Browning Strikeforce and Tactacam Reveal - not bad
mowin replied to moog5050's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
My two tactacam's have been flawless. I have mine on instant or timely (don't remember what it's called) to avoid the 2nd only pic. The time between taking the pic and me receiving it is typically less than 30 seconds. My stealth cam fusion has had issues, but it's working now. However it takes at least two minutes to a pic to upload and send, missing any deer that walk by during that time, so I have that to send all pics hourly. -
Very nice. I had one for a few yrs. Was a fun rifle and dam accurate.

Well, this snow absolutely sucks. Took me 30min to get to my spot that would normally take 10. Had two bucks I normally would have shot about 100 yrds out. No way in hell was I about to shoot. I wouldn't have been enjoyable getting him out. -
Ford f350 with a 9.6 Fisher XV2. Light fluffy snow was relatively easy pushing. V made it easy to bust through the town's berm.

Just got done plowing. Started at 4:30 this morning. 23" at the house. 37" at one of my clients only 8 miles away.

Standard Transmissions...How many can operate one ??
mowin replied to Pygmy's topic in General Chit Chat
Yrs ago when I used to ride dirt bikes, there was a guy with one arm that would ride with us. Never stalled the thing and could outride most of us. Was always amazed at how well he could ride. -
I'm in northern Columbia co. near the Mass border. Radar shows it's getting close. Probably see the first flakes soon. Being so close to the Berkshires can greatly effect the totals.
-
Hasn't started here yet. We're in the 16-20 range with high probability of 2' or more. Clients have been calling asking me to wait until storm is over to plow. Told them all it will be a multiple push storm if we get that much.

Can't buy a new 2500, 3500/250,350 with a manual transmission anymore. -

My nephew can drive a standard, but when he was looking for a tri-axle dump, the thought of learning double clutching and shifting didn't appeal to him so he bought a auto. -
I wanted to get out badly, but just couldn't make it. Around 4:00, I drove past my hunting spots on the way home, and the deer were out in force. One field had 13, couple others had 8. Many deer out in other fields I don't hunt.

Took my driver's test in a gremlin with 3 on the tree. Drove truck in the '90's. No autos then. Every vehicle I've owned was a standard until 2007. Haven't driven one in yrs, but I could hop in anything from a VW bug to a Freightliner with a Eaton/fuller, and not have any issues. -
Buddy showed me a video the other day where a fox was chasing a Fisher. Fisher looked like it was toying with the fox. Video was almost 10 minutes long. He said it was posted on a CNY hunting FB page.

I was looking at the same tire. My buddy loves his. Couldn't find any in my size, so I went with Goodyear duratrac. Still not looking forward to this white snot. At least it will be dry power and not a heavy wet mess.
-
Yep, me too. Would have been happy with zero snow this winter.
-
No. Do not crush them. It's important to get the bullet on top of the charge without crushing the pellets, and without any space between the pellets and bullet.
-
Absolutely, you can use the ML for all 3
-
You never know. Bitter cold a snow makes the deer move frequently. I usually see more deer during Late ML in the fields then during reg season. Good luck.
-
Nice kitty. What's a bobcat that size fetch?
-
Not entirely correct. You can take both bucks during the SZ late season.. Assuming you didn't fill any tags during archery or rifle.. Your reg season tag becomes a either/or tag during the SZ late season. You can fill it during the late season with a buck or a doe, and take another buck or a doe with your either/or bow muzzle tag.
-
You can shoot 3 deer. You can use a ML, crossbow, or vertical bow. Out of those three, only 2 can be bucks. (Reg season, and bow/ml either sex tags).

Our provider told me to run 1/4 mile of FO, which is all above ground, to everyone's pole is going to cost them almost $100 grand. If from the pole to the house is above ground, it would be free. If underground, first 300' is free and then $4.00 a foot after. I'm lucky, I'm 500' but all above ground. Several houses are well over the 300'.
-
Going through the same thing now. Fiber optic is 1/4 mile from my house. Neighbor started a list of those in our area who would like to see FO extended. Company said they will do it if 22 homes sign up for a 3 yr contract at $120 + fees a month. Those only a 1/4 mile from me are paying $69 + fees.

My nephew can't seem to see a buck. I hunt the same area the next day and see bucks, lol. The other day a 8pt poised in front of the camera 15 minutes after he left his stand. Seen a decent 5pt this afternoon that had been shot above the spine. Appeared to be healing up nicely, as he was pestering some does.
