Stihl Chain Saw
Single_shot replied to fasteddie's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
I have an 029 super farm boss. Has been a good saw,20". I had to put a new ring and piston in it....my fault, don't use old gas. Always fresh and you will be just fine.I use that for the bigger stuff and I have a smaller Husky for the limbs and what not. -
Whats your fav food while in the woods?
Single_shot replied to WhiteTailBuckDeer's topic in General Chit Chat
Licorice in different flavors cut to bite size if sticks.Gummy bears too.Egg samich or 2 if an all day sit is expected.I like miracle whip on home made bread, nice and fresh, stick to the roof of your mouth fresh.I also like swiss or baby swiss on the egg. A bottle or 2 of water.Any granola bars I take,or anything that has a factory wrapper, get's unwrapped and put in a quieter zip-loc. If late season and cold, coffee if sitting all day, otherwise just water. -
It's a Bounty Hunter Scout - bought new off fleabuy, just under $100. It works ok. But it picks up the metal in the rocks too easily.
-
Doc I tried it myself too, pretty crappy results from a standard scanner. What is needed to do it correctly,is a high end digital slide scanner $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ or outsource the slides for much less. http://www.scanflurry.com/

Also I can add that in Pa it is a no-no to use one on state game land. I know of a mine entrance far off the grid where the miners actually "lived" around the clock. The cook had a big wood/coal stove[located very near the mine entrance] that was used,of which most has been picked up.But I would bet that back in the time period they were paid in cash and there would have been gold and silver dropped/lost from time to time over the years. That would be a prime area to detect,if it were not on game land.

We have one, never found anything worth much yet. It's fun and get's you out of the house. We purchased a lower end unit and the best advise I could give would be to look at a list of different units from low to high, pick one you think you want, and buy the next better unit. The better the detector, the less agrivation and boredom you will encounter. We found some coinage and silver spoons and forks...and stones that had some kind of metal content ? iron maybe?
-
My detector picks up the iron in the rocks ..... pita. I know there has to be some cool stuff by the cabin,it was all farm at one time many moons ago. I try to descriminate it but just not good enough.Agrivates me.I get tired of digging up stone.

Are the day time pics nice? Not too concerned about night. What size batts?

I checked my paperwork....the sales I had were shipped ground next day for pistols.NOT AIR. Maybe it's just an individual FFL thing....they want it there asap...for a handgun.
-
Intrastate Handguns: A non-FFL can ONLY ship a handgun to an eligible person within the state through the eligible persons FFL. The handgun can ONLY be shipped to the receiving FFL via common carrier (UPS, FedEx, etc.). If the receiving FFL WILL NOT accept a gun from a non-FFL, then the shipper will need to have a FFL ship it for them. A non-FFL CANNOT use USPS to ship a handgun. Interstate Handguns: A non-FFL can ONLY ship a handgun to an eligible person through an FFL in any state via common carrier (UPS, FedEx, etc.). A non-FFL CANNOT ship a handgun directly to another non-FFL in a different state. If the receiving FFL WILL NOT accept a handgun from a non-FFL, then the shipper will need to have a FFL ship it for them. A non-FFL CANNOT use USPS to ship a handgun. This is Pa laws...I forget your north of here.
-
Your OK with it...but for pistolas your FFL has to ship via next day air or 2 day air, well air mail, usually ~$45. Pistols can't go via ground. I dunno..maybe it's next day..I know it's way different than a rifle.

The original poster (me) is all for donating deer....just making sure you got that. I thinks it's wrong that they wasted the deer. I wish I had the opertunity to donate, but just getting 1 for me and the wife seems to be a task past couple years. -

I know where there's a dead rabbit! It may not have any feet though. That's just wrong.... -
It seems as though it's only a safety certificate that is recieved. Like I said,I really don't know anything about it,but it sounds like a good thing for the kids.

I'm not familiar with this, but it was in the emailing from Fieldnotes. Youth Sportsman Camp at Montezuma Audubon Center Kids ages 12 to 15 are invited to the summertime Youth Sportsman Camp at Montezuma Audubon Center in Savannah, NY. In three weeks of hands-on learning and outdoor field experience from July 15 through August 1, campers can receive a hunter safety, bow safety or waterfowl identification certificate. Campers may participate in one, two or all three weeks of camp, each held Monday through Thursday from 9 AM to 4 PM. Week one focuses on hunter education, week two on bow education and week three on waterfowl identification. Each week includes engaging classroom instruction and field lessons in orienteering, canoeing, tracking game and more. Campers also will participate in habitat conservation projects for game and non-game species. The cost is $100 for one week of camp, $190 for two weeks or $270 for all three weeks. For more information and to register, call 315-365-3588, or e-mail [email protected]. What I'm wondering is if anyone on here would be near this area, know more about it,know if there are any kids that would like to do it but don't have the funds etc. I was thinking maybe if there was a way we could help sponsor a young upcoming hunter(s) that I would be all for helping support them.I know funds are tight and times are tough, but I could help sponsor.Plus it's a great tool to get the young lads and lassies involved in the Heritage. Maybe set up a sponsorship in the name of HNY? What say you?

Very good to hear that! Thanks for updating.

The Dick's I was at the other day had all kinds of ammo in stock on the shelves behind the counter and a crap load of shotty shells in front of it.....I was interested in a ladder stand......they had nothing in stock....no stands.A lot of game cams too on sale. Was at the Wilkes Barre location.
