  1. Thanks for the input looks like ill just stick with my pack i have. Dont need the vest getting in my way while trying to shoot. Would probably work out better for gun though.
  2. Trying to figure out my setup for the season using a hangon. Thinking maybe getting a turkey vest to keep all my extras in and not having to worry about having to put a bag somewhere once im in the tree. Does anyone use a turkey vest during deer season?
  3. Thanks for the heads up need some new binocs hopefully norwich walmart has them.
  4. Yep bought 3 weeks ago checked it yesterday and it took better pictures then my cheap moultrie i had out. Will be buying a couple more. Brother also has 2. I like the 5 seconds between pictures setting. Havent tried the video yet.
  5. I have both types of spots for that reason. The 3 pieces i go deep on get pushed hard most of gun season so i like to be in behind the drivers on hidden chunks or hard to drive sections. Those spots are mainly my gun spots. My bow spots tend to be within 75yrds-400 from the road. Do to the lack of pressure from other hunters. I like to be able to move and have as many options as possible.
  6. Didnt get to the entire piece save that for gun season for a walk. Very excited about it though theres sign all over the place
  7. Well scouting went great found alot of sign. Total walking was 4 miles. It will be about 1.2 miles into farthest stand. I did find a spot 300-400 yards in that looks good as well. But the far spot wont be easy to get to. However the trails through the open harwoods looked like cow paths, bunch of old rubs to scrapes that look to be active already they had no leaves in it and stunk also found what i believe to be 2 mature buck bedding spots. Alot of huge oaks full of acorns and massive beech trees with fresh scat and older looking like last fall. Did find some very good tracks as well.
  8. Stopped at home real quick after lease no good bucks just one actually on camera but alot of does. Stands set there. But we did stumble across a fresh fawn kill. Forgot to take a picture it was still steaming when we found it so thinking we jumped the coyote off it. But now onto the stateland for the day.
  9. Long day of scouting today lunch id packed stateland is going to a mile plus in where i want to scout. It will most likley be it leading into season. Heading to lease at 615ish this morning with my brother to finish a couple stands and check cameras. Then driving all the way back home to check out a chunk of stateland thats appears to be a pretty hidden piece. Ill try to remember and take some pictures.
  10. Congrats that is one hell of a deer. Like that straight on look.
  11. I have huntstand and just got onx but already the one thing i no onx has that i wish huntstand had is the topo/satelite combo. Huntstand has owner info like rob said but onx has that plus you can see if your in say 7r or 7m.
  12. Doing my first card pull tomorrow am. Hoping i have a picture of the doe piebald the owner has seen in his meadow 3 or 4 times.
  13. That would be cool to see.
  14. Didnt realize it was that quick. Thanks for the info.
  15. Nope not during summer. Owner of property is always out in the woods doing stuff that its not uncommon for them to see someone.
  16. Thats a great picture. How long does it take them to get the velvet off once they start rubbing? Cant imagine more than a week.
  17. Pulling cards saturday. Only had them out for 3 weeks but i wont check again after this weekend until the first weekend in october. Hoping i have some hard horn bucks on them.
  18. I will put cameras out until opener of bow and the stand i used to use was climber or on the ground. But going with a hang on so if i do see some good sign i can hang stand and take out bottom to sections and it will be safe and always on the ground. Ive had a climber stolen before. Just a crappy part about public land. But ive heard guys on private have stuff taken also
  19. Got a no go for the access, but going to another spot thats about 50-60 acres. Its just a chunk i feel no one knows about because its .62 miles to the closet road with private all around. Huntstand shows it only having maybe a 30yrd wide path from the main piece to it. Everything inside purple is stateland. Theres alot of decent bucks in that area along with hay fields. All the points are just me guessing based on the topo maps. Ill take pictures of it while im out there saturday.
  20. On my way home this morning i saw 4 sets of twins and 1 set of triplets. But thats the most ive seen all year.
  21. Cant wait until the season so i can read some of the harvest stories like last year. Good for all you guys that are doing this and helping newer hunters.
  22. Ordered my climbing sticks friday. They should be here by next weekend.
  23. Brother came up today and finally setup the targets in almost like a course. 7 total setups with ranges going out to 35 at most since non of the 5 that shoot on sundays go past that while hunting. Arm got tired towards the end that youll see in pictures. But in order Turkey-18yrds,pig 23,bag down hill 21,deer streestand 30yrds,deer out of chair 20,deer 1/4away 15yards. Will add one more tomorrow that will stretch from 10-35 yards.
