  4. Central NY ??? its still 2 hours for me. On this side of CNY we call that Western NY lol. Just kidding ...... I think its great that people can get together. Pretty cool. Been trying to catch up to Treeguy with a gracious invite to fish and work is killing me. 11.5 hours yesterday and no lunch and gonna be 10 today. Have a day off tomorrow but think my dancecard is filled even if I am still gonna get the day at all.
  5. no scoping yet but a fat lip from my thumb while shooting the shotgun a couple of times.
  6. hoping for a wall mounter one day. Have yet to get one big enough for that. Been real close a few times. Maybe this is the year..... been chasing the one in the last pic for two years now.
  7. yeah that big woods up there would think they prob travel farther for food sources etc. Plus so much hunting area.
  8. need to get some hunting thoughts going here! So how often does that happen that the buck you took is one you have on trailcam? I would say the last 5 years for me has been about 50/50. Now this first pic is kind of a cheat as I had him on trailcam 2 minutes before I shot him. Lol So I had the before and after, all in a 10 minute span! But i have far more pics of bucks I never see of course, and passed the 3nd buck pic at 10 yards last year trying to hold out for a big one - last pic. All these pics are from the same spot - they love this tree! Def hard scrape/lick tree every year. (we even named the stand next to it - scrapetree) But it is neat to get a deer you also had on cam - it makes you almost feel like you knew what you were doing?! lol sure.
  9. pencil me in for that. Plenty of other options at a lot less cost that are just as productive.
  10. now thats a hard stare!! "OMG ive gone crosseyed......." Poor boy needs pie! I look that same way at Pie so i know the feeling
  11. Smothered venison steak and salt taters in olive oil and browned on grill.
  12. wow! nice job ! one like that out of Oneida is a rarity and a derby winner!
  13. Had to take out the ten foot pole today huh........
  14. If I'm going to meet you all at the goat I'll be damned if it's on the wagon. Lol Beers will happen
  15. if have to give up just the implement then I give up the bow and use the gun. If you mean do I give up bow season or gun season - I give up the gun season.
  16. Lol maybe. Thats a big lake ! Chautauqua maybe, always wanted to try it for muskies. Or maybe Hemlock that lake always looked interesting. Will def try to make it though.
  17. Would love to. But 2.5 hours one way. Would like to still try to make it though. Whatever day it is will give it a shot, just pending what's going on at the time.
  18. Post fishing hunger fix. Eggs over fried taters with venison breakfast sausage.
  19. Got out for some bassin on the canal. Did a bit of guiding for the guys and even caught a few myself. Got some quality smallies and largemouth today. Young guy here is headed for Paris island in August graduates next week. Had to get him out fishing before he goes. One of my buddies kids and the boy can fish! Lol. Other guy is fishing buddy Corey with a nice largemouth for sure. Good day on the water.
  20. Had a friend pass from cancer this year at 51. He was a fellow hunter and fisherman. He invited me to go to Alaska with him a couple of times but life always seemed to get in the way of me going. Sure wished I had at least spent some more time doing those things with him he was s great guy. We weren't like real close friends but we probably should have been. It's good to hear your friend is doing better and you get the chance to spend some time
  21. Cool pic and experience. Sure wish we had more of them around here. Def a big un. Always wanted to get one ny bear
  22. Quit fooling around and get out fishing! Lol. Good luck. The bad luck is out of the way!
  23. I can do well in the spring and the fall but I def struggle even on oneida in the summer with the walleye. Late fall gets good again but I am then obsessed with deer. Used to get some real lunker's in the summer on the st Lawrence, but would only ever get one or two a day but it was usually a 6-8 pounder. Gonna have to sched some time to come up next spring for a walleye day on Oneida with me. We've had our best spring ever this year. Those damn turkeys got to much of my time this year too! Lol But I can already see that it's getting tough. I gotta figure out those summer eyes. Pickup my trolling game for suspended walleye or figure out those weed edge eyes with some slip bobbers or something. Prob is I get frustrated and just head for bass. Lol The fall nights in the shallows were always great too, but my favorite spot off shore is now posted . And I really don't care much for night fishing on the lake in a boat. And I am old enough now that fishing til midnight then getting up at 4 to deer hunt is a bit much.
  24. Went to the national aquarium in Baltimore a few years ago. Wife had to drag me away from the Brook trout tank. It was full of 4-7pounders. Can't remember what else was even there. Lol Went and had a big burger and a couple local brews. Then watched the Yankees go a game and a half up on baltimore a couple weeks from the playoffs.
  25. Backstrap fever! Some onions and peppers, deviled egg tater salad.
