Swamp_bucks

Couple more weeks that 10-2 will be a great time to be in the woods. Always see more bucks then. My dad always loved that time of the day as well. He would leave the woods at 9 to get food to make sure he was back for that time frame.

Hunt 7p at all yet this year?

What side of a weather front has given you the best results for hunting? I tend to like the before side a little bit more. Seem to have pretty decent action in the areas I hunt when a system is moving in. I do think it depends a lot on when the temps drop in correlation to a storm. how about yourself?

It’s open river ground so not hard to see them driving. There’s 2 bucks I see in the same field every night both are about 100” 8 pts.

Nope but I’ve only seen a handful of bucks that size to know how big they were. Also drive through a bunch of really good ag ground on my way to work. Also have an hr drive so it’s not all close together.

Big boys were on their feet tonight. Saw 3 120 or better bucks on my way to work and one easily 140class. Not to mention a bunch of other really decent bucks. One almost got a ride with me if he went any further into the road.

Oldest daughter was 8 or 9, youngest daughter was 7 and not since, son will be another year or 2.

Beech or soft maple next to a hemlock. Always easier to climb and get my sticks set solid and usually guaranteed to have great cover.

Just take a cinch strap and takes some hooks off old ratchet straps until that muddy one comes in.

Daughters team just finished regular season of Volleyball tonight. They’ve only lossed one game all year. Think they went 8-1 and only lost 5 sets all year. So going into next weeks division tournament they are seeded #2. top 2 teams advance to the sectional tournament the following week. They have a great team and have a chance to make a run if they can get in. I’ll try to keep this updated as long as they keep winning.

Nothing today won’t be back out until the end of the month.

Slow morning so far. Sitting a ridge between bedding and agg. Only thing to come through so far is a big fat gray squirrel. only sitting until 930 then dropping gear at the car and still hunting over to my camera to replace batteries

Heading out shortly. Change of plans this morning. Going to same piece I planned just a different spot on it.

Going in the morning to my gun spot. Tactacam needs new batteries and the food plot on the private that borders was packed full of deer tonight. they logged all the way around it on the private and has always been a good bedding area. Usually don’t take a doe in this spot but if a good shot is there I will probably take it. It’ll be my last sit until October 27th then I’m off for a month.

That’s tough I would say a chickadee. Love listening and watching them in the trees. Deer wise it’s hard to beat a rutted up buck trotting and grunting every step of the way.

I’ve been running huntstand for a long time now. Love how easy it is to use and the images are great.

Keep your eyes open for crows and vultures hovering in a spot that’s uncommon. Won’t take long for them to find it if he is dead.

Just heard someone else’s kid I know shot a nice buck today. So that’s 2 youth hunters I know that got one.

Just got the word my nephew rebounded after his miss yesterday and dropped a doe this afternoon for his first deer.

Good luck to those out. Wanted to go this morning but my son was up most of the night so I slept in since we were up until 2am.

Scouted my way into a swamp I’ve been eyeing and the bucks haven’t moved in. Sign is 2 weeks old from the looks. Went back to the spot I’ve been seeing the smaller 8. Saw a 4pt and one unknown before another hunter popped out into the field 15mins before legal ended.

First spot had zero fresh sign. Backed out to where I’ve been seeing that small 8. Had a 4pt come in and could see another deer in the woods behind it. But before it came out another hunter popped out below me 15mins before shooting light ended and scared the buck and the other one off.

Getting dressed to head out. It’s a short drive and walk tonight but it’s going to take some time because I’m trying to sneak within 75 yrds of the main bedding and it’s very thick. It’ll be a lot of stopping and picking my route before I take another step. Will probably only get 2 sticks maybe 3 sticks high. I have a tree marked but we will see if I can get to it.

I talked to him on the phone. He was disappointed like anyone would be. They were on there way to get Dunkin’ when we spoke and head back out. He’s only like 5’1 and the field they were walking along was never brush hogged so he had a hard time getting on him from the sounds of it. I’m sure his nerves were shot never deer hunted and 10mins into hunting career and your looking at a 115”+ buck. Probably was like looking at an elk for him. Huntings in his blood he will keep at it. I’ll probably be taking him Monday if he doesn’t tag out before then.
