Not me but my sister whos 22 works part time as teacher aide and bartender/waitress out of 2 jobs in 1 week. I know alot of people that have already been layed off till it dies down. Problem is in this area many of those small buisness will be done regardless.

If they really needed it ide have no problem with it. Hell if an elderly couple needed meat ide shoot something for them. I had this conversation at work yesterday and i told the guy i would take any tickets from the dec to make sure my family had food.

Corona Virus Thread
Swamp_bucks replied to Al Bundy's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Got the call today that the kids school closed until april 14th. They jumped around saying yay no school. Well that was until i sat them down and told them its not a vacation. Since they have lesson plans setup. I told them their mother will wake them when she leaves for work, they are to start on class work no later then 9. They have to do some sort of exercise for 45 mins during the day to make up for no gym classes or recess times. When they get done which should be by 1 they will have an hr worth of chores. Best part is i work 3rd so im home sleeping during the day so ill know if stuffs getting done since im a light sleeper. Well lets just say oldest slammed her door and my youngest daughter who is my out spoken one just looked at me and says "you sure can put a bad spin on having a month off cant you dad." This was all followed by me and my wife laughing because they thought it was time to sit on their asses for a month. -
Well no sheds. Did find a fresh doe kill within the last 2 weeks because it was not there when i went then. Found nose portion of a deer, fawn head and buck head with horns cut off those were all a couple years old.

Im going to venture minus the guy i saw this year sitting on private opening day at 200-300 yrds away ive ran into 4 guys in the last 4 years on stateland thats bow,gun and turkey(4 different pieces). 2 of those guys were small game hunting early october. I know alot more than that hunt the area but just dont seem to see them anymore and bow season i dont think i could tell you the last bownhunter ive seen in the woods i hunt. Even with my lease i had 75% of my hunting is on stateland.

Yea theres thousands of acres here. Thats not bad hunting, where i went on opening day of gun there was 3 trucks on 700 acre piece and thats including mine and my brothers.

Someone gave me advice on here last year that really helped me . Since deer do move to winter in different areas. look for decomposing scat it will help you figure out where they hang out in the fall more. That piece of advice helped me locate my spot for opening day of gun where i took my buck.

Ill be out in the morning shed hunting/ scouting. I always like to see what i missed during the season. Rubs, scrapes deer trails this time of year everything tends to stand out more. Especially this year since i gave up my lease i need a couple better spots for bow. Picked 4 spots out doing drives in gun season i thought needed an extra walk through. Good luck scouting public land can be challenging but without as many hunters anymore you have more options.

Cant wait to get on the lawn work but im waiting until the end of the month. Everytime i start in march it snows 2 days later.

What's your Bonehead moments while turkey hunting.
Swamp_bucks replied to mowin's topic in Turkey Hunting
Not really been much of a turkey hunter but when i was 12 just starting off i went off on my own at my grandparents. I saw 2 jakes about 300yards away and setup. I called and called tried the same stuff my cousin told me to try. Well patience got the better of me after a 1/2 hr of calling i got up to grab my decoy in the meadow. Well those two jakes ended up being about 50 yards down the woodline just out of my sight where i was sitting. -
Son and i went out real quick this afternoon didnt go far but we did find a leg but my guess since it was so close to the road someone tossed it over the bank. Ill be hitting a couple spots i hope friday and saturday.

shooting with one or both open?
Swamp_bucks replied to rachunter's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I cant shoot with both eyes open. I have a slight lazy eye on the left so it just doesnt work to shoot both eyes. If i keep them both open i see the side of a scope,my riser on my bow. I believe most of the best shooters in the world shoot 2 eyes open so there is something to learning how. -
Just around our lake. I like getting out at first light nice and calm. Cant wait.

My hope is get my daughter a turkey during youth season then if my bow is all ready try and take one with the bow.

Pulled the bow out in the nice weather 20yrds on the pig. Last shots with old arrows only 3 i have left. Heading to webster this weekend to some nija warrior park for nephews bday party. Ill pick up my new arrows from my sister since i ordered them from her company.

2 things i do is cut them into 3rds and just a little salt and pepper. But i also butterfly it stuff it with cream cheese cherry tomatoes, some sort of pepper coat it with salt pepper and brown sugar. Then i lightly cook bacon so i can still wrap it and stick in the over or put it in tin foil and cook it on the grill.

This area will be my main focus for bow. Saw deer almost everytime on it during bow and gun. No big bucks spotted but there was a big bodied 4 running around last time i saw him was 3 weeks into gun on a drive. My brother missed him, that was the 5th time i saw him last year.

Went out for a walk on a piece of stateland this morning. Was hoping for some grouse, bunnies or sheds. It was just good to be out birds chirping listening to the water run. No luck on anything i was after. However i did find that the deer seem to be doing really well this year sign is all over. Couple of pictures of my walk.

So my wife has a mission bow from a couple years ago. She never wants to shoot it and she told me she would really rather have a traditional style. It doesnt have to be a wood. The newer style barebow competition style is fine for her. My only knowledge of traditional gear is zip, zero, nadda and i dont know any one who shoots or a place near by to help. Ive honestly been considering it myself. Figured if she wants to get into it i should as well so started research on you tube. Wont be really looking to buy until later this year or next just getting some info. So questions are: Cheap starter bow? Been looking at the samik sage, lancaster has a galaxy competition bow, since i can change out limbs Length? Im 5'8 on a good day shes 5'3 so im guessing between a 58-66" in length. Draw weight? Figured her to start light 25-30lbs. Should i start same or go up to 45? Thanks in advance. Like i said this wont be a purchase anytime soon.

My parents did that years ago but with bolders they looked nice spaced out nice and even. They did it because 2 people hit the house 2 ended up on their lawn in 3 years. They had them up for years after that. Well somehow there insurance company found out and said they had to move them all or make an effort to make it part of the landscape. Insurance reasoning? Because it showed intent to cause injury or property destruction to another individual. So i dumped 1 bag of mulch around each and insurance person said that was good enough.
