  1. If I remember I'm going to my parents today and my mom has pictures of my grandpa from 1948 with a big chenago county buck off the old family farm. I'll try to take pictures of them to post
  2. What do you use on to hold your bow? I hunt mainly public land so I cant screw anything into the trees. Thinking of getting the third hand tree stand bow rest. Any other ideas or input on this one?
  3. Have you looked into a longer d loop to make up the difference? I was watching a pro 3d shoot last year and they showed tim gillinghams setup and since he has a massive draw length he uses an extra long d loop to make up the difference.
  4. Hatfield single shot shotgun. I know they are cheap but has to be the worse single shot I've ever had.
  5. It comes with sight tape I dont use it. The lines just end up being at 10yard increments. Took time to trust it but I shot out to 100 a couple times last year and it was accurate enough for me. I will say it is bulky I dont know if they have lighter single pin version but the model I have is heavy.
  6. That's why I like that single pin react sight from trophy ridge. Shoot at 20 and 30 it presets out to 100.
  7. I'm sure they are. How much I couldn't tell you. Im running them as short as I safely can to reduce as much weight. At 22 yards they are flying the same but I'm sure when I start to stretch it out I'll see the difference. I'm lucky I have a big enough spot at my place to shoot out to 70yards if I want. I will be going to mayhoods in the next couple weeks just to get some reps in. Its $5 or $6 for an hour worth of shooting. They have an indoor range out to 20yrds. Just gets crowded because it seems to turn into a catch all area. Good enough for me though.
  8. 22 yards with some of my new aluminum arrows. Bought a dozen for a little extra diameter on the 3d course this summer. They shot just like my carbons. This spring I'll stretch it out to 50-60 just to see the drop difference. I bought a different lighter single pin for hunting and using my react one for 3d and indoor. Just going to switch them up depending on when I'm doing what until season starts.
  9. If saranac lake is having their winter carnival I would suggest going. I lived up that way for 2 years and always loved the carnival. Ice castle is always fun especially for the kids. Granted this year may be different. They are small towns but there is always something fun to do. Have fun we are hoping to go up this summer.
  10. We watch it. The funny part is my wife can be in a middle of a task and cant help but sit down and watch them chase critters.
  11. I started last year and after one year with really cheap stuff it was easier then my climber. 1 trip up the tree just had a ton of weight with last years equipment that's why I upgraded. Depending on setup will depend on how easy it is to pack in and out. I chose these sticks even though they arent the lightest but they lock together and with attachment blocks I can attach to the tree and not have to strap them down. I bought the after market steps to put on the top of each stick because it is much easier having your feet at am even point while attaching next step or stand. Biggest thing is get a lineman rope and attachment to your harness. Just need to practice but I could get up a tree very quick and into anything I needed to. I'll keep posting updates as I work through it. I have 3 buddies that are waiting to see how it turns out so I can make them setups also.
  12. Stand, sticks, brackets and my parts to modify it are in(steps and aiders). I'll post pictures when I start to modify sticks and stand. Only thing I need to order is the bow hanger I'm attaching to stand, stealth strips and if I go with a rope mod.
  13. Pine trees, trees with multiple leaders,1st time sits let's you get away with alot also.
  14. Ide love the Bill's to win but I've watched the last 5 mins of the game Bill's defense is looking like a college team against them.
  15. Thanks for the input. I'm just going to schedule like I normally do and if get a good pattern on one leading into the season I'll just take a day. I always take the first day off anyways just because.
  16. Looking to start scheduling some of my vacation time. I've been doing a ton of research on early season seems like the first 4 day can be the best time to tag a big buck besides the rut. I like the idea of the woods being pretty empty since most people hold off towards the rut for vacation. I think you would need to have a good pattern on one for it to work. What are your thoughts?
  17. Yea I emailed them and discussed my plan and he said that it would all work I just needed different length 5/16th grade 8 bolts.
  18. Well made the purchase. XOP Vanish Evolution, 4 XOP mini sticks with stick brackets. Total was 300 since sticks are on sale. One issue I had with these sticks was that single step so i did some research and found the solution. Went to Eastern Woods Outdoors and they have aftermarket double steps for $11. So I bought 6(2 extras) , and 2 of their 18inch steel cable aiders for 11 dollars each. If you are customizing sticks this would be the website to look up. Everything should be here in a couple weeks cant wait to put it together. Last purchase will be getting 8mm static rope to convert to a rope mod to make setup even lighter.
  19. I'm hoping the Bill's win if they play the chiefs or browns. I'm with biz if you want to get past the chiefs 10pts from the offense isn't going to do it.
  20. Pay off my debt and my close family. Buy a big chunk of land and put a dream house in the middle of it/hobby farm Donate a bunch to our school's music program so it doesn't get cut Buy a place on the beach in north myrtle Make sure my family generations to come are set Oh yea retire at 33 with a hobby farm to keep me busy
  21. Sorry for your loss moog. If you need anything dont hesitate to ask.
  22. Just stopped into Mayhoods in Norwich and picked up some more 20gauge shells. They had a decent amount of ammo all more odd ball. 280, 6.5(I believe) might be worth a call if you have any odd ball calibers. Phone is 334-2001
  23. I get maybe paying for a deer lease but for small game I would just hunt some stateland and save my money. Especially once deer season ends you'll have thousand of acres to yourself.
