  1. Insane buck! Here are some copies of the pics blowed up...
  2. Id beg to differ with that statement. I shot many deer with the Remington Copper Solids, and not many of them left a decent blood trail. Shot placement did not matter. The slugs failed to expand and left small entry and exit wounds with light blood trails right up to the deer, then a bunch of blood where they were laying. Before I started using them, I used Lightfields in a smooth bore, and had great blood trails. I am now using Hornady SSTs, and am looking forward to seeing how they do. In my experience, the copper solid sabots just dont expand very well.
  3. Good luck, glad to hear you are feeling better.
  4. Not true. We actually went over this last year. A member had a question about building a box blind on top of a trailer frame to make it easy to move. After a lengthy discussion, I emailed DEC about it and they replied back to me stating hunting from the trailer mounted blind is legal as long as the ATV, truck or other motorized vehicle is no longer attached to it. Heres a copy of the email... "Thank you for your email. In regards to your recent email, it is legal to hunt off the trailer you are constructing. However, it would be illegal if you kept the truck or ATV attached to it while hunting. I have copied the section of law that pertains to your question which you will find below. No firearm except a pistol or revolver shall be carried or possessed in or on a motor vehicle unless it is unloaded in both the chamber and the magazine, except that a loaded firearm which may be legally used for taking migratory game birds may be carried or possessed in a motorboat while being legally used in hunting migratory game birds, and no person except a law enforcement officer in the performance of his official duties shall, while in or on a motor vehicle, use a jacklight, spotlight or other artificial light upon lands inhabited by deer if he is in possession or is accompanied by a person who is in possession, at the time of such use, of a longbow, crossbow or a firearm of any kind except a pistol or revolver, unless such longbow is unstrung or such firearm is taken down or securely fastened in a case or locked in the trunk of the vehicle. For the purposes of this subdivision, motor vehicle shall mean every vehicle or other device operated by any power other than muscle power, and which shall include but not be limited to automobiles, trucks, motorcycles, tractors, trailers and motorboats, snowmobiles and snowtravelers, whether operated on or off public highways. Notwithstanding the provisions of this subdivision, the department may issue a permit to any person who is non-ambulatory, except with the use of a mechanized aid, to possess a loaded firearm in or on a motor vehicle as defined in this section, subject to such restrictions as the department may deem necessary in the interest of public safety, and for a fee of five dollars. Nothing in this section permits the possession of a pistol or a revolver contrary to the penal law. 5. When we were doing a drive a couple weeks ago, one of the guys walked up on a yearling doe, it laid there till he kicked it in the rump, then it ran about 50 yards and laid back down. It was 60+ degrees at the time. We figured it was because it was so warm out, she just didnt want to move at all.
  6. LOL, I never thought of that! I like to practice with my guns, and with the 870, I start seeing my groups go a bit high and left after the first couple of groups. Its not the gun, its me flinching. Had the same type of issue with my old over under, I would miss or just nick the clays. Went to a semi and the issue went away.
  7. Yep, your local PD should be able to take care of it. There are lots of guys out there that collect old ammo as well.
  8. The recoil thing has alot to do with why I want to get rid of my 870. Its accurate as heck, but I just dread shooting it more than 3 or 4 shots in a row.
  9. The only joke here is that you think we are dumb enough to believe it was your "little brother". Should I rehash the whole spotlighting thread again, because you sat there and acted like you didnt even know the person posting with the other screen name. Let me make this perfectly clear. You were banned because of the foul language you used in post after post as well as in PMs to me and other members of the site. Honestly, I thought you should have been re-banned immediately when you switched up IP addresses and created 2 new accounts (yes, we do know you now have 4 accounts), but burmjohn (you know, the owner of the site and person you started getting mouthy with on this thread) wanted to give you another chance. Now, here you are spouting blatant lies about what goes on with the forum. Shocking.
  10. Use the DEC map tool to find state lands, WMU boundaries, etc. http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/45415.html
  11. I havent been able to figure out what thread he is referring to either.
  12. It all depends on how much vacation I have. My family knows that I try to spend as much time as I can in the woods, so they try to work around it as much as possible. This year, when I was on my longest stretch of vacation, I had 3 days that I was out all day out of 9 total days to hunt. It would have been more if the weather was better. This weekend I have 3 days to hunt, and will be in the woods for the entire day at least 2 of them.
  13. LOL, I dont usually sell things after such a short time, but the 870 just isnt what I want, and if Im going to be spending the kind of money I have on that one, I may as well put the extra money up to get what I really want. Once the Maxus goes in my safe, I wont be selling it. Im not sure I am going to sell the Daly. If I do decide to get rid of it, Ill give you first crack at it.
  14. Good deal. Hopefully they catch the idiots.
  15. Left handed models are basically just guns where the ejection is out the opposite side of the receiver so the guy isnt having empty shells fly across their face.
  16. They havent released the 2012s yet. The guy at BPS told me that the reps had hinted around at a LH model and some other new options for next year.
  17. Ill be giving this recipe a try! Sounds great!
  18. While its your choice to shoot big bucks, its also everyone's choice to shoot whatever legal deer they want to. The trophy is in the eyes of the hunter, and it doesnt really matter what anyone else's opinion about it is. My opinion is unless the deer was taken illegally, stop bashing other hunters for what they shoot. The true embarrassment to other hunters is some guy that diminishes what his fellow hunter legally shot.
