  1. Was this light used in the estimation of coyote distance at any time?
  2. Yeah that's exactly what I was thinking. I don't do the oil either. Seems like a good use for $40 to me, and free tire rotation at the same time. Plus it goes on the lift and everything is checked over for free.
  3. So the guys that do their own, do you also rotate the tires every other oil change?
  4. "potential" Noreaster on Friday. It hasn't gotten above 15 here yet today. But doesn't look like it's gonna be long enough to build any safe ice. 44 by wed.
  5. Seems to me the original people involved hashed it out. So #letsmoveon And HornHunter as much as Bill would like to move himself on another whatever fictional list he has going. Your not hated. Many of us appreciate your input, and I'm saying that as a guy that has fished and enjoyed a beer with Lawdwaz. It was a disagreement, nothing more. Nothing to see here. Happy hunting all in 2022.
  6. I call for a Turk-off between FSW and Bill. It would prob break the forum.
  7. Watched a hunting show one time where a guy was hunting Ostrich with a bow. It looked amazing. I'm too chicken to go do something like this but it sounds like a great adventure. You should ask @Dinsdale for some tips.
  8. I am willing to take HornHunter and Lawdwaz out fishing and guarantee they both would get along great. And I would even "Gut" the fish for them both so there is no issues. Lol.
  9. On the property I hunt there is usually at most two big bucks that come thru. But I like the challenge of taking any buck off from it. My goal is 5 points or better , but the freezer comes first. Trophy hunters would say then find another place to hunt. But I like it there. It's our own to hunt. I share it with my buddy I have been friends with since middle school and I enjoy working on it and doing the best we can to get a deer there. I walk away happy getting one deer a year for the freezer and chasing around for a buck. I def am not a guy to give advice on killing giant bucks. I've gotten one that I consider a trophy buck in my life. But I offer info on things I have learned and mistakes I have made. Hopefully it helps or entertains others. To me hunting is more than the end prize. I could never bring myself to go on a guided or paid hunt as getting that big buck wouldn't mean much to me. As others have said hunt the way you like and take the game that is legal and you are happy with. I enjoy sitting in a stand over land I have improved and worked all year on and try to reap the benefits of all the work, I enjoy a still hunt on public land too from time to time. But none of those am I expecting or need to shoot a monster buck to enjoy it.
  10. Couple of buddies of mine used to go to the one on Tuscarora lake. Never caught a fish or even seen one caught. Lol. I've fished it open water and caught some bass and an occasional walleye. But they always went to the blue canoe after and one of them won something every year in the drawing. It was too funny. He won some nice gear!
  11. Thought several times about trying bear hunting there but just don't have or want to put the time in for all the scouting I know I would have to do. Would have to do like you are are scout ahead of time of bunch before I felt comfortable with a hunt. But so many other things in the summer with fishing and deer season land prep. And now this year some duck hunting prep.
  12. Seems awful skinny. Not thinking the PA girth chart is gonna be accurate in this one case.
  13. Wow. Didn't know the PA season was still going. That's great. Good luck. Had a buddy near Binghamton that used to jump NY to PA for hunts all the time. Multiple opening days or options. He said he used to love it.
  14. Nice catfish! Had to be fun. I've caught a few good ones in Oneida lake. I'm thinking our types of vacations would be similar. Lol. Just find me some open water and some peace and quiet! Looks like a good time.
  15. Def not photogenic, but damn it was good.
  16. Great buck. Hoping a couple I've seen this year make it thru.
  17. That's awesome. Always hoping one day to get a pic of a bear on cam. Where I used to hunt in 6S heard they had a bear around this summer. And have seen others pics of bears nearby here. So it might happen one day. Gonna have to have my cams up all year.
  18. Have it on my calendar to do this week too. Plus the reminder letter they sent was very helpful. Lol.
  19. Wow the off season started fast, barely had time to take my boots off.
  20. My biggest takeaways of the season. 1- stop trying to put a square peg in a round hole. After the first 14 days of gun season I am moving onto duck hunting. We just can't compete with the local AG at that point and sitting out in the woods for nothing while ducks fly overhead is stupidity. So next year hoping the ponds are open in early Dec like this year 2- hopefully less rain. Started some small kill plots and frost seeding last year and one was gone and eaten and the other got flooded out. Gonna step that up next season a bit and more frost seeding which was very successful 3- lost my best spot last year and have focused now in this one and I was surprised how happy I was with that. Just concentrated on this one property and put more into it and enjoyed it. And saw deer on most sits. It's a tougher spot with lots of swamp but put a deer in the freezer, passed a bunch of does and saw a couple of good ones but no shot.
  21. Thanks. A couple of buddies gave me their tags too. Dunno why they are giving up.
  22. Turned the TV on this morn and the frontiersmen one was on and I forgot Steve Rinella was one of the narrators.
  23. Found a couple of packs of last seasons venison apple breakfast sausage, so made sausage and biscuits.
