  1. Getting ready to head out for the day. Im taking sandwiches and trying to make it an all-day'er.
  2. Mine eats just fine. Steaks, backstraps and all.
  3. Now thats what you call a freak! My uncle has a doe on his wall. 8 or 9 points if I remember correctly. He shot it on his land in Wayne county.
  4. Then you arent preparing it right my friend!
  5. Oh, and I have no interest in a 20 ga. Been there, done that.
  6. Im not really planning on getting rid of the Daly right now. I dont want a bolt action shotgun for a deer gun, my 870 is super accurate already, I just dont want the recoil, plus a bolt action isnt going to get it done on the skeet, trap or clays range.
  7. Sorry to hear that Elmo. She probably lived a full happy life though.
  8. I dont think they meant its worth $1million to shoot, its worth a million in sperm straws sent to breeders.
  9. How bout a fenced Mountain Lion hunt? And you can only use a knife 6 inches or less.
  10. Ill shoot them an email. I almost feel dirty emailing and calling about a fenced hunt lol. Almost... Joe, I would love to do that as well. I organized a "rally" on one of the camping sites I go to a couple of years ago, and it turned out pretty good. Had 10 or 15 families show up. Id love to do something like that with members here too, maybe a camping weekend somewhere that has cabins for those that dont have campers or tents. Or maybe a wild game dinner where people bring all different types of wild game dishes to pass. Hell, Id be fine with a group getting together and shooting some 3D. The subject of a hog hunt came up a little while ago and I thought it might be fun to get some people together from here to go on the hunt and maybe have a contest or something like that. Id like to do it at a place in NY, but its looking like the place in PA with the regular wild pigs is going to be the most affordable. We will see, Im going to try and have the details put together before the first of the year.
  11. Heartless? Not in the least Dave, its called responsibility. You know, the thing that so many people in this society have lost sight of. The people knew the fee was there and just plain didnt pay it. The article never once said what the financial position of the people was, so whos to say they were unable to pay a $75 per year bill in the first place? When I have a bill that I know needs to be paid, I do what I have to to pay it, I dont just say "Well Ill probably never need that, so screw it."
  12. To make sure noone got hurt and it didnt spread to homes owned by people that pay their bills.
  13. Thanks, their prices look a little steep though.
  14. Heres the question I posed to them... "I have a question regarding permanent or semi-permanent shooting houses and elevated blinds. If someone was to build one of these near their property line, would that in turn make it illegal for the neighbor to hunt within 500 feet of it without permission? Even if the neighbor was on their own land? Basically, does the 500 foot law apply to structures like these? Thank You, John"
  15. Sounds like a good email for me to send over to the DEC. Ill let you know what they say...
  16. But its an optional fee there, and you can choose not to pay it, which is what they did.
  17. It was in TN, and things are 100% completely different down there. You cannot compare this situation with the nanny state of NY.
  18. Yep, I have a few from last week. Im going to be putting my cam out again this weekend and letting it "soak" until next weekend.
  19. Elmer has it, but just to make sure, call and speak to the lawyer that handled your adjudication.
  20. I have a couple of 8Hs that I could give to someone that might need them this weekend. We need to fill DMAPs, so I wont need the DMPs.
  21. Good to see there is some interest. Ill be working more on it this weekend. Skillet is also looking around at places to do it. So far, the most affordable is also somewhere that they no longer have wild boar, they are basically farm pigs that have been let loose. Still would be more fun than buying pork at the store, but were looking for something a little better.
  22. Farm animals is all they are. Cool to look at and such IMO, but thats about it.
  23. Wooly, for me, its not about being uppity or thinking tough times couldnt happen to me. Ive been through tough times before and am sure that there are more to come. Its about responsibility on the home owner's part. $75 a year is not much at all, and if its a fee you have to pay, you figure it into your yearly/monthly bills. The article said that the people knew of the fee, but thought it would never happen to them. Thats irresponsible and it bit them in the ass.
  24. Even at 200 yards you should be able to tell the difference between a 600lb cow elk and a 100 to 150lb deer. Did you catch the part that said the shotgun was scoped in the bull incident? Wouldnt surprise me if the other on was too.
  25. BTW, most of the south is a totally different world from up here.Nothing is the same except the color of the grass and sky. There are still huge areas down there that dont have 911 service, or just recently got it. If youve lived down there, you know what I mean.
