  1. I voted for Trump both times and consider myself to be a Right leaning moderate ; The President is too IMHO and, consequently, I agreed with him on much , if not everything issue wise ( except maybe his approach to COVID LOL) Unfortunately , his big ego sometimes gets in the way and impedes him more than it helps him. I like the President ALOT and thought in many ways , he did in an excellent job . However , I do understand why many were dissatisfied and even frustrated with him at times and, ultimately , did not vote for him . I watched Biden’s speech tonite and thought it was very good ; Very conciliatory , very impassioned , and , I was quite impressed . I get the feeling that he truly does want to Be a Uniter ; maybe he will do a good job . Let’s give him a chance !!
  2. Yup , I agree . I’ve had deer almost walk right over me when I was motionless but, turn your head ever so slightly , they’re gone!!
  3. Sight more than sound for me as I find them to be very quiet most of the time . Maybe it’s me , though , cuz when it’s dark , before shooting light , I only hear them lol
  4. Yup , not surprised ; I believe they had some 3R and 3S , but that was about it for region 3
  5. Just picked up 2 for 3M ; very limited what they have left
  6. Did the 300 and Muzzleloaders yesterday ;300 Yeah , it must have been ; same with the 300 , too. Initially, It was shooting so far To the right that I took it off the range and had them adjust it in the shop to save time - and ammo!! After that , only minor adjustments necessary to center it . Muzzle loader wasn’t too far off ; shooting a little low and left At first but dialed it in after 4 or 5 shots . I love shooting the muzzleloader , incidentally , lots of fun
  7. So , went to the range yesterday to sight in a few of my rifles ; what surprised me most was how far out of whack my 22 was !! Groupings were consistently high and left and took multiple shots and big adjustments ( ie , #of clicks on scope dial ) to center it . How do they get so out of whack over the years ? Conversely , my 30-30 was dead -on ! First shot pretty much dead center so I only shot once more - also a center shot - so, I left it alone . I’m thinking now though , that I should have squeezed off a few more just to ensure it was centered . What do you think ?
  8. I like hunting windy days, especially when trying a little still hunting As it Tends to mask Hunter noise.
  9. That’s right !! Forgot about this ; anyone know if this impacts your DMP draw chances for the following season though ?
  10. Wow, great pics!! What kind of cam you using? The resolution is awesome; lots of daytime pics too, so, looks like you got some chances!!
  11. Regionally, Im sure that is pretty much the case but, as you drift further south, peak rut time will be delayed
  12. Ok , sounds good ; so , roughly , how long does it take you to get it up to the tree?
  13. Does anyone know if it’s possible to hang a 15’ ladder stand solo? I know it’s tough to hang one even w 2 guys so is doing it alone feasible ? So hard to find someone to help and time grows short . I know I can drag everything In myself , no problem, but getting it aloft will be the challenge . I was thinking of tying a rope around the seat part and trying to throw it over a branch and use the tree itself as a fulcrum to pull it up a bit at a time . Doable? Thanks
  14. That couple looks like they’re on a leisurely hike to me ; no way they’re way back off nowhere near a trail . Maybe there’s a trail nearby that you missed ?
  15. Wow !! Terrible wound ; no fresh blood, it appears , so I would think he survived a coyote attack maybe ? Hit by a car and scraped along for a bit ?
  16. I don’t have a lot of confidence in my own ability to imitate a vocalization with the calls . I was thinking of using the downloaded apps from my phone ; I mean , what could be better than the real thing right lol
  17. Here’s a fee from my pull today ; looks like a 4 and 8 Pointer got into it ; not sure who won but I believe the 4 a pointer held his own cuz he was right back there lol
  18. Yeah , same here , only acorns I’m seeing are from Reds And not much to boot
  19. The past week , been scouting out some land for potential alternative spots for the upcoming season. Since it’s a pretty large tract, my strategy has been to pick a spot on the map and Walk it looking for sign ; this sign includes tracks , scat , rubs / scrapes or actual sightings , of course . If I see none of the above , then I move onto the next spot . Of course , that doesn’t necessarily mean there are no deer there as I’m sure there would at least be transients passing through . But , the way I see it , if it’s a productive Tract, you should be able to discern some fairly obvious sign without tremendous effort ; otherwise , chances of success are not good , at least in my book . What do you think ?
  20. Welcome, you still live in the city ? I’m in Suffern; if you’re lookin to hunt in Rockland/Orange lmk
  21. Wow, looks great, I'd be afraid though it makes it more conspicuous then when strapped onto the tree and more likely stolen
  22. Thanks for the heads up about the numbers increasing . I'm always very leery about hunting public land opening weekend; now, I'll be twice as leery lol
  23. Yes, very nice, reminds me of home!! Hows the deer density around where you hunt? Do you see deer much? I know alot of places in the 'Dacks you can go days without seeing one ; but, when you do, it can be a real Monster!!
