  1. Smoked chicken legs. First time smoking anything this year and these were great.
  2. Couldn't even get mad at him because of how bad he wanted to play with the deer outside. I will never have to worry about the mailman or deer breaking in, that's for sure.
  3. Almost a five pound pork loin. Stuffed with good things, now I have extra for a week lol I'm bored!
  4. About eight different peppers, tomatoes, cabbage, lettuce, eggplant, basil, cilantro, melon (soon), parsnips, cucumbers, brussel sprouts, squash, potatoes, and corn. So far so good, I just bought a tiller that should arrive Tuesday. I have a deer problem so fencing will be key.
  5. Well said. Boy oh boy are there some small minded selfish comments these last few pages. Some people are so American they are very willing to throw there hands up and say I'm not infected, it's not my problem. This is bigger then politics boys. Really, we shouldn't help people because of what part of the state they live? Really? WOW
  6. Yup. By far the best way to cook red meat.
  7. Well I'm off. About 85% germination on eggplant, peppers, tomatoes, lettuce, sunflowers, cucumbers, and squash. Learning as I go, first thing is to drop my lights a little because they are a little "leggy". I picked the right year to pickup a detail oriented hobby.
  8. Sous vide backstraps @129 for two and a half hours. Finished in a scolding hot cast iron.
  9. I own a couple phone stores and the parent company mandated we have 11-6 hours. If we are found to be open beyond that our stores could be taken away. This is always my busiest time of year so I'm getting my ass kicked at the moment. The company will match February commissions which is pretty cool though. My employees are nervous going to work and customers are coming in wearing mask and gloves which freaks them out more. Life is such and I will adjust. At this point I'm just hoping everyone stays safe that I know. My wife who is a teacher is on paid vacation and already going stir crazy.
  10. So your going healthy tonight I see. Looks amazing.
  11. So my wife and I bought a house and we have about a third of an acre field that I plan on using for herbs, vegetables and sunflowers. I'm thinking of starting my eggplant, peppers and tomatoes on Sunday. In this area that will be about 8 weeks before last frost. Anybody do semi large garden from seeds? Any suggestions or things I should worry about? I'm a little intimidated to tear up the full field and now I'm thinking about running strips of plastic black mulch to increase soil temps and reduce weeds. Bad idea? Good idea? I don't pretend to be a pro even after doing well with raised beds so any input is welcome. Thanks as always
  12. Checked cameras a couple days ago that were left over a gut pile at my cabin. First time I've ever had eagles on a camera. Hope you all enjoy but I would love to see what anyone else has as far as eagles on trail cameras.

  14. I tried some grunts but it didn't work.
  15. Well you have to know the town to understand what was going on here. I lived there for the last eight years and love Montgomery. This has been a hot topic for a while with many anti medline signs all over town. Fact is that it's a upper middle class town that many including myself feel will change the whole structure of the area. The town won't benefit from the 1000 jobs the other surrounding towns will. Montgomery residents aren't hurting for work. Towns like Newburgh, Middletown and Maybrook will have the majority of residents that will be hired for these jobs. Stop by Copperfields on a Friday night and ask locals how they feel about this. As normal, this comes down to politics and a few people really pushing their narrative. I see know way in 10 years this doesn't change the blueprint of the town. I hope it's for the better but I doubt it.
  16. Man that looks good. How did you cook the pork belly? Please don't say Korean style.
  17. Off of Dolson Ave? I just went myself, he is a big hunter, a really fun guy to talk to. That balsamic is to die for.
  18. Weekends are hard for me but Im in depending on the date.
  19. I have had success planting brassicas about a month after I seed the soybeans. What also might work is if you seeded rye or wheat in the fall, you can top seed the soybeans and roll over the rye or wheat to create a thatch. It will kinda hide the beans and give them a head start on being eaten before your desired time. If you haven't done that I would suggest some red clover frost seeded and wait a little later then usual to plant your beans.
  20. No but they have all sorts of stuff (non venison) that you can buy.
  21. I second this. Even the bear I shot didn't go 20 yards.
