Here's a better pic from the back... You really can't appreciate the mass on this deer or the size of it's head until you see it one a wall with other mounts. I had to replace the head on this form with the biggest replacement head I could find. You would swear this deer came from the northern bush county of western Canada!

No, the first one was taken by his son. They were never posted here and the only hint that I can give is that I didnt kill it...lol

Another buck from the same member. The pictures do not do this 171" giant any justice. It's probably the biggest form I've ever used. The deer has a great story to go with it with multiple years of history and close encounters. Truely and NYS buck of a lifetime!

Since I've gotten in a number of bucks to mount from members of this forum, I thought it would be cool to post some of them. Several are real STUDS. I won't reveal the names of the members on here unless they themselves want to chime in. We'll start off with this beautiful youth season buck killed by a member's son. Love those early season capes! I'll update the thread as I get them finished up and ready to go home. Ive got 4 more member's bucks on the drying wall right now and a couple more on deck to get mounted up this weekend.

Elite’s Set System - tuning perfection made easy
WNY Bowhunter replied to moog5050's topic in Bow Hunting
I just traded a future mount with a buddy for brand new Elite Kure. Can't wait to get it out and start shooting it when the weather gets a little better! -
You are exactly correct. I misread the name of the tape...the ring end is for measuring the mass NOT the lip end. I'm a certified scorer for the NYS BBC. Here's what is in our scoring "kit"... You are also correct that the lufkin ruler needs the sliding brass insert. Although you only use the inside spread in the actual score, the tip to tip and greatest spread are also recorded on the score sheet. Actually, I'm in need of a new one because a buddy of mine who is the local P&Y scorer broke my a couple of weekends ago when he was over scoring a couple of deer that I'm mounting. My ring end is getting pretty beat too. I ALWAYS TRY TO HAVE A BEER HANDY WHEN SCORING A DEER FROM HOME TOO!

The lip ends are used to take the 8 mass measurements. You also use a folding carpenter's lufkin ruler to take the spread measurements.

On the board.

I think what you're seeing is the long hair around the burrs. In early season they haven't been rubbing much and worn these hairs down yet.

Yep, all fair chase Region 8 bucks. I've got a couple in that are 30" bigger than these guys. One in particular (anonymous forum member's buck) has the most awesome bases/ browtines that I've ever seen!!!

I've had forms on order (including your's) for a month and a half now...

The first few mounts from the past fall have gone to their new homes with several more on the drying wall and a BUNCH left to go...

The material cost is more due to purchasing the packframe and having to get the entire hide dry tanned. The time invested was less on this mount than a standard one.

He was a beauty!!!

Perfect. l need about 45 of them!

It's about to get ALOT worse!!! Lol

You've never seen one of those "truck bed" mounts? LOL!!!

Nope

This concept isn't really unique...the backpack style mount has gotten popular over the past couple of years. It's not really my favorite type personally, but it's not my choice either.
-
You can use a replacement hide but at this point of the season you'll have a tough time finding a replacement cape with the entire hide attached.

Now that season is finally over, it's TAXIDERMY time once again. My first attempt at a backpack...all finished up minus a few personal touches from the hunter. ****For all you internet ECOs, the tag is green because the deer was taken in 2018.

Thanks (just saw this post). It's almost time to start the process all over again. It's been a crazy season...I took well over my quota during archery and the first week of gun season. Hadn't gotten many calls in the past three weeks but they are starting to trickle back in again. Have a late season muzzleloader monster coming in tonight!
