  1. Hmm...it is possibly one if of the 3 deer that I took in last night from forum members with the member in question being a long time client? Lol
  2. I've caped three out since yesterday that were all that way. Early October mounts are hard to beat.
  3. Awesome deer. He'll make a sweet mount with that pretty early season cape!
  4. No arrows released yet. I did get to cape out the first mounter of the 2020 season this morning...a friend's buck that dressed out at 220!
  5. This nice 3.5 year old came out into the field a little after 6:00 yesterday evening. I tried to tickle my rattling antlers together a little bit to try to entice him in but he didn't like it at all. Guess there are too many bucks there that are above him in the pecking order. I'm going to try to cut him off with my climber after work this afternoon. Sent from my SM-S767VL using Tapatalk
  6. Awesome. Congrats on a great opening day buck! I had a 125-130" 10pt at 150 yds for a while but he wouldn't work my way...
  7. I'll be up in a tree at my best spot in about 2 hours. Hopefully, this cold front will get a shooter out hitting the alfalfa early...
  8. You might better break the ice. You'll see more deer in one hunt than I do in the first two weeks...lol.
  9. I'm stuck at work this morning but will be thinking about this afternoon's hunt all day long wondering if one of the shooters will make an early appearance tonight...
  10. Always fun to take my wife out for a little preseason freezer filling adventure. We were covered up in deer for the past couple of evenings including several nice bucks that would have been in trouble had it been November. Can't wait to get back out thursday! 11. He was definitely an older, fully mature deer. The old boy had had a rough few weeks of rutting and was pretty run down. He was not a huge bodied deer to begin with...probably dressed around 160-170lbs which is about average for late November bucks around here. Also, he was a big woods deer with little agriculture available.
  12. 186" Steuben County public land beast... Sent from my SM-S767VL using Tapatalk
  13. Thanks. It definitely takes a lot of practice to become better at the trade. It's especially tough when you're learning everything on your own. Honestly, my mounts still aren't at the level where I'd like them to be at. Good luck!
  14. I get numerous PMs about this topic as I have mounted quite a few deer for members of this forum over the past 4 years. Once again, due to time constraints with family, work and trying to fill my own tags...I will only be able to take in a very small number of deer this fall. There will be a small price increase over last year as the suppliers continue to raise their prices. Thanks and good luck! Sent from my SM-S767VL using Tapatalk
  15. Nope, not a McKenzie form. It's an Ohio Taxidermy Supply 400 Series Semi-Upright
  16. Glad to be of service! I can't believe it's almost that time of year again when the new crop of bucks will start rolling in to the shop. I still have one forum member's mount to put together this weekend...
  17. I tried it. Package comes with a small and large sized button. Set one up on my bow and one on my wife's...we both like it.
  18. Nice bucks! No wonder I'm not getting on cam up in my end of the county. I just got tested for lyme disease and was put on doxycycline today!
  19. Most of the deer around here that make it to this age/caliber manage to do so on their own...not because of any intensive or widespread management practices!
