 6 days and counting until I stop thinking about deer hunting for a few months and start getting after the predators! I am planning on hitting them up with the first night hunt next Wednesday after work. Hopefully I can put a couple more on the ground without losing them through the ice this year. Ive already had the 223 out and shooting a bit here and there.
  8. Are all of you that got it using Internet Explorer?
  9. Oh I know. I guess I came off as a little defensive. Should have used a smiley lol BTW, interested in another 870?
  10. Who said they would? For me its about getting a gun that I enjoy shooting, and I dont enjoy shooting my 870.
  11. Yep, $500 for the slug barrel. The 3 inch gun will also save me $200 on the gun.
  12. No kidding. The deer barrel alone for the Browning Im planning on buying is $500. Then I have to get a scope on top of that. Ok ,gotta stop thinking of it or Ill talk myself out of buying it....
  13. Well, I was just speaking about what I would need I guess lol. I like using a fully rifled barrel for deer. Im sure some companies still make those types of barrels. I see turkey specific guns with short barrels, rifle sights and screw in chokes all the time. When I get my new shotgun, I wont be going with the 30" barrel, I like the 28" barrels just fine.
  14. Yep. Bucks can sometimes run themselves to death during the rut as well. I believe its called exertion myopothy or something like that.
  15. Yep. My hands look like pin cushions from doing drives this year where we had to push through that stuff. Its brutal.
  16. If youre playing the wind, what does it matter anyway?
  17. Id like to see the 1 buck per year. I could care less about AR.
  18. Yep, I used to carry a small water bottle about 1/4 full of water and the butts would go in there.
  19. Both bucks are beauties, but couldnt be from this area, we dont have deer like that out this way.
  20. Yep, I always wear a hat minimum. Ill probably have my usual vest on as well.
  21. I might be interested in one of them, been wanting to try one for a few years now. Let me know what you are looking to get for it. I wont have the disposable cash till after Christmas though.
  22. I wonder how many times this is going to get posted on here claiming it was hit in some other town in NY. Im sure we will be seeing this pic for years to come lol.
  23. Theres a Pinned thread at the top of the Deer Hunting section with all of DSI's info
