Couple of venison street tacos and pasta salad. .and sweet tea after a.good fishing morn and a beautiful day.

What a difference a day makes. 5 hours on the water yesterday and struggle to get a bite. Today limit out by 8 am. Lost 2 others and didn't have to measure any of them. Shouldve went for some bassin after as the smallies got to be hot right now, but had fish to clean and the lake was getting busy. But a great morn on the water for sure. Started out fishing near the crowd but wasn't graphing a thing and not a bite. They were all deep. So moved in off a shelf in 22 ft cause the water isn't that warm yet. Got these and two other pike that I lost in about 45 minutes.

Live from the water, just not fishing.

Tough day on the water. Got 5 bites the whole morn and not enough to even clean.. wasn't the only one. Talked to several guys and they were scratching their heads. Never saw another boat land one either and saw a lot of guys moving spot to spot. One of those days...... Hoping it's better tomorrow. Tempted to throw for some basses. But I like banking those walleye and perch fillets.

What would people be jealous of? Missing what you mean here? That you have deer penned up or that it's a business. Wouldnt be jealous of zoos either. I don't think I would enjoy being a deer farmer, and penned up deer don't make me jealous at all. No sport in that. Makes me feel sorry for someone that would pay all that money to buy a deer. Maybe I'm missing something.

Actually backstrap not T loin. Way good.

Love me the Hoffman's. Nice toppings. That's solid.

My dad was a chef and spent some time in Korea. He refused to eat Kimchi, so never tried it.

Bacon wrapped venison t loins.

yeah i had to ask about it cause to me it makes no sense. I dont think i would go on a hunt for one of these if it was free. But i do understand people do different things and pay good money for it. Turning stone has a high fence hunt avail and racks over 200 inches are like $10,000. To me it makes less than zero sense. But I also wouldnt drop $10K at the casino either.

full admission - I know nothing about deer farming........ what do they do with them that they fetch so much $?? High fence hunts and private ranch stock?

will def have a buddy with me. The permit also has sub party and he could shoot as well as long as we are together. We wont have a canoe or anything but will have a game cart and determination! Def will have to quarter it etc. Would just have to find out rules on that. Cause each moose has to be brought to a station and want to be sure we bring everything we have to. Etc. I would hope they let you quarter and only have to provide sex of the animal. Esp if it is warm out i want to quarter skin and ice it right away . not totally sure on where we would even stay for sure. Have a couple leads on some cabins we might be able to use. But we would cert be on the budget plan and can see us a couple of nights using the truck as shelter. lol By the time you pay for permit and licences alone and get there your up to $1000. But we will make it work one way or the other. If the possible cabins fall thru (as I asked person years ago when i first started applying) we might truck one night then hotel the next etc. depends a lot on where we might get a tag for.

i put in for cow as well this year hoping to up my odds. Really ok with taking a cow, either one is good. Course you know that if i get a cow permit the first thing i will see is a 55 inch bull at 50 yards. lol

nothing prettier than a brook trout. Always wanted to catch a big one. Biggest ever was a 14" . Have caught a slew of them in my young days trout fishing with Dad. I have hiked in to a few places in the dacks but never got the big one. I always go at least once a year for a while for some brookies. A lot of the spots i used to go to have been about fished out with the wild ones. Used to be some rivers up in Lewis county where you could always get a few, now your lucky to get a couple browns. Nice catch!!

yeah it sure is a lottery - bout the same odds at least. Well that sucks. In New brunswick do you have to have a guide?

Actually if I get the permit one of my first moves is to contact these guys. Will go up and do a bit of scouting ahead of time and try to meet up with a warden for few minutes and ask some questions. Esp about reporting the moose, can it be quartered etc? and any good tips on where to start in the region.... hoping they will be helpful.

NY State WHIP program?
Robhuntandfish replied to corydd7's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
My buddy that I hunt on his land did the wetlands program. And it worked out pretty well. But you can't after just clear cut or do anything you want with the land. They let him keep the trails he had cause it was kinda grandfathered years ago. But the place is almost unhuntable if it wasn't for those trails. They came in with a bunch of equipment and really went to town making ponds and swamp land. Made for some nice duck hunting area for sure. They did a bunch of work in the same area and used his place as a base for operations for a while. This was in .Madison county. But he can hunt, walk his horses etc. But he couldn't clear out an area or plant etc. They do stop and check once in a while. He does have some flooding issues with beavers from time to time. But can have trappers on there too and that has helped. Dunno if it's the same exact program but it worked out for him. Me and another guy hunt it and man is it the brushiest place ever but it does have deer. -
If this was raised on a deer farm its like mounting a fish from the bass pro aquarium. Not my thing. A genetically engineered deer in a fence would make me feel like crap to explain it. I guess if it's just for show at an outdoor place or a lodge. But I just wouldn't be proud of it. Grampy nailed it again. And I would even go to 120". Lol.
