This is why I bailed on rage. All the time the blades were out of the collar. Using grim reaper whitetail specials. They have been great and no issues with the blades coming out til they hit. Huge cut in and out on them. I have eyed the swackers if for some reason I couldn't get the grims I would try those. I shoot muzzys on my xbow and they have worked well.

Spent the day putting in some plots (well really on existing trails). First time doing this sort of thing. What I learned immediately is that the right equipment counts. Lots.of work for sure and we didn't get all we wanted to get done. We 1000% need a brush hog for keeping the trails cut down. We cut it with my push weed eater then dragged the area with the plow without weight to use it as a rake. Then put the weight on it to till it up. So much grass it caused us to keep stopping and get the grass off after like 2 passes til it was finally mostly gone. Lots of work and we could only really do two small areas til we are able to get a brush cutter. We WIll have one in the spring. Beat tired after that and jealous of you guys that have all the equipment for this. But it was a learning experience and will see how/if it grows. Atv drag worked well but next time will bring 3 blocks for it. Pulled cams and only had two buck on cams. A spike and a beautiful high and wide 6 point. Which is normal for us this time of year. A couple of bucks and like 4 resident does and some fawns. Bucks usually pickup closer to season. Lots of pics of some decent does, same three or four. Apple trees there are loaded. This 6 is a beauty! -
Northern zone opens in 2 months
Robhuntandfish replied to Whitetailhobo's topic in Big Woods Hunting
I hunt primarily nthe southern zone but I plan on spending at least one day up there still hunting. Did that last year and got to within 40 yards of a 3 point but I let him pass. It was a great hunting day though. -
Nice eye! Skinny but a good one.

Your already on the waiver wire. Best offer so far was for a used washing machine and some old field and stream magazines. On a serious note...no hunting for those 8s and 10s where your Dad hunts?

Well then the decision is the right one. Keep her happy.

Has anyone seen my missing taxidermist ?
Robhuntandfish replied to Scotstr's topic in General Chit Chat
Guy I go to out here has been doing taxidermy for 45 years. He is awesome. Great fish painter. But he has now semi retired and no longer does fish and only takes in about a dozen deer a year now. I prob paid a little more than other spots for my deer mount but I know him and his work is great. He's done 4 fish for me thru the years. I'm worried about him retiring completely as he already goes to Florida every winter now after hunting season. He drops off his capes somewhere in North Carolina and picks them up on his way back in the spring. -
Nice work. You are an artist for sure

Well that fishin mission wasn't what I planned. Took the day off got out there got two rods down and double up. Two eyes but shorts. Then a sheepie, then another short eye, a jack perch and a white perch...then the troll motor kicks off ....wth So I go and try to turn it back on. It comes on and goes off . I check the plug in and it does the same. Something loose in the wire. Go to pull it apart and its smoking....ugh the wires are def touching in there somewhere. So start cutting into the cover and it kicked the breaker . So open it up and yup the wires at the connectors pulled out. Didn't look like they were closed in all the way. So I taped off the ends and fished for about 15 minutes and decided to go in to fix it. So reconnected that and mowed lawn and cut brush by the back of the fence. Morning started off with a double in the first 3 minutes and thought it was gonna be a quick limit. But could've been worse all is fixed and it's still better than work. So breakfast and a beer with the pup. -
maybe try a change up the in the shooting regimen. I, like you, used to shoot shoot shoot, I found myself tweaking the bow and then days i just would be off it seemed and had to put it down. Last couple of years for practice i take a one shot , make it count shot, at different ranges each time. Then I send one at 30, one at 40 (my farthest pin) and i call it good . I actually feel like i shoot better. The muscle memory is there esp with the same bow for the last 4 seasons. Not saying it will work for you but maybe try it to help save the shoulders.

Big uns. Fell off the vine so had to bring them in to finish the ripen. Gave them away as I already have 3 ripe ones in the house and many more to come. Good year for tomatoes.

You are a strong fella that can lift a house and it sounds like this young guy is just as strong at 70lbs! Best of luck to him and good on you for being there. And I can barely not dump food on myself using a spoon. I would have to eat naked. Lol.

Along the edge of road was a bachelor group. A button, a spike and a six pt. Tried to get a pic but only this guy hung around. Stood right there and gave me the staredown. -
Not too big of a branch. Hopefully no damage. Going to have to check tomorrow in the daylight, still storming some.
-
And power is out. Well it's a brown out so threw the main off. Lots of limbs in yard. One hit the roof but can't check it yet.
-
And they are in line to get hit with this round too. Not.good. Sylvan beach water rescue went out there to help. They got 4-5 inches of rain in a couple hours

Severe thunderstorm warning here.

My hunting buddy bought a new diamond provider last year real nice setup RTH for under $500. I shoot a mid price bear and I love my bow and it's killed it share.
