  1. All the time and I belong to a hunting club
  2. Yeah beautiful place, went there as a kid , would love to go back sometime
  3. I’m gonna go and move mine around this coming week, gotta replace the batteries and find some new spots deeper in , also put one up next to my close stand
  4. That Inreach Explorer thing sounds pretty good to me , will it work anywhere ?
  5. Not yet but I’m planning on goin out next week. I have to move a couple stands and trail cams and try to find at least one or two new spots for the fall
  6. This is a great thread , very informative , yeah that’s what I figured with the cotton balls and vaseline, do you know how effective it is? I think I would bring a bunch in a ziplock bag as a backup but maybe also bring one of those little fuel canisters as my primary fire starter
  7. I’m not that hard core but would like to get into some survival hikes and hunts requiring those skills: so what’s the vasaline and cotton balls for anyway?
  8. When you spend slot of time in the woods it’s bound to happen . I’ve been temporarily lost at most maybe a few hours but always have made it back . From those experiences , I’ve learned to become much more aware of my surroundings and pay attention to detail more effectively . Still not foolproof though. ALWAYS make a point to check your direction when. First entering the woods and plan which direction you need to get out . You’d be surprised at the guys that don’t do even that
  9. Shit that sucks , even if it’s been years , it’s a lot of work staying up a new one. Sorry that happened but part of hunting I guess
  10. Yup , I agree. It’s ok to be a liberal but it’s NOT ok to use your position as a public commentator to call for the harassment of someone engaged in a completely legal pastime just because you don’t agree with or support the pursuit of that pastime. I never liked this guy and I see that he hasn’t changed at all since he was fired by MSNBC. Shut up and do your sports commentating Keith and keep your politics to yourself!!
  11. Why Fatboy , did it say somewhere on the thread it’s only legal in certain areas or situations that I missed? Thanks
  12. Actually I just did some research and I found an old thread from this forum from 2011 where the guys were saying it is perfectly legal to establish and hunt over a public land foodplot .
  13. Yes , that sounds right Storm, I guess best way to find out is do some research and make a phone call to the regional office
  14. Ok thanks, I wonder about the 300 model that you hang next to your stand? It’s supposed to block your scent and give you that edge; since ozone is denser than air , I imagine you hang it high and let it drift down to you , any one ever use that model?
  15. Ok that’s a good price compared to those ones you take out into the field. Might be worth it to try one out
  16. Love squirrel hunting just don’t have the time to do everything I love , maybe this season I can squeeze in a hunt or 2
  17. Cool how much was the throw n go if you don’t mind and how does it work basically?
  18. Yes I agree , IF I did it, I would find a spot deep in to reduce the likelihood of that occurring although there would never be any guarantee that I would have it all to myself for sure
  19. Yes, you’re right, you can’t till it! Just an idea but probably would be too much work anyway , never hunted Stewart, may have to check it out
  20. Have you ever used those ozone control devices I’ve been reading about in the hunting mags? Are they worth it to purchase ? Considering getting one for next season to hang next to my stand and was looking for opinions / feedback. Thanks so much
  21. Hey guys, I have NEVER planted a food plot in my life, let alone hunted over one but I was thinking about planting one sometime. My question is: can you plant a food plot on state land? Thanks Northcountryman
  22. For squirrels, you really don’t need to go out too far and deep to have success I’ve found so even is it’s very cold out, an hour or two out can usually yield decent results. Having said that, anything under 5 below maybe I’d stay home
