Sorry for your bad news. Tough one.

Bout the same recipe I use. https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/151224/corned-venison/ Don't remember then who posted the venison pastrami but it was good.
-
Plenty of room for sure. And I can contest to it handling some big waves and we were still able to stand up and setup rigs.
-
Someone on here maybe @johnplav ?? Had a recipe to do this and I tried it and it was awesome. Venison pastrami. I smoked it at 225 for 3-4 hours til it was about 160 degrees. Then I sliced it for sandwiches.

Vaccination
Robhuntandfish replied to johnplav's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Right but that has nothing to do with the vaccine. If the masks haven't helped...then there is a bigger need for a vaccine so we can see it slow more. Masks aren't causing the problem obviously, so I don't see your point. So we need to obviously find a way to stop it other than masks. https://www.tampabay.com/news/health/2020/12/31/florida-breaks-record-with-more-than-17000-coronavirus-cases-reported-in-one-day/. Not so sure about "fine". -

If there was money in it business would be working harder on this. Cause you are right money is what pushes all. Demand is what pushes production but only if money backs it. A good place for all the money in the "covid relief " bill that went to other countries could have at least went to that instead if it didn't stay in the US. -

It's a.self fulfilling prophecy. There is ammo shortage cause people are buying it as fast as it hits the shelves. The companies are "going along" cause sales are booming and they can't produce it fast enough. There are no restrictions on ammo sales by the govt. The reason we can't get ammo is the same reason there was a toilet paper shortage. Everyone is filling their carts with it . Must be the govt is also worried about being TP'd. -
I just put one in brine today too. Headed to smoker next weekend. Great stuff

I'm glad there isnt so many different deer as there are ducks. Last I knew all the small ones were ducks and the big ones were geese. -

Of course, no disagreement there. But in a free market when a need arises someone goes to work to fill it. And by doing that they make money. It's the basis of market economy. Someone can make money and come up with a vaccine. Thus the reason China steals so much of our Intel, then they make it cheaper. But they aren't much on the inventing part because their people and business don't have free reign to come up with ideas on their own. Certainly agree but coming up with a vaccine that doesn't work or has side effects isn't in their best long term interest if they can prevent it. -
This is why Stan is famous. Lol. His crazy meltdowns.

Just remember it's not the govt that developed the vaccine. It was businesses. As most of the best things in the world were developed. The govt is just administering and approving it. Some of the research for this was done right close by in Syracuse by some of your neighbors. And the govt actually did a pretty impressive job of streamlining it and getting out of the way for a change. -

Def a good point. I guess it could also be looked at as going to war. China would force people to fight/take a vaccine , but when the US was attacked at pearl, people lined up to volunteer. I am kinda hoping for the greater good that people also willingly line up for the vaccine. For themselves and protection of others. And as it should be not forced. Hopefully the vaccine will prove to be successful and more will get it done and things will get better. Doing nothing is it going to make it go away? Patriotism can be a way of people deciding to enact change with out being forced to outside of war, yet feeling like we are under threat from the virus. Interesting analogy. -
I am about the same. Often 1-2 people but have had no issues with 3. Two guys side by side in the back and one guy in the front who runs a line out each side. But I usually only run tops with three guys 6 lines. If using downriggers etc it might be tight. Also my boat isn't as wide as the ones your looking at. I think width makes a big difference. My boat with 3 works great on Oneida and not too much for one guy alone, But I would want something bigger if I was on Ontario or Erie.

I actually have enjoyed reading both sides here. Not a lot of mean things said by any one. I can def see the side that says they are skeptical and/ or will wait. Esp with the world today as no one trusts anything anymore. I have no problem with someone that doesn't take it, just trying to see their reasoning. Esp when so many of the things they use everyday have been tested a lot less. From food additives to medicines etc yet they are used without question. To me a lot of this is interesting. -

Yes and hopefully it will work as so many other vaccines have. I remember my Dad talking about polio and that people were so terrified of it and how amazing it was that it is basically gone now due to a vaccine. I feel pretty good that the trials on vaccines now are much better now than then. And I. Hoping for all our sakes and way of life will be back to normal because of this one. For that in willing to take it. If you are not that is ok. I hope u don't get sick or give it to anyone. Maybe in a few months or so you might decide to take it if all goes well with people getting it. But I think you will.need the luck with that more than I will since I am vaccinated. So good luck. -

Ok. Lol. So why are you against a vaccine? Should we stop taking them for everything else too? I do have a problem understanding the fear of a vaccine vs a fear of getting a disease. So because it wasn't tested enough? If that's all you got then go with it, but don't shut down on others that are willing to try it and actually possiblity help protect you from getting it and spreading it more. I have no prob with choice. But don't have issue with people that are willing to take it as well. -

I never said I agree with any of that. I said a vaccination reduces the risk of getting it. Hopefully once the infection rate goes down you can have your hotdog out wherever and whenever you want. Lol -
Vaccination
Robhuntandfish replied to johnplav's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Not a 100,%, no one expects that. It's a numbers game you obviously can't grasp. That a vaccine can reduce it . You can get measles tomorrow. But due to a vaccine you most likely will not. I don't see the difficulty in understanding this. -

Right we could lock people inside like China did. Why do you think the US has struggled worse with this? I think a vaccine might help us the most. Being a free country is great and choice is great. I just hope enough people choose to take it so that the reason it goes down is from the vaccine and not the people with weaker imune systems paying the price. -

I will take that over watching the TV every minute of kids not going to school, 280,000 + people dead, stories of overflowing hospitals, watching first responders crying cause they feel helpless, people being intebated, quarantines, unable to have family get togethers, celebrate holidays, seeing people's faces covered with masks.... -
Vaccination
Robhuntandfish replied to johnplav's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Right but the 95% effective rate of moderna makes that a lot better chance. In other words if the risk of getting struck by lightning is 95% less if I don't stand outside with a metal rod I am willing to put it down. The masks will go away once infection rates go down. If people take a vaccine that reduces the infection rate 95%.....see smallpox, polio, etc. I just don't see why people are afraid of to take it. Each their own. -
Good point . I don't fish the high seas so no need for the kicker. Plus my boat is only 16.5. And if it's too bad on the lake I won't be on it.

Vaccination
Robhuntandfish replied to johnplav's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I find it interesting that people keep repeating that its a 99% survival rate so I won't take the vaccine. I took it cause I don't want to get sick and I want to be able to hug my 83 year old mother and not kill her and I want to go to a store again without a mask. Just because the rate of death is 1,2,3 % that's just one reason. I want to see this go away and don't want to be a part of helping it spread. Also how many people have survived but we're in the hospital and on ventilation or in quarantine. I don't want that either. And I am not concerned about side effects, which I haven't had and all I know that have taken it, haven't had. When infectious disease specialists recommend it , that means more to me than someone spouting unfounded doubts. Well said @knehrke. I agree to let people choose themselves. And hope after a few months most people see it isn't as big risk to take the vaccine than it is to get covid and pass it along to others and allow this way of life to continue.
