  1. I would have to agree with that. But at the same time,my WGI will take a clean pic of a moving animal and the Moultrie gives me this every time. With multi shots the Moultrie is good,IF, the subject stays within the shot area and your cam comes out of sleep mode in time. That always gets me some nice back half of the deer pics.
  2. I would NOT oil it. Make sure it is unloaded and check for proper function first. Oil is not your friend inside the bolt.A lightly oiled rag rubdown is fine.
  3. Get on thier mailing list, they are giving a pair away each month. They do something like that monthly.
  4. Yep. .... because I oiled my bolt face where the firing pin comes out.I also oiled the trigger mechanism that also houses the safety. It froze almost solid. If oil is your problem, that is easily fixed. If it is something other than that,I would have a smith check it out. Try to use it after it warms up and is unloaded ofcourse.
  5. I would never venture to take a head shot.Neck shot ,yes.Been there done that and have no problem with it as long as the deer is still and within 50yrds.
  6. Just a baby, couple more years though and he woulda been a slammer! Sweet buck! Naa...nice job with that little 243 that aint enough for them big ole deers I like the "hut".
  7. Checked once on Lake Ontario by the fish police and then dealt with the Coast Guard and sherrifs officers when we found a floating paddle boat but no passengers in the middle of 3 mile bay, and once when fishing by boat on Black River in Dexter, they came up via boat from the bay checking for salmon and 'eyes on the boat.Never been checked while hunting yet,but I am a half mile back in with 2 gates so maybe that's why. They are more than welcome to stop by any time though.Since I am a non res I figure it best to play by the rules. As far as out of state/country...been checked numerous times in Quebec and Ontario and out west in Wyoming. All was good every time.
  8. My IR4 works fine...only thing I had with it to date is to replace the batteries in the back of it.Works fine for the last 3 or so years.
  9. So I'm sitting on my chair stand for the morning hunt.I get cold and figure I would go up to the cabin and grab a coffee and something to eat. I'm up there and the wife heads out with the truck to go over her friends, the neighboring property. While she is on her way,she see's 3 guys walking in the field going towards the neighbors house, they waive and she calls me.I hurry up and try to run them down, but too late, they already crossed a poster line and are out of sight..damn.So I back track thier tracks and see that they came through the neighbors posters and all the way up to where they could see my cabin, about 60 acres worth of property. They pushed it all towards thier property. These guys had to be just behind me when I left my stand...another minute and SHTF if I was there. The neighbor knows who it is and is going to deal with it.They are from 2 properties away and actually tresspassed on 3 properties. This is crap as it now limited my hunting to just a few acres since they pushed the heck out it.Not nice guys....don't let me catch you.
  10. Got about 6" by this morning.Stayed an extra day at camp.Roads were good for the ride home.
  11. I can't think of anyone I know, that dislike it.Been eating bear since 1979 off and on through the years and enjoy it.If you cut it right and cook it right,it is delish.
  12. Now that beaver has been mentioned,it does look like one. "Off topic your profile picture is sweet that's a wolf right?" Coyote
  13. I use the vaccum packer. But,after deboning and rinsing off the meat (steaks, roasts etc) I dry them with an old lint free towel, then par-freeze them on a baking sheet (not total freeze) so when I hit the vaccum pack button, the juices stay where they should...inside the meat.I do this with anything that has alot of juice, fish, blueberries.
  14. Not a Fisher. Hog....I dunno,maybe. A bear..maybe,walking away.
  15. Really though, sounds like bear hair moreso than hog imo.
  16. Black hair 1 1/2" long....most likely proof there IS a Bigfoot there.Your bud probably heard ole' BF taking a wicked dump..that's gotta be it.
  17. Looks like a fisher from this end.
  18. Paula...others may tell you to chuck it.I won't.I say use it,as long as it was sealed,it should work to some extent. The stuff costs too much to throw and if it has lost some umpff,so what, use more.If I don't use it all the first year,it will be gone by next.
  19. It has been pretty chilly here in the mornings, mid 20's and mid 40's afternoon.I'm going to try your "test" with my Champ....have not used it in quite a while, which should make no difference either way.I will see if the thermometer we use in the oven will work for the "test".I will post here, the steps taken to complete it. LOL...reminds me of the high school days in science lab.
  20. This looked like a good idea. What say you? http://www.gundigest.com/whiz-wheel-review-long-range-ballistic-solver
  21. This is not "live" from the stand cause I don't have that kind of phone.Spent all weekend in the wodds up north and probably should have stayed home and saved the money. Not 1 deer. Not even in the bedding area.Seems strange. The neighbor property has 8 doe by the pond at night and the little ones are still with the mother.I don't think they are hot yet, gonna give it till the weekend after Thanksgiving.
  22. A Mod 7 in 7mm/08. Topped with a nice Nikon or $99 Bushnell high contrast.
  23. I have not made any purchases from here yet,but I have heard good things about the place. http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/index.php they have new and used.
