  1. Coyote grab it trying to run it down? Could of just been born like that as well.
  2. Yea we are in the fall sports stage and they are going 8 different directions already.
  3. This is a public service announcement to make sure you take you spouse out and wine and dine them before season starts. After this Friday there are only 5 Friday’s left until the season starts which means only 4 weekends after Sunday. Wife loves September she gets spoiled as a thank you for letting me hunt all fall.
  4. I have the vortex crossfire hd 8x42. Small enough for me to hunt with them around my shoulder but still decent for glassing long distance. Think I paid $150- $165 don’t remember exactly.
  5. Oldest nephew is no longer able to do the youth hunt and waiting on the youngest nephew to decide if he’s going.
  6. man has never killed anything bigger than a 5pt so hopefully one of the big boys shows up for him.
  7. Yea he’s never been a tree stand hunter. I have a couple big blow downs already setup for such a scenario for myself just in case the wind gets to bad for me to be in a tree. They will easily fit us both And enough room to bring a buddy heater for him.
  8. So just like many of you my father is who got me into hunting at a young age. Still remember going to his boulder spot with the fallen down tree when I was 7 or 8. Unfortunately the last 9 yrs have been rough on my dad. Never was sick worked 60hrs a week so us kids and mom didn’t have to struggle to being disabled due to a side affect of a medications and surgery. So he hasn’t been able to do the one thing he loved the most and that was hunting. went to the dump with him today and he told me he’s feeling the best he has in years and starting today is going to slowly start walking .5 mile everyday so he can build his strength up so he can make it out to my opening day spot. Told him it’s all his so I’m hoping he stays this healthy. I’ll be packing all the gear in so all he has to worry about is walking in.
  9. I would at least try to blend them in so they don’t just look like a blob. Local deer might get used to it but if you get that roaming buck he may freak seeing it just sitting in the open.
  10. I usually shoot hornady sst but the last couple deer I’ve killed or seen killed just wasn’t impressed with how they expand. Pulled on out of a buck a few years back and it actually closed up and bent over on itself. Granted the deer died however issuing a slug gun I expect a hole in them
  11. I’m running them again this year. Took a frontal shot on my buck last year and damn near cut his neck off with it.
  12. I know the does in my area have started to group back up and shift back into their fall bedding area. No bucks on camera but guessing once they shed they will move back in.
  13. They usually start shedding by mid august? Thought it was usually closer to September? nevermind forgot next week is the last full week of august.
  14. Elite ritual 33 draw 28” draw weight 62lbs Gold tip warriors arrows 28” 100 grain inserts grim reaper 100grain 500 grain arrow 4” feathers
  15. Figured those bucks would know not to show themselves to you when they get older. Just asking to end up in the freezer by Christmas.
  16. So went driving and saw an absolute beast of a buck caught it walking away at 80yrds. Put up my Binos on him and watched him for awhile. I don’t remember the last time I saw a buck that big. 18-20” wide g2s 8-10” kickers at the base coke can bases just a beast. Also found 2 other shooters in that area I didn’t know existed. So I’m ready for the chess match this fall. Sorry for crappy photo.
  17. Anyone put in for their time off yet for deer season? I took the first day off just because I can’t wait all year and miss the first day. Then I’m hoping to take from October 26th-November 8/9th, then from november 13-November 30. Fortunate enough to have 3.5 weeks left going into the fall with no plans but to hunt. We will see if it gets approved when I meet with my boss next week about it. But I’m sure I’ll get called in or asked to pick up a shift in those days which as long as the weather isn’t good I probably will.
  18. Right there with you my cell camera is just does and fawns. I don’t expect a buck on camera for another 3 weeks when they start shifting to fall areas. However the does are keeping the scrape from last year open. Every time they walk by they either rub the licking branch or pee in the scrape.
  19. 1. Try to get my one nephew his first buck and the other his first deer. 2. Try to get my first wall hanger with a bow. 3. Enjoy the time in the field as it becomes my yearly therapy.
  20. Never been to that one but I know Gilbertsville usually stops taking shooters after 11am but start at 630-7am.
