  1. Hey Treeguy, how does a guy book a charter with you? (Kidding, sorta. I'm 7-8hrs away) Sure seems like you know your stuff.
  2. Nice to see the pics. Looking forward to the "after" pics. Looks like the tractor pulled those plows alright.
  3. It was finally our turn. 30% chance of isolated showers turned into a quick .75" and still sprinkling. It rained hard, but not "wash out" hard. It makes me feel lots better about the rest of the summer.
  4. Good for you Val. Sucks to have to deal with buying all new gear, but glad to hear you are still at it. Fish on!!!
  5. Still nothing here. 60-70% chance later tonight. I have heard that before... Starting to regret planting this week. Meanwhile there is a flash flood watch in Southern Vermont.
  6. It's true. He's like Gary Sanchez. Batting .188 for the year, but when he does connect he does damage!
  7. I would say it was fallow, except of the oats. We had a corn field that failed because it was heavy clay and too wet. We plowed it under and spread manure and spoiled haylage on it. Some of the haylage was from the previous year's new stock and had oats in it. The oats sprouted and you could see exactly where I went with the manure spreader. The field actually looked alot like these pictures. I'm not saying that's what happened here. I'm just puzzled by the oats. It looks like a fallow field, but by definition it isn't fallow if they planted oats.
  8. 85 and humid yesterday, but I got the bow out and shot a little. I will try to shoot every day from now on. So I guess the countdown is on.
  9. 4 runs over 5 innings isn't so bad for a spot starter. He wouldn't even be in the rotation if Sale, Erod and Wright weren't all on the DL. They didn't even have to trade 3 prospects for him!
  10. If that's your prescription, then I want whatever is ailing you!
  11. I'm planning on planting a new plot in the morning. Chance of rain tomorrow afternoon and night. Then again later in the week. Unloaded hay with a buddy last week. He was closing in on 20,000 bales. Same time last year he was around 1,500. One extreme to the other. . .
  12. There's no way that is wheat planted as a crop. I would bet it's a nurse crop for a mixture of grasses and legumes for hay.
  13. Could be a field they planted back into hay that partially failed because of the dry weather. Certainly weedy, but it may come into it if it's mowed off.
  14. x2. I like the stock itself, and realize all the adjustments are for function, but I think they ruin the look.
  15. If it were me, I would just mow some trails in the old hay field. The deer would use the trails and eat the new growth. The "easiest" way would be to use a brushhog, but you could get by with a weedwhacker. I know a guy who did this and got tons of pics of deer eating clover that grew in the trails. Good luck!
  16. I'm on the wrong side of the lake... We are supposed to get the better part of an inch of rain after lunch though.
  17. The entry on my biggest buck was very big. I did double lung him, but blood trail was impressive.
  18. I was on vacation when you posted this. I have shot Jak-Hammers for 15 years or so. They fly like field points. They are rugged. They are sharp. I haven't found any reason to switch. I shot a buck that was quartering away and shattered the far shoulder into little pieces. I shot a buck that was slowly walking past. The broadhead hit the far leg, broke it and I still got a pass through. I'm sold on them.
  19. I think we've gotten .35" so far, and that seems like quite a bit. Hot today, but more thunder showers and heavy rain forecasted for the rest of the week. My garden looks a little less sad. I would like to see a couple inches of rainfall, but we will get what we get.
  20. I spent many summers tedding and raking hay on a MF 165. My brother still has 3 or 4 of them on the farm. They were simple to operate and stood the test of time. One of my favorite 2 wheel drive tractors. Congrats on your new tractor. It should be big enough for all kinds of work and a real labor saver.
  21. Look into "bush" varieties. They don't vine like that, so they take up less room. I plant vine type squash in my "pumpkin patch", and bush style squash in my raised beds.
  22. Used to eat frog's legs as a kid. Grilled them over a wood fire. They taste like chicken!
