  1. Just reread his post. I misread it. I'm always thinking people do the right thing sometimes not. Live you learn. Good call. Hope Dec doesn't track me.
  2. Yea I understand what your saying my fault. I'm a good guy ask @swampbucks can verify. I served honorably in the us army. I believe in doing the right thing. My fault. I won't advise on anything. I know up here we have a jacking problem my uncle called three days in a row. Did Dec set up a decoy? No they gave my uncle the 3 does. Told him u should install a light near your apple trees to deter the deer. Lol. Me rambling. I get what your saying. He needs to be held accountable and not be posting. Understandable. I understand he was wrong. Just don't want meat to go to waste. I have a tag I offered. My fault.
  3. Hey at least nobody will have a car deer collision and somebody's freezer is full of meat. Not saying it's right but he said the deer didn't look hit and he looked. So he continued to hunt like most of us would do unless your a hound dog and a good blood tracker. If it's a troll he got me. If not I'm willing to help a hunter even if it was wrong I'm sure he's learned from this.
  4. If not you can't do anything else he's dead and not coming back. Clean it up and learn from it.
  5. Yea got any friends with buck tags? Where you located? I'm at the great escape Lodge in lake George tonight. If your close I'd tag it for ya.
  6. He's still good to eat. Gut him and clean up if you can good job stacked up like cord wood lol. Pics.
  7. Mainly to clear my head from combat PTSD. Peace and quiet. Gets me outta the house. Exercise. Put meat in the freezer. Harvesting is just a bonus plus more work lol.
  8. When the guns start going off I try to get behind a large tree.
  9. Dont know if they were taking in same spot or not. I'm in my they sent me pics. Usually they get one or 2 bucks in all not 3 in one day.
  10. Cream of mushroom and pepper jack cheese pork chops and potatoes and onions and beets and homemade jalapeno poppers. Ceasar salad on side.
  11. From deer drives today 3 bucks put down in Massachusetts on drives. 5 does rest of week they started Monday. They will hunt tomorrow then cut them up at butcher and be back Sunday. Good haul so far.
  12. We used to have a big group of guys get together one day out of the weekend and push all day. Those days have past lucky we can get 5 or 6 guys now. Mostly when my wife's family comes from Massachusetts. On the other hand that's how they are hunting all this week in mass. Big group of guys pushing 100 yards by 100 yard parcels driver to watchers no escape most deer in the drive get harvested. I quit hunting down there after my first year had slugs flying by not for me. I fought in a war lucky to come home. Not being shot doing what I love. Very effective way of hunting if enough people and people are set up right.
  13. Olive garden Italian dressing marinaded Cubed steaks from half of beef I bought locally. Seasoned chopped potatoes and broccoli and cheese. Turned out great. One kid ate 2 steaks lol unusual.
  14. Since I was 12 for small game. 14 for bow hunting. So 25 years for me. My dad hunted early on in his life but I never got to hunt with him. A few of his friends brought me and showed me the ropes of still hunting the Adirondacks.
  15. I remember at my units we had red cleaning stations full of clp for our machine guns after we had a field problem or were at the firing range. Just soak and clean after. Never seen one while in combat. Just cleaned weapons and very light if any lube while in Iraq. Sand like crazy and could really get messy and mess with your weapons performance and rely ability.
  16. Good luck down there the offer stands for you and friends to come hunt up here. Bucks just started to move.
  17. Couldn't believe the deer just sat there as we made our way thru to our spots.
  18. I shoot most of my deer in the upper neck right behind the ear not much meat wasted. Best part they don't go anywhere.
  19. Cleaned a roadkill doe for a buddy. Was surprised how much was salvageable. All he wanted was inner loins, backstrap and hamburger. Not bad. I got half the deer to do it. 17 quart bags of burger half quart bags of backstrap then gave my buddy the inner loins. More meat for freezer.
