Was just talking with my hunting buddy and he brought up something I had forgotten about. There was an old blind on the backside of the big pond. The duck hunters that were here before us used to use it. Can't wait to check it out. Hopefully it's still in shape to use.

Hunt #50. 2-dark. On the ground by groundblind area. Holy crap I saw some deer! Yeah nothing while actually hunting. Get back to the truck it's still legal shooting and look up and here is a deer 100 yards away by little pond eating. I grabbed the muzzleloader in the truck (as I was hunting with the xbow but had the muzzle with me from this morn) put in a cap and try to get in play. Then landowner is in the close barn and he works on snowmobiles and fires one up and is revving the heck out of it. There they go....2 deer. But at least I saw something and know they still exist there

I'm in. From the ground with the xbow. Where we had a ground blind. Thought maybe they come out just before dark for the grass that is left. 100% next year this is gonna be a food plot.

Hunt #49 7-10:30 point stand . Saw nothing. Gonna change it up this pm. Sitting other side of property. Might even take xbow and sit in a stand close by the far corner where groundblind was. Maybe they come out to eat grass there.

Wow .16 cameras and a drone.... I gotta stop trespassing over there. People ask me what I need for Xmas I tell them AA batteries. Lol

On a positive twist. Am hoping maybe some good comes from this new variant. If it remains far less lethal and dangerous and yet very highly contagious and it becomes the dominant strain it COULD be a good thing. The flu we see today is a variant of the Spanish flu but certainly a lesser one. Hopefully this new variant will increase herd immunity and also be a more medically manageable variant. This is not going away so trying to be hopeful that in nature's way it becomes something that can be lived with. Gotta try to pull out something positive. And hope it will take the same path as the Spanish flu. But here's the deal....I see this getting bad the next couple of months. As we still look at any positive test as a quarantine issue. So a LOT of places will be temp shutting down, as it seems to get thru the vaccine without much problem. Cornell with 1000 positive tests in less than a week (350 in last 24 hours) shows how easily this spreads. Add in Xmas shopping, get togethers, more travel and family xmas, chances are it's gonna be bad for positive tests. We will not get by the vaccine or masking debate until we don't fear spread and use quarantines. And do any of us think that's coming anytime soon? If the variant does take that path we are still easily 18 months from that, minimum. Only way this happens is to have an effective way of treating it, a much more effective vaccine, a much lesser variant, or herd immunity. We are not there currently for any of those.

only one ive killed during muzzle was a shed buck i thought was a doe. And 3 minutes later saw one of the top 3 bucks ive ever seen in the woods but no shot. Also years ago had a nice 8 trailing 3 does and couldnt get a shot at it

I see up in Maine for moose quite a few guys use a chainsaw winch to get them out where they can't get an ATV in. Kinda neat contraption.

Looking like I scored myself a couple of extra days of seeing no deer....yay I think. Looks like I have Fri and Tues off. Got 2 personal days to use by the end of the year. So prob hunt cause it's what I do .
