  1. Yes, percentage of NY hunters that take 2 bucks.
  2. Great slick WNY! Shes a big old gal.
  3. Thats where I buy most of my stuff, they have great prices and the rewards program rocks! If I cant find it there, I head to a local gun shop or get it on the net.
  4. Thanks Dave. Merry Christmas to you as well.
  5. Thanks guys. We had a small buck come up the gully to 25 yards behind us. He spotted me when I turned my head. It was a great little sit with the kiddo.
  6. Back in the stand for one last father daughter hunt this season...
  7. I believe the DEC has posted it somewhere. I remember reading it before, but dont remember where.
  8. He should have kept the windows closed
  9. Sorry to hear you didnt tag anything this year. Ill be done after tomorrow night, then Im taking a couple of days off of hunting before hitting up the coyotes, plus goose opens again after Christmas, then shed season is coming up. I guess I dont really take much of a break from it lol.
  10. You mean Zweigles? MMMMM. Gotta have some pop with my plate! You can keep the Genny, yuck!
  11. They dont even tell you exactly what the main charge is. They said 1 is improper affixation of a tag and another of spoilage of meat tissue or skin. Sounds like it could be stuff that the guide messed up on. Before I start with the judgements and name calling, Id like to hear all the facts first. Most of us on this web site that have hunted in NY for 10+ years and live here to boot, dont know all of the laws and regs in NY and have to ask from time to time. How can you expect someone going on a trip somewhere to know them all, thats part of what you pay the guide for.
  12. Youre Welcome! BTW, I got knocked with the spyware on here too, luckily my antivirus/antispyware caught it. Its coming from an ad.
  13. I didnt ask specifically what they feed them, but they said it was a mix of corn, oats, alfalfa and SUPPLIMENTS. Please, show me a 2 year old wild buck that looks like the one I pictured. Stress has alot to do with antler growth and overall health of any animal. Im not saying genetics doesnt play a part in it, but there are a hell of alot more factors than just that and age. Put one of your deer with great genetics in a wild environment with predators, droughts, flooding, and all of the other stresses that go along with it and see what kind of antlers it grows. It would probably look like most of the other big deer you see in NY. You seem to forget that I hunt land thats in an area with some of the best farm land in the state. We have more corn, beans, alfalfa, wheat, oats and other crops than you can shake a stick at growing in the area. Plenty of water all year round and lots of swamps and thick brush for them to hide out in, good genetics (look at my trail cam pics) and you will still NEVER see a 2 year old that looks anything like a farm raised 2 year old. Why? Not food, not water, not bad genetics. Hmmmmm... I know you raise deer, but you are leaving way too many parts of the equation out of the equation. Its like saying everyone with the bloodlines of Arnold Schwarzenegger is going to look like him with just the right food. BTW, I would absolutely love to be in a position like yours and work with deer every day.
  14. How many guys in your camp and how many did you take? If you guys are listing deer taken by other people, please indicate how many you have taken and how many they have taken.
  15. Congrats! Great round, I have an Encore in 260. Cant wait to get my handgun back out next year.
  16. We had a successful morning, had a wounded button come along so my buddy put him on the ground. He didnt need the meat so its hanging in my garage. Gonna make some good jerky. We are going back out a little later for the evening.
  17. In a stand at a freinds place. Its the same place I got my doe and missed a big buck during ml last year. Theyve been seeing the buck every day in here lately. Its very cold with light snow. Another great late season day.
  18. Didnt see anything else. Back home to go to a family lunch then off to my dads place for the evening sit.
  19. Just had a basket 8 stroll through about 40 yards behind me.
  20. Yep. Last time I got pooped on by a blackbird, I killed my buck in bow season.
  21. Sitting 30 yards downwind from the intersection of 2 heavilly used trails, right near the spot I got pics of the big 8. Perfect morning.... The dark brushy tree onthe right of the pic is the one in the center of this pic...
  22. Good genetics are all fine and good, but you are NOT going to have 2 1/2 year olds in the wild looking like the one I posted above. Like Culver said already, wild deer do not live in a low to no stress environment, they dont get anywhere near the diet that farm deer do (mineral supplements and other things). We have great genetics in the area I hunt, all the farm grown fresh foods the deer can eat, and 4 1/2 year olds start getting close to the 2 1/2 I posted above. Its not just about genetics and age, there are many other factors involved. Even wild deer in Iowa, Illinois and other "big buck" states dont compare to their farm raised counterparts.
  23. Im getting ready to head out to my stand now...
  24. I have a Moultrie I60, love the quality of pics. Battery life is ok with D cells, but I am going to get the external battery pack/solar panel so it wont be an issue. Trigger speed is good. Only complaint is the LCD screen died and getting ahold of Moultrie's tech support is like pulling teeth. I also have a WGI W6XDE. pic quality is ok, but trigger speed isnt as good as my Moultrie. Battery life is killer due to the external pack. I havent used it long enough to say whether I really like it or not though. I got the cam cheap and dont regret it.
  25. No. For whatever reason they didnt add it onto the tags as a weapon or choice yet. Probably because they are expecting it to change again after next season anyway, so why change it twice.
